He did what he did, then ditched his truck and ran through the apartments just out of view of the helicopter and went into one of his friends house or maybe his house that's not under his name. Once he opened that door, shut it and locked it that must have been the biggest sigh of relief in police chase history. If you know the city, the trick to getting away is to get close to the airport. The airspace there is restricted, so all helicopters have to get clearance to fly there, which can take a lot of time. Getting rid of the eye in the sky greatly increases your chances of getting away.
Airport has their own individual security force though, so it probably wouldn't work. On top of that they could probably halt all flights fairly quickly
