Love your videos. Toyota HAS to give you a Gen4 Taco just for making these videos for the community.
Man I wish... if anything this channel has cost toyota dealerships hundreds of thousands of dollars... and for that I am happy.
More like the other way around, the community needs to buy him a Gen 4 for saving us a ton of money! Best way (besides cash) is to subscribe, like & share his content. Thank you again TOD!

Can’t say enough how much I appreciate your videos. Simple, informative, and to the point.

Thanks! I couldn't even find the PCV before this video.
Amazing walkthrough man. Thank you for the awesome wrenching advice.
My pleasure brother! 🍻
Just ordered the valve from your link. Thanks for the video.
We got a king over here! Thanks brother, happy maintaining!
Another keeper. Well done!
Much thanks

Awesome camera views easy to follow. 🔥

Good job, great video, straight to the point, detailed and use of camera angles really let's you see what your doing 👍 thanks for the content
🍻 thank you brother! It’s always a pleasure to help as I can
Another great to the point video. I did my PCV Valve when I did my spark plugs as I already had that bracket loose. The long extension from the other side is a great idea!
Always great to hear from you Donald! You’re one of the original gangsters of the channel
I just did this and your right, they’re fragile! I ordered the same one on Amazon and installed it today. As i was tightening it down it snapped into… i didn’t even start to torque it down yet. It didn’t take much lol. So I had to get a 3/8 extractor and cut off about a half inch for it to fit to remove the broken half with the threads. Pretty easy though, and i just put the factory one back in after I cleaned it. I’ll probably replace it sometime soon. Great informative videos and a great channel man!👌🏻
Dang! Yah any left or right play or even a strong wind can damage these guys. Thankfully they are cheap. Thanks for the words! More to come 🍻
Next project after I do the brake fluid flush. Thanks again brother.
🍻 our pleasure!
I replaced mine on my 2007 Tundra. So much easier on the Tundra. Thanks for the video
🍻 😌
I gotta start out by saying you are a master at camera angles. After watching this video and doing mine, I was amazed you were able to capture the footage you did. Also, thank you for taking the time to share the knowledge and answer the questions I had. Team Oil Drop ftw!!!
Thank you brother! 🧑 love those words. We will keep it up!
You are my hero. Helped me out so much already. Can we get a video on belt tensioner/ idler pulleys next?!
Thank you for the kind words and support. That is in the planning stages

It's greatly appreciated

What led to the diagnosis for this replacement? Or, if for demo purposes, what are the symptoms that might lead to the diag of failed PCV.
side note: I have had great luck using a bit of iso alcohol splashed on hoses with barbed plastic fittings. Dries quick, low voc, won't deteriorate any of the components. Just in case that PCV hose is not yielding easily to your prybar.
Frankly it was just time, most would recommend every 30k miles.
Honestly so many possible symptoms such as reduced MPGs and rough idle.
Good idea! I didn’t really need to pry anything, just the lack of space the turning of the flathead got the first bit of gentle push 😌
So every 30k miles @@teamoildrop

Thank you so much for the video. I'm going to mine this weekend. Do you believe it's better to swap the valve when the motor is warm or cold? I wasn't sure if one would help the valve from cracking like others have mentioned when they did it.
Thanks brother! Warmth could help a bit but cold would definitely hurt A LOT. Good luck and take it slow! Not hard, just fragile with age.
Did mine on my 2005 2nd Gen Taco recently with 140,000 miles. The original looked OK, but I figured it couldn't hurt to change it out.
Great to hear it seemed well at 140k. Dit it still rattle?
Greg the Editor
@@teamoildrop Seemed to rattle just fine. I did our 5th Gen 4Runner at 176,000 miles for the first time(!) and it was getting a little gummy but still rattled too. I won't let them go that long again. I have them on my maintenance tracker now to be done every 60k.
Most have this problem. if your taco has the dreaded timing cover leak, you should do a video. Just an idea.
If that ever happens to this old 2016 you can bet your butt it’ll be a very well made thorough video 😌
@teamoildrop mine has it. at some point this year, I plan on fixing mine. If you wish, I'd be glad to share as much as I can.
@@andresvalenzuela6338 sorry to hear that. I tell you the best place to share it with us is

The chrisfix of tacomas!👏
😌 🍻
At what milage should this be done?
Most would say every 30k 😌
How often should the valve be checked/replaced?
For a $9 part a check might as well be a replace 😌 Every 30k is a common interval
@@teamoildrop Thanks! Will add it to my 300k mile maintenance map
@@pherp1246 didn’t realize I was in the presence of a true maintainer 👑
My new one rattles. Is that normal? Want to make sure before I try to install it
Yes, the internal poppet is supposed to rattle.
Greg
Question. I can hear an electric arch type buzzing that seems to come from this area. The Toyota service writer blew it off saying that sound is the purge valve and normal. I saw another 3rd gen owner with a video of the exact sound who said he changed the PCV and the sound went away for a while and then started again. So, I guess the question is would the PCV make that type of sound if it were starting to fail?
Interesting. Noises are incredibly difficult to ID… can you post it in our discord?
@@teamoildrop I made an account and tried to upload video/audio but it won't upload/post.

Find a solution to this? Just noticed the same thing on my 19
Im guessing the PCV in the link also works for 2nd Gen Tacomas
Different part numbers
Greg the Editor
I was working on taking the PCV off as suggested, but it snapped about 3/4 the way down the threads. OUCH!! In other words I'm stuck and have no idea what to do. Any suggestions on how to remove the remaining threads? Some guy online had a similar incident and he used a 7/16" tap into the hole, but his was a Honda. Wonder if a 10mm would work, but then again, how am I going to get the right angle? Any suggestions appreciated.
Hey brother, in the discord? I’ve got some ideas.
So if I understand correctly you have 1/4 of the Valves threads still in the housing?
If that’s the case, can you work a pair of long neck pliers down in there with a rag or something on the end of the pliers? The rag would hopefully catch the threads… another idea would be maybe some snap ring pliers or similar, that open when you squeeze… pics in the discord can also help
Working from passenger side and laying over the engine will be your best course of action
@@teamoildrop Correct. About 3/4 of the remaining threads are still in there, nice and snug. I'm going to try the rag and see if that works, thanks.
@@ryoung6725 we don’t want to damage the housing either. Greg is also in the discord and we can help even more there if you decide op pop by
