I'm glad this video has helped so many save time and money. Thank you for the comments. I sold my Escape at the end of my warranty after too many electrical gremlins plagued it. I actually miss her but my 1 year old Toyota has yet to be at the dealer for any issues and it's what I expect out of a new vehicle. I personally know other Escape owners who have had problem free rides except for the recalls. Not every build can be perfect I guess.
Just a tip, squeeze the middle of the filter and than put it back bottom first or buy the k&n filter is not hard at all putting it back just sliding down and that’s it...
Good grief. Waited almost three HOURS at Jiffylube today because nobody knows how to change these things...guy never did figure it out--wanted to take the whole glove compartment out. THANK YOU.
It’s important to note on a Ford 2013 Escape the screw is a 7/64 hex head. 7/64 not as common so make sure you have one. Squeeze (pinch) each side of the filter (like a bow tie shape) to the centre it will easily manoeuvre in place without damaging the filter.
I changed ours out today in the '16. Its about 8 months old and right at about 8k miles. Pretty filthy already....thanks again for the video, very helpful.
Thank you, Thank you Thank you. Someone told my wife that this filter gets replaced under the hood. So I went to Ford and they gave me a print-out of the whole blower assembly. I would have never ever found this "door" that you pinch. Thank you My name is Bill Donovan.
Thanks for the video! We just picked up a new 2016 Titanium Escape last Sunday, traded in our 2011 Escape Limited. Learning all I can about it and youtube helps a lot. It's a 1.6 Ecoboost (most titaniums have the 2.0). The oil filter placement on them looks horrendous. Not looking forward to doing the first oil change on it when it comes due.
your welcome. have any battery problems with your escape? I'v already had to replace the battery, seems the electronics drain the battery if they are not driven every few days. thanks, Ed
Very instructive. Appreciated the bit when you had to use both hands to manipulate the filter to get it installed. Ford could do a bit better in design to have the filter slide in/out without so much bending.
My filter door has 2 screws and the top one is only accessible from behind the glove box. Maybe that's why you have to remove it. I guess not all escapes are the same.
Perhaps I'm not as agile as I once was, but this routine belongs in the circus. After finally getting the screw out of that awkward spot and practically standing on my head to get at the filter I'm not sure how a rodent can squeeze it's way into that place. I couldn't even get the cover off the filter to replace it on my 2015 Escape. Surely there is a better design to make this easier. I eventually gave up and will give it another try when the weather warms up and my patience is replenished. Also, the description in the manual simply says "Under the instrument panel in the passenger area"... yeah, good luck with that one. Great Video though.
+David Smith It would've been really nice if the seat went back further or the seat rail wasn't as huge as it is. I definitely had to do a bit of contortion, never really found a comfortable position. Pretty much had my knees outside on the ground and just tried to do it as quickly as possible.
I have to say this video is not true. Pulling the glove box takes all of 6 minutes/ 10 if you haven't done it. Pop the side trim at the A pillar, pull the 2 10's at the bottom of the box, unscrew the 2 torx screws inside, unplug the light switch. Its out on the ground. Otherwise you are squeezing the center of the cabin filter to sneak it in; can't do it with the Motorcraft filter; can do it with some poor aftermarket imitation but then does it really "bounce" back to shape and provide correct evaporator protection? Bottom line; the filter needs to provide clean air and PROTECT the evap and case; without coverage doing it cheap may mean expensive bills for you to complain about later...good luck with that..cutting corners in this case doesn't justify the end means..Ron
That's the sort of BS that would cause me not to buy the car. The battery location on this car is also idiotic. Have to remove the air box to change it.
You skipped the steps of getting the filter in and getting the door back on. Not any more helpful than figuring it out myself. And poor effort on the part of Ford's engineers. 54 years old, been working on cars since I was 15. One of the worst designs I've come across.
Thank you for posting this video. It took me all of 4 minutes to replace the filter.

Got it! Thanks! Trickiest part was getting new filter into position.
Just did this in about 5 minutes. Most of the time spent trying to line the filter cover up with the screw hole. Awesome, thanks!

Thank you! This old dilapidated guy took seven minutes though. :) Had to drag out the shop light which added a couple of minutes.

Thanks Sir....Took me 3 min to change the filter in the pregnant wife's car.
Concise and direct. Thank you for appreciating everyone's time.
Thanks for posting this. It will save a bunch of time in replacing the filter.
its similar for the Lincoln Mkc 2015-16, just changed mine thanks 2 this video
I was told our's didn't have one. I just think they didn't wanna bother with it. Thanks for posting this.
Glad I found your video. I have a 2015 escape se. Worked like a charm doing it your way! Thanks.

Brilliant video - procedure works perfectly on the Ford Kuga in the UK!
Same for my 2015 MKC Lincoln. Just pulled it. Thanks for the info much appreciated.
Thanks for this video. Just changed mine and it was easier and quicker then changing the air filter.
Exactly what I was hoping to see. Thank you!
Thank you very much for posting this! 2013 Ford Escape SEL
Thanks Ray ... also works on the 2017 Ford Escape with 2.0L Ecoboost engine.
You have to scrunch up the filter to make it fit. It expands back into shape when slid into the receptacle
Thank you..... Just did mine on my wife's escape for the first time after 65k miles and um yeah it was pretty disgusting!
Excellent video!
Nice video. I have a 2014 Escape and I was hoping that this would be a DIY job. It most CERTAINLY is!
Thank you! Very helpful.
Thanks for the video, replacement went well!
thanks this helped alot!
Thanks, saved a lot of time!
28ashcat thank you so much it's saved me a lot of time I would've probably wind up pull in the moter out trying to get it

Thanks for posting this .I'm tired of giving pepboyz my money.

Do I need to install the screw (20) back or is it pretty secure once the plastic cover is installed?
Thank u thank u❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Would this be same in the 2015 lincoln mkc? Its similar to the escape
Thank you!
screw is a 20 torx. only one. ford couldve made it easy and just use a phillips or snap in place panel but nooooo.
Thank you
does anyone know how to replace the cabin air filter on a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid 2013.
Time to Husky Liner up Amigo
What an absolutely idiotic design to put that there.
Engineers & money men need a kick in the ass.

interesting
Nonsense, he used a Motorcraft filter in the video.
Ron Ananian I totally disagree. I did it exactly as he said and did it pretty quickly. Getting the new filter in is the hardest part

my 2015 Ford EDGE.......totally different. this video was useless
Not intended for the edge
It's for ford escape.
you are one complete dumbass
