Three cheers for Caveman Riker!
My mind was really blown with the last one. Until now, I genuinely thought that was Jonathan Frakes under makeup.
...It was!
At first I presumed it was just Junkball's little joke. But thinking about it, it would make a lot of sense to use the stand-in, since the character doesn't talk. This would save the studio money, and free up Frakes to focus on other episodes. Win-win! :)
yeah, that was a joke
The most obvious for me was the admiral stunt double who fought Riker. That admiral ain't foolin' no one.
That was the reason I never noticed Rikers Stunt double in that scene.
mike pence punches caveman riker
3:16 worst fake Picard hair ever.
Data "gets 'Cosbied'"--so wrong💀
Yet so hilarious.
Now a word, apparently.
Watch Buck Rogers (1979). Nuthin' to it, no complaints.
Idk why but Riker sitting on an iceberg is the funniest thing ever.
When things get blown up on the bridge you get rocks..... Lol
should have used leggos but yeah, foam chunks,so no one actually got hurt. still, pretty laim.
No, they got stoned on the bridge. Then the munchies. Sorry for the lame joke 🤪
"u IDIOTS! this is not them. uve captured their STUNT DOUBLES!!!!" - is probably one of my fav quotes from Spaceballs
I've been getting a lot of Trek-centric channels in my recommends and I have to say Junkball is clearly the better of the bunch. Keep up the good work!
Senior Woodz which is sad I want more content from junkball :p
Try Steve Shives. He has an excellent channel talking about various moral and philosophical aspects of Trek. Also is pretty funny.
There are a lot. This is the only good one I've seen so far, because it doesn't take trek too seriously.
Everyone knows it's the rocks in the consoles that make them work properly!
Leon Kernan Exactly. Those multimodal reflections don't sort themselves.
They are dilithium crystals, right?
because star trek LITERALLY ROCKS!!!!!
Leon Kernan they should have used leggos
I was recently rewatching TNG Season 1 episode "Heart of Glory" and realized that when we see for the first time Geordi's visor vision, when he looks at Riker & Data, the people we see are actually the stunt doubles!
And I always thought TNG was a documentary. Seriously though as an 80's kid TNG looked so believable to me, it felt real.
Yeah all starships are made of rocks. Who doesn't know that?
weeeeeell..... this was 1990... the top resolution was 300p, on a good day, with good reception.
nobody would have gone around digging for crappy shots, except maybe hardcore fans.
True. I'm betting all these clips are from the HD collections on DVD.
I never noticed them
And tganks for the data nightmares
noticed data, and noticed some weird faces, but when I was a kid I did not think that it could be a double. Also because the action scenes are mostly so lame, i wouldn't needed a double, plus the doubles perform so bad, I would have guessed, it is because they are the actual cast who is bad at stunts
More like if anyone from the actual main cast did get hurt then all production would have a problem. So as unlikely as it may be the consequences would still be disastrous enough to be worthwhile to avoid. Main cast is really hard to replace, or work around.
I was a child
Willing suspension of disbelief. Plus people can have odd expressions or look different from different angles.
Um, I can't help but notice... Yesterdays Enterprise Sentence... "Before getting blown to death." Not intentionally, but given that it's Riker, and with his ladies man rep on the show... Man that was HILLARIOUS!!! LOLOOLOOL
I think for the most part they did a good job disguising the stunt double faces, you wouldn't notice them unless you pause the scene at exactly the right moment. In the original series, there were quite a few bad shots where the stunt doubles are clearly visible - the episodes Court Martial and Space Seed fight scenes come to mind, in which in both episodes feature Kirk fighting the villain in the engine room during the episodes' climaxes, and in both, you can clearly see Shatner's stunt double as clear as day without pausing the episode.
Jero Briggs yeah... Paul Baxley Sr. doubled Shatner back then... A LOT.....
Thanks for these great videos, and for coming back!
The woman pushed off the Enterprise boat was Patricia Tallman, of Babylon 5.
She's 60 and still got it. Magically red-licious.
It’s funny that she was a leading (okay, “member of an ensemble cast”) actress in her own right, on another sci-fi show, while acting as the primary Dr. Crusher double through the whole series and in to the movies.
Is she a tallman? :P
I'd love to see an episode with all ROCKS scenes in Star Trek
Might get boring after a while.
Thread Bomb Off course with scientific research on the causes of that phenomena. Maybe a plasma explosion in the special starship atmosphere turns the alloys used in consoles into ROCKS. Or maybe Caveman Riker knows about it ;)
2:14It's a cute scene, and "that" made it perfect.
The stunt double "cast shot" you open with is adorable 😍 Patrick Stewart *wishes* he was as cut as his double there though😂
3:43 that stuntman is featured heavily throughout star trek from 1979 to 2005. Tom Morga, most notable as the tall shape-shifter in ST VI The Undiscovered Country, a Starfleet member in uniform in the club scene from ST III, The Search for Spock, all the way back to the most prominent and back-breaking stunt work as the man in the space suit waving his arms at the enterprise as she is leaving space dock in 1979's The Motion Picture.
Dr. Crusher's double in Generations was Pat Tallman who did stunts for basically every redhead in existence, and who also played Lyta on Babylon 5
You meant "Data gets *Pill Cosby'd".
I always thought that it looked like Troi getting pushed into the water in Generations. I had thought they filmed it, then decided to change it to Dr Crusher getting pushed in, but used the same shot of Troi falling overboard.
Pat Tallman was Dr. Crusher's stund double. Oversight on the video. Loved her in Babylon 5.
Thanks for this :) we don't get enough love. I'm a stunt double, a photo double, and a stand-in when I'm not doing a role. The first team actors get all the glory but there's usually three or four other actors helping to create the illusion of the character. :)
"Caveman Riker" xD
Wow, never noticed until this video! Thanks for sharing!
I don't know why, I just love this video, how it's put together and the music!
FYI, Dr. Crusher’s stunt double throughout most of the series (and I believe for that fall from the boat in Generations) was Patricia Tallman, who played Leta Alexander on Babylon 5 as well as being Laura Dern’s double in Jurassic Park. She also has a brief cameo on TNG as a security officer.
During Generations Patricia Tallman was actually pregnant. She didn't tell anyone as she wanted to do it. If she'd told them they wouldn't have let her do it.
This is fast becoming my favorite channel
Enjoyable video, Thanks!
Patricia Tallman of Babylon 5 fame doubled for Gates McFaden. There is a picture of the two floating around, I believe from when Crusher gets shot in Datalore. Tallman also doubled for Laura Dern in Jurassic Park.
I love your new videos. Very entertaining.
Awesome!
I thought I knew all there was to know about TNG and Star Trek in general, but then I discovered your channel. These videos are amazing, thank you so much. xxx
My pleasure. Glad you like them.
DUDE!! !!!!!! - YOU BLEW MY MIIIIIIIIND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great video Junkball! Keep them coming!
Wow pretty good work stunt doubles. Love that joke to, we get rocks lol. So true and strange.
Great video.
Your videos are so great and a wonderful format to present this info, and they are hilarious! I'm learning a lot from watching them and I thought I knew a lot! Thank you!
“You idiots! You’ve captured their stunt doubles!”
nice like Everytime! i Love you Soundtrack
Caveman Riker was actually played by "Non" from Superman II. Non is such a great actor, they wanted to use him for ALL of Riker's scenes, but he can't talk, so they hired lookalike Jonathan Frakes to stand in for the dialog scenes. This is unfortunate as Frakes ended up getting all the credit, while Non was "non" credited.
I had picked out the doubles so many times, we made it a drinking game! After awhile you got so drunk, you were seeing double, lol. Fun times! Really, fun times!.
all your videos are great
Caveman Riker in 'Frame of Mind' when Worf is trying to teach the precision of using a blade, then accidently cuts his face!
Your videos are always amazing and funny af. Cavemen Riker :)
Conspiracy always made me laugh, so blatant a stunt double it's like an episode of Police Squad.
Another great video
Picard's double is actually really good. Very close bone structure.. If he wasn't so much younger and fitter I'd probably never notice. Data's looks nothing like him but I guess he works with lots of makeup.
In the Batman 1966 film, the villian fighting were totally seen facewise and only the Riddler's stunt double looked kinda like him while the other horribly did not.
My Favourite stunt double is the where the bad guys capture them in spaceballs
When they use a pro dancer as Data in the tap dancing part, did Dr. Beverly performed those moves herself?
Because if it was so, then Kudos to her!
Those were some impressive moves
Yeah, she has a background in dancing. That was her.
If They Did Not Have Stunt Doubles The Title Of The Show Might Of Been " Scar Trek The Next laceration "
In this video, "exscape" stunt doubles for "escape."
What's interesting is all the modern high definition televisions don't hide these doubles anymore. I can nearly see them all!
there is also a scene in the pilot movie where we see Data's stuntdouble, in the beginning where they are on the Holodeck and Wesley falls into the water, where Data is jumping over some stones.
I always thought the rocks were stupid lol.
Also... I love the voice over guys accent!
...He sounds Canadian, eh!
You go Dan Coco!
Caveman Riker. I always knew that guy pedaled Geico insurance on the side. Junkballs!
Cool idea for a video. Never seen this done.
ROCKS!
Well, its a pain with those Blue-Rays. Suddenly you see the stuntman, you see the make-up on Datas Face, you see the cheap plastic-props.....
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and I gotta say this was the best one I've seen so far.
Thanks. A few of these clips have been on my computer for years, so I'm happy to finally fit them into a video.
Now you can delete them FOREVER.
I always wondered about Worf’s knees in Generations. I always asked myself, “why are his knees bleeding?”. Thanks for clarifying.
In the TNG descent Episode when Riker Data and Worf were ambushed by the borg you could see Datas stunt double
I remember hearing that Brent Spiner was a Broadway actor before he appeared in Star Trek--he probably knew a bit of tap dancing already.
4:30 Double the Riker, double the fun.
Double the legs propped up on things.
At timeframe 3'43": even the admiral has a stunt double.
Sometimes they have to use stunt doubles for the rocks then they use stones.
You missed Patricia Tillman, she was both an extra and a stunt double in 50 episodes of Star Trek (across the three show based in the TNG era), as well as playing Lyte Alexander in Babylon 5. I believe that she was the stunt double that fell into the water in Star Trek Generations.
Brought to you by star trek "Rocks".
In those days they didn’t expect us to all have this technology
@Junkball
Thru RUclips CHANNEL SURF'N, I stumbled upon yours & LOVE IT.
Caveman Riker ... XD
4:24 ROCKS!!!
Data gets Cosby'd! Hahahaha
Cosbied --- LoL !
the graphics in this channel are really good. i know the rest is good but the graphics are actually pretty top-notch & fluid. they have that little bit extra polish on them.
ROCKS!?!!!
How did I not notice that?!
And WHY?!?
I think the most obvious stuntman sighting is of "Data" throwing Tasha Yar then jumping down in "The Arsenal of Freedom".
Dats's stunt double in Farpoint in the Holodeck has always been the most obvious one, but I've never bothered freeze framing the others to see their doubles though I assumed they were stunt people.
good video
wow, never noticed anyone of them...but yeah...they made this for small CRT TVs with PAL/NTSC format, often the episodes even got watched on VHS...so they could get away with some (now fairly obvious) shots. that changed now with the BR Version.
I wonder if Stewarts stunt double was hired for any of the X-men films?
Would you have noticed on the original TV or VHS releases? Probably lots of boo-boos noticeable on the HD releases that would be un-noticeable in the original low def airings.
No reference to Pat Tallman as Gates McFadden's stunt double. That's disappointing.
I remember her. A lot of people'd say WHAT'S THAT!, It's Pat.
Some fun trivia, in addition to being Gates McFadden's stunt double on TNG (and doing stunts and minor roles on several other Trek shows), she's also rather well-known for playing telepath and one-woman-weapon-of-mass-destruction Lyta Alexander on Babylon 5.
I know. That's why it was disappointing that he didn't mention her.
I figured you knew, I just wanted to throw that extra detail out there lol. I'm fascinated by finding out what people also did, like Gates McFadden being a choreographer who used to work for Jim Henson studios, or Leonard Nimoy being in the Army.
Wow I'm a fan of B5 and did not know that Pat Tallman was Crusher's stunt double. I suppose this must mean Mrs Tallman did all her own stunts in B5?
It played the starwars BB-8 roll drone commercial form me, but all i heard was Heroes of Might and Magic III new day music
2:14 Worth noting that Gates McFadden was a professional dancer and choreographer, so she didn't need a double.
I am so glad to see Junkball back and making quality Trek stuff sgain! Any chance of getting retrospectives of some other lesser known ships, like Grissom, or Prometheus?
Definitely thinking about it. I've narrowed it down to a few candidates.
Junkball Media Looking forward to seeing what gets the nod. I've been working on a book that covers every Star Trek game ever made. Im just now at the 90s games, when Interplay and Activision both had the Trek license. It's insane how many video games this franchise has.
I wonder who spawned more nightmares smiling Data or smiling Phlox...
The original series stunt doubles were extremely obvious.
Kind of reminds me of the Lucas Lee scene in Scott Pilgram.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've never noticed the stunt doubles before and now it seems so obvious.
Dan Coco? You go Dan Coco!
Cosby'd XD
I do recall when Marina Sirtis cracked her coccyx (sp?) doing a stunt.
If you haven't seen Pat Tallman on Star Trek then you just haven't been looking closely enough - She is often Dr Crusher, But Also Major Kira, and many many others of various races and series ...
nice music ...
2:18 Data looks like Dougie Jones in Twin Peaks!
