Thank you for this tutorial! When I changed the filter, I was sitting on the passenger side. I just bent over to the driver's side. It was a reasonably comfortable position, so the process was easier than I expected.
Just did this, terrible process, took me an hour or so, and it's nearly impossible to find a comfy position while you're at it. Thanks for showing how-to!
Thanx, did the job today !! Managed to get old filter out without taking accel pedal off, but realised i couldnt get new one back in. So took pedal off !
I really dont think a Ford garage will change this !!. Takes at least an hour, 3 nuts on the pedal, 2 screws on the filter cover. You have to be a contortionist to get your body into a position to take things off and everything back on.
Thank you a lot for this video it was very helpful it takes me about one hour to replace the filter very bad position especially if someone has big body like me.
It was the hardest work I did in my ford.
Very stupid location for filter I don't know why ford makes every maintenance hard I believe their designers are the worst

In other words, this video is for Right-hand traffic, the way most of the world drives.

Yeah? You should try to replace the thermostat on the Zetec Focus. You have to remove the alternator with the belt because it blocks one screw in order to remove the intake, which is necessary since the thermostat housing is underneath and between the alternator and the intake. Also note here that it doesn't have a tensioner, so you need a special tool to tension the belt afterwards. Also you have to remove the injector rail, and the vacuum hoses to reach it. Fuck ford.

Tohle řešení je totálně k posrání s prominutím. U MK3 už to udělali alespoň od spolujezdce, že člověk nemusí sundavat pedál.
Když jsem to měnil poprvé, zjistil jsem, že i mechanik v autorizáku, který to měnil předemnou se na horní šroub vykašlal a nevrátil jej :D

One question: do you need an elevator to access the filter; I must admit that I tried to twist myself in all positions without success...

Does it matters how you turn new filter?? My mk2.5 is just serviced, this filter is changed, but air flow from the vents is still vary bad, like was before. Ventilator is working fine.

OK thanks, The nut on the top right of the pedal is the hardest to remove among the three pedal nuts. If you used a ratchet, socket and extension in the very tight area around the nut, then you have a lot of skill.
@@liythalhamzah8289 yes, you just need to persevere, think it was 10mm, took me an hour to change. Car is 2007, and filter was black, dont think it has ever been changed, although Ford had charged for replacement 2 years previous.
Who came up with this design? Took me two hours hanging upside down over the front seats to get this done.
Lol i even tried that ..I couldn't do it still blood rushed to my head felt headache ..after 2 hours will try tomorow again to reach the top screw of accelerator and filter cover ..it really a hard position no power In hand at such complicated position and the damn socket just wont go on it .. :((((( why ford whhhhhyyyy

Ano. Focus C-max to má stejné. Dělal jsem to dnes. Akorát nečekejte, že to půjde tak rychle, jako v tom videu. Je vidět, že v okamžiku, kdy vkládá novy filtr, je tam strih. Protože to tam dával určitě tak 20 minut. Aspon mi to tak dlouho trvalo, než jsem ho tam narval. A dost jsem ten novy poničil. Musel jsem to tam narvat úplně na sílu. Když odmontuju plynový pedál, tak tam ještě překáží pedál brzdy a sloupek řízení a nevim co všechno mi tam ještě překáželo. Neni tam ani vidět, natož tam tak hýbat rukama. Blbější místo pro ten filtr už nemohli vymyslet. A být třičtvrtě hodiny zkroucený v prostoru pro nohy před sedadlem řidiče je taky lahůdka. To je tak pro někoho, kdo váží 50 kilo. Bylo to trápení.
Jakby nie mogli dosjcia zrobic z drugiej strony - od schowka. Wymiana by była duzo prostsza a tak chuj!

No. It is much easier because you just remove 7 torx screws, then you remove the glove compartment and its door (it is snap on), unsnap the leveling lever, and then you remove the safety fuse box underneath and its metallic holder,. In total you remove 7 torx, two nuts and three screws more that holds the filter cover in place. You can easily do it in 20 minutes.
It is easier because you have easy access to everything. Plus the screws that hold the pedal down are tight till the end. It is really painfull to remove the pedal, takes a LOT of time.

Ford's biggest design foolishness after the lack of interior boot open handle of course. And all this mess cause they kept the same design from the right steering side models, only that on those models there are not pedals to remove. Fortunately they fixed those issues on the future models.
Imagine removing the pedal only to find out that one of the screws for the filter cover is striped and you need an extractor! This is what happened to me today fixing a friends car. After we finished (yes we didnt change the filter)... guess what? The hood stuck closed! Funny huh?
