Darren, very informative videos all the time. Fun fact about the xpress wax: pull up the material data sheet and you'll see that up to 1% of this spray is a substance called "sweet orange peel tincture". This refers to the actual peel of a sweet orange, not the paint orange peel, and my guess is its in there as a fragrance and also as a mild solvent. It's about a 2 to 1 maceration of orange peel in alcohol, and its an ancient oil used as an antidepressant! As if this stuff wasn't versatile enough. Now we know why it makes us happy.
Bought this wax and it changed my life! Best stuff around for interior and exterior. This is a must have! I've been detailing cars for 40 years, and owned my own business, this is without a doubt a great product. Works just like Darren describes. Thanks Darren!
wow ok...avoid dry rot while conditioning them, a quick detail and window cleaner in 1? I am sold. Thanks for the video. By the way the b&c pillars are behind the doors and the trim on the doors are called applique.
bought this wax just because of this video. so far im very happy with the initial results especially the work its done for the outside trim on my 06 mustang gt. thanks again for your videos please continue making them i find them very informative. when a video leads you to immediately make a purchase you know the video was well made. this is the first time ive made a purchase straight from 1 video review alone. the information here was exactly what i got when my package arrived.
Darren, I came across one of your videos recently and I've been hooked ever since. So much of your knowledge is encapsulated in these videos and we are able to reap the benefits of your vast knowledge and experience. Your attention to detail is phenomenal and really helps those of us who are seeking a general understanding of the science behind products and technique. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos happen. Truly thankful!
So, some other uses I tried today after detailing my car and my hubby's motorcycle! Smooth top stove, dishwasher front, Ipad screen, cell phone screen and I'm not done yet!! Thanks for the heads up on this product!! Love it!
Karen Prim Good for you Karen. Sounds like you and me are cut from the same cloth. I am constantly trying Off-label; uses for everything in my world. Especially off-label use from the herd mentality of society.
Darren, thanks a million for showing the diversity of this product. I've been searching for what seems EONS to find something versatile enough to handle pillars and window trim without having to worry about over-spray onto the glass!
I searched your videos to see if you use any glaze before applying a sealant or wax. I came up with nothing. So my qestions is after you wash, clay, compound if needed, swirl remover, do you apply a glaze before you apply a sealant and wax? Also thanks for the reply on the X wax. I am ordering a gal. I want to use it in the door jam area like you had described in the video. To reduce the dirt build up and keep that area clean and spottless.
Ever since I got X-Press Spray Wax and I stopped using Meguiars Quik Wax, This makes my car look shiny after I do a maintanence wash on my car which is my first car used with 57k miles and people ask secrets but really just giving love care, love this stuff and the rover!
I used X-Wax for the first time on my 2 cars that are kept outside in the Florida sun. I specifically noticed what a great job it did on exterior plastics and trim. Thanks Darren for getting the word out on this great product. Work great on paint too.
man your videos are awesome. im a novice. however im a huge car guy. for some reason I love black cars. your videos are helping me make them show quality with out spending days working on them. my Shelby has never shined better. thank you sir.
Hi Darren, Have you also polished the windows ? I ask because they look amazing and the glass looks super crystal-clear. If you polished them can you please mention what tools did you used or even better if you have a video on that that would be awesome
hey Darren after 5 years of this video are you still use the xpress wax since there is a lot more product on the market now if you still have it can you please let us know what purpose it serves now for you
Am 25 years old been detailing cars for about 4 years and I been using this product for a year and it's the best out there for the price and use of spray wax sunny or not amazing product
Speaking of using Xpress wax inside the car. Apply a light coat on navi screen to cut down on fingerprints. It works. Your review has me using this stuff all over our vehicles. After I wash I blow 80% of the water off. Then Xpress wax glass, trim, plastic, everything. I even have my dad doing the same. Thank you.
This makes sense to me. Many years ago. When I obsessed over my car. I was young. I put liquid Meguiar's on everything that was outside the car. Rubber trim, plastic, glass, everything. It worked good. You go even farther with this. Appears to be even better than what I used. I believe it. Sounds great.
I too like Meguiars products, especially the high shine interior detailer. Based on this video, I bought a gallon of it and tried it last night. I like the reflective qualities on the car but found it to be streaky and leaving some spots looking for "wet" or stained than others. I didn't really like it on the windows either as it didn't wipe clean without a lot of attention. Also, because it is a wax, when the windshield gets wet it tends to bleed and run off. Am I doing something wrong? I don't believe I used too much product. Scott in Boston
the secret is micro fiber towels! I swear it. I HATE the things, but the VERY BEST cotton towels DON'T WORK! micro fiber is the trick and you'll feel it the VERY FIRST SWIPE! GUARANTEE IT!
After seeing the video last week, I gave the X-WAX a try. Fantastic so I ordered a gallon. This will be my go to spray wax, between paste wax applications. Thanks much for the very informative videos.
So glad you take the time to post your videos Darren - Thank you - your experience really helps us regular consumers - I have been using my first order now for over 4 months and still going strong - Great product to save time and make maintaining your car a breeze - it works great on my 99 Infiniti q45 - Dark green 3 stage paint and this makes it easy to keep it in shape between the big wax jobs.
Just ordered a gallon. Thanks for the info; I especially like the idea of how the product preserves the black molding and rubber trim. And you're right, there's nothing like empirical testing :)
I've moved on to blackfire synthetic spray wax - night and day difference - makes black cars absolutely beautiful - shine/depth/gloss/protection all 2 steps above megs
what you have described here reminds of this stuff I used back in the late 80s, it was called auri, it was a synthetic also....I used it on everything like you do with this x wax, I have been looking for something like this since then, I am gonna give it a shot....thanks
+Mario Menoscal I like it. I guess I'll have to make a video about my thoughts. It's simple and easy to use, though I'm not sure if it's as good a full wax job. It certainly is less work to use.
I finally got around to ordering this. Awesome product! What a shine, and leaves the trim and rubber all around the windows and doors nice and shiny. Definitely a must have.
AWESOME Video Derran, I was just wondering if you could ever do any Mothers product reviews or even just a quick video on why you've navereally used it or mentioned it in any details. I am trying to start detailing on the side and was going to use all mothers products to start off (maybe going to 3M for a higher quality). Just wondering why you've never said anything about Mothers and once again GREAT video!
Nik Fraitzl As a rule, Mothers is a retail product line. I use only one Mothers product and that is their SynWax. It is an excellent product and that is them trying to become more about professional grade products. But they still lack the level of performance you can find in true professional level products.
Auto Fetish Detail Thanks for the quick reply Darren! I agree Mothers is more like the weekend DIYer and that some of thier products are very good, but just one more question: Do you think it is a good product to start using for auto detailing on the side, somewhere around 2 or 3 cars per weekend?
i also like this wax; never thought to use it on the interior-super time-saving tip! I like a moderate sheen on the interior trim-Meguiars trim detailer is too wet and the interior cleaner does not have enough protection; this hits the sweet spot.
I just tried it on my own car today. It leaves a satin smooth finish, even on the stalks on the steering column and power window switches. What a great tip!
got myself some of this, brilliant product. i can now wash the car then wipe down the paint, glass and trim with great results and only one product, as you say Darren its about cutting to the chase and keeping it simple.
Darren, Kudos on your master of English language. Great video as this is the first I've heard of this specific Meguiars product. Meguiars should pay you or provide you free products. Your extremely articulate, and a virtual walking, talking thesaurus, and more quality adjectives than I can count! If you ever retire from detailing, market yourself to one of the big, "As seen on TV" companies that sell a given product or service. Kinda like the Ginsu Knife that slices, dices, peals and pears! Is it possible to use this product in a foamer or diluted into a spray device hooked to your hose, or is this strictly a spray on and wipe/buff off product? Lastly, is this a water based product or synthetic formula of some type? Once again, thanks for putting out a quality RUclips video, and sharing your knowledge, skills & positive attitude. Continued success~ William ~
Wm. Sturman I have not tried the product diluted down. I like it just the way it is and in my world, I don't have to overthink the cost of most products. And yes, I wish Megs would start handing me out free product. As of now, I still have to pay just like everyone else. And glad you are enjoying the extensive metaphors and adjectives; not all people share your thoughts on my verbose dissemination of information.
Hello Darren. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your informative videos. I'm a "driveway detailer" who just purchased a vehicle with only 9100 miles on it. I wanted to do the "day one" approach with the black trim on the exterior and your recommendation of x-wax. I noticed that some areas are a touch splotchy after wax application and wondered if you would recommend a thorough cleaning with IPA first then using the x wax? Thanks for all your insight. Very informative and practical as well
Thanks for the video. Car waxes have always been very confusing to me. For your hand protection I noticed you have black gloves. Do you have a specific preference on those? Thanks
hey Darren this is JP from San Diego... I've watched almost all your detail videos for cars.. my question is I can't find Meguiars wheel brightener for my dodge charger at any store.. does wheel brightener damage alloy machine finish rims? I have water spots on my Windows and on my body paint.. I'm a bigg fan of your videos..
Darren, I picked up your use of this on the interior and couldn't be happier with use on plastic trim and dash and also door jams. I am looking at trying to implement it's use as a quick overall go to for your maintenance detail like you have suggested because I am starting to have customers that only want me touching their vehicles after a do a full paint correction and sealant detail. My question is in regards to the use on the glass and also the wheels. I am a huge advocate for using hydrophobic coatings for the exterior of glass and also sealants for the wheels to help with water roll off the glass and the sealant keeps the brake dust and road grime down. Do you have an experience with using x-press over these coatings and sealants as far as the x-press wax diminishing these sealants and coatings properties since you are effectively introducing a synthetic polymer coating over the coatings and sealants? My niche in detailing has been using high end products that produce a superior end result along with paint correction and sealants. This keeps me from having to compete with the quick or car wash based detailers. My reluctance is to cover up those superior products that are applied every 6 months to a year with something that is easily achieved by your quick detailer and my customer not being able to see the difference in the end result. I would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Great advice havent used these on the windows, black trim, or interior yet because I have other products for that, however after this video I did try using the xwax on the headlights/sidemarkers/wheels and dude this product rocks!
just use the meguires quick spray wax..or turtle wax ice. .both are excellent products will keep your vehicle looking good..keep my car done once a week. .get alot of good compliments on how good it looks.
Exquisite vehicle. A wax that can go on the entire exterior? I can die happy now. Oh, the interior, too? My heart just stopped for a moment. Thanks for introducing me to this product. 7:34 pine needle in the grill?
gantmj I'd like to see him actually use it on interior especially the dash I don't believe it would work and it would be sloppy and white residue as for the seats it would be slippery as an eel
I just bought a gallon of Meguiar's D115 rinse free express wash. I'm not a detailer and don't want to spend any more, do you think this D115 will work on the interior similarly to the Xpress?
This stuff has been in my garage for a while. It's an excellent product with many uses. I use it as a wax as well as a drying agent when I waterless wash my Audi A5 with ONR. I really can't say enough good things about this product. If you're on the fence, spend the money. It's worth 3x what you'll pay for it. Versatile, easy to apply and remove, relatively cheap, and it works better than any spray wax I've ever used.
I like these videos. Darren you are so straight forward, no bs....which is great. Very straight to the point and you have no problems saying what products work and dont work. question for you tho, on your average family car details (i know you do alot of high end cars) but on your standard family car detail....do you use any form of a pressure washer? if you do, how often?
I am very impressed, I often find myself looking endlessly for the best product for this and that when Meguires makes some of the best products around and at the best price. I have purchased Meg's a.p.c. & super degreaser thanks to your videos and this is another fine product I will add to my arsenal. Thanks
Hi Darren - I love your explanations and product reviews. Thank you for taking the time to share them. Two questions: how long have you found the protection from the spray wax to last, especially on the exterior plastic bits after a rain? Also, do you use this instead of traditionally harder coatings like paint sealants or in addition? Thanks!
One contradiction - The leather seat video you use the meguiars all purpose cleaner full stop. Do you use this for protection (now), after using the cleaner... or does this wax have some cleaning ability? OR is this preservation use only and APC for restoration (see I was listening)
Do you just use the wax, as a cleaner? Or do you clean it first? Do you just use good old-fashioned car Wash cleaner and a sponge or do you use some sort of a product for that also?
I use it on leather as well but recently purchased a Porsche with Alcantara/leathers seats so I still do the leather by spraying it on a rag and avoiding the Alcantara. My question for you though I have Lizard green stitching in the black leather will this product darken/change the green stitching over time? Presently I avoid going directly over the stitching when using the damp Xpress towel.
Fantastic information on the Synthetic Xpress wax. I had no idea you could use this product on such a variety of materials on vehicles. I will be buying my xpress in a gallon size this weekend. Memorial day sales are everywhere on detailing sites. Thanks for the information, this is awesome. Can't wait to try it on the various parts of my vehicles. Thanks again
Darren, I just wanted to say that you're not only a great detailer, but a great teacher as well! Your videos give so much knowledge and insight, and the results of your work are nothing short of phenomenal! I'm moving to SoCal in June, and I'd love to get a bi-weekly schedule going with you! Again, awesome videos.
In the other video you did, you said Fuzion was better then Meguiar`s.. Are you saying that instead of using any other wax, this serves as a good all around wax..?
Thanks Darren, I appreciate so much you sharing your insights and discoveries. Sounds like a fantastic efficiency improvement - no more separate waxing, window cleaning and trim dressing and then for each one having to wipe overspray and/or residue off surrounds, etc. just spray wax and buff the lot! Can't wait to give this a try!
I'd just like to know what camera you are using for this video?LolIn market for a good camera/video and know nothing about cameras but the quality on this has sold me!!!Haha!!
Thanks Darren. Wish I could thumbs up more than once!!! I would really like to see a demo in regards to the cleaning in and around scripting and emblems. Like with the Rang Rover script that can be seen on the hood at the 2:32 mark.
DisposableHero You can use a steamer which is very pricey, or you can use Super Degreaser and a detailing dusting brush to clean around carefully, Perhaps a tooth brush might be necessary if it is especially heavy. Just use caution with the brushes on the paint. www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/best-degreaser.html
Great video! I bought this product after watching this video but I do have a question for you. My wife's new car is black when I use this product I can see oily type marks in different parts of the paint I wipe and wipe and it is still there help please Darren think you buddy. Paul
Paul Rhodes I know what you are talking about, but do not struggle with that too much. What I can tell you is that believe it or not, not all paint is created equal and when it comes to black paint, there is black paint out there that for some reason, just requires more work to get truly uniformed results. This wax is the most full proof I have ever used, but you still have to finesse it at times. Try experimenting with how much you are using. I have found as a rule, most people tend to use too much, rather then too little. I wish you luck; let me know....
one thing is an absolute "for sure!" us to use a high quality micro fiber towel and don't over wet it! my car is ultra dark quartz (blue/gray, sometimes mistaken for black) and it NEVER comes out smeary! Keep in mind I swipe it lightly with a CA duster first and follow w the spray but I do it EVERY day. (sometimes more!)
Flat vinyl decals, will the xwax do a good job on those? I know normally wax is a no go, but I would love something to prevent UV damage long term on my vehicle.
I bought this product a few months back and have some questions still. On the container the wax comes in, it says to use it on a wet vehicle. But from this video it looks like the car is already dried. What steps did you take to make the car look so new?
Thanks for your video Darren. I didn't expect you could use the spray wax on the windows! It certainly makes it easier. does it smear when you wind the windows up and down? and also do you clean the windows with a window cleaner before you use the spray wax on them? Cheers mate.
Would you recommend using the press wax when I'm drying my Matte black finished wheels? Can I spray a mist on my wheel and wipe it dry to rid off any water spot on the matte black wheels? Thanks Daren!
Nice! Great video as always! Two questions though: Can the X- Wax be used as claybar lubricant? Also, do you think it would make sense to do the wheels with X-Wax? Thanks, let me know.
the range rover vehicle you said every two weeks you maintain it. How much would you charge someone for this type of wash where its only twice a month? and the X-wax you just use straight right?
Darren, I was looking at buying the Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax, Ultimate Quick Wax, and the Black on Black (Black leather for after cleaning with the Meguiar's All purpose.) Now after watching this video I was thinking I do not need the Ultimate Quick Wax or the Black on Black and just get this. Would that be correct? Also thanks for the videos and website. So much information that is very helpful!
Christopher Owens I still use Black on Black as some black interiors need extra shine in order to create a uniformed appearance. Also, the Synthetic Xpress was is a maintenance wax product. All my cars have a base coat of either a paste wax (like Ultimate past wax) or a synthetic sealant. So the simple answer is I still carry and use all of them. Every car is a case by case judgement call.
Hi, I have a question about the wax. I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk on the hood it has a vinyl mat black sticker "Glare Sticker". Would that cause any damage like whitening of the vinyl? Also if I'm not detailing it as often as I should will it start to cause black trim to turn white?
Maybe it's just the time of day/lighting in the video but that Range Rover looks immaculate! I didn't notice any flaws. Probably done by a good detailer!
Great video very detailed about the product and answered the three day question of what wax will I be using. And to everybody else Stop complaining like a bunch of girls let the man talk he’s putting you on game about how to do it the right way who raised you anything in like worth having is worth waiting for.
Hi Derren, great video. I had been using the express wax and loved it, but after seeing your video and learning about it's other applications, I love it even more and can't wait to use it. Derren, when you price an entry level detail at $150, I noticed that it only mentions upholstery and not leather. If a customer wanted an entry level detail but has leather, would you just bump them up to the $250 detail?
Jorge Sanchez I would still charge the $150, and simply do a wipe down of the leather rather than scrubbing it for a thorough cleaning. I honestly get very few people who take the time to look at my website that want the $150 job. most everyone wants the $250 or higher.
Hey Darren, greetings from Portugal. You mentioned in this video that you replaced other products by the Meguiar's Synthetic Xpress spray wax for the interior enhancement. Is Stoner black trim shine (that you have used in the past for door jams, plastic trims, etc) as well as Chemical Guys Black on Black included? Or are they just other options for other situations? Always a pleasure to learn with you. Thank you very much. Miguel Gomes
Miguel Gomes I still use all the products you mentioned. Every car is unique in some way and I want as many "tools" (products) to get the results I am after. If you understand a products benefits and limitations, then you can use them in a way that you get maximum results.
All these guys can talk less and show us more about the product but their videos would be 5 minutes long. I've used this product and can attest to what he claims but they all like to listen to themselves. Yet, I can appreciate that I don't have to test every product in a saturated market to come to the conclusion that the daily testers come to. They work hard to show us real results. Thanks #autofetishdetail
Would you use this on the controls such as steering wheel (rim) or pedals? Would D156 leave anything behind to allow "slip" when turning the steering wheel or pushing the pedal?
Darren, very informative videos all the time. Darren, try Maquiars Paint Protect. Easier to apply than the spray, no buffing. Downside, regular customers wont need to be rewaxed as often.

good video gota try this iv been afraid of most wax products ruining my rubber trim/weather striping
Continued success~
William ~
Very informative and practical as well
I am on my second gallon I think I use up at least one gallon for 14 months. I think I will buy one each year and make it my normal routine.
Darren you're Amazing. Sadly, not all products you're use isn't available in My Country. Sorry for bad English
don't you have to remove the traffic film out of the rubber sels b4 you Seal them?
Darren,
I picked up your use of this on the interior and couldn't be happier with use on plastic trim and dash and also door jams.
Great product a little hard to get hold of here in the UK used it yesterday for the first time on my new Smart car and the shine is amazing
mark bowie you can order from ultimate finish mark
Hi Richard yes I got from them super fast postage
That SUV looks flawless, both inside and out. Excellent job!
just use the meguires quick spray wax..or turtle wax ice. .both are excellent products will keep your vehicle looking good..keep my car done once a week. .get alot of good compliments on how good it looks.
Great tips. Wow your site is on the SBI platform. Dr. Ken would be so proud of you.
Exquisite vehicle. A wax that can go on the entire exterior? I can die happy now. Oh, the interior, too? My heart just stopped for a moment. Thanks for introducing me to this product. 7:34 pine needle in the grill?
Yes and it works great - so glad Darren posts his videos to inform us consumers about great products - Thank you Darren!
gantmj I'd like to see him actually use it on interior especially the dash I don't believe it would work and it would be sloppy and white residue as for the seats it would be slippery as an eel
Thanks
Try the wheel brightener also! It's awesome
+RobbbNY thank you, I certainly will.
I can't get the links to Amazon on your website to show up. It's just a line on your website but nothing's there
Impressive product. Informative video. My favorite series on the entire channel. Well done, Darren. Thank you.
I just ordered the wax thank you. I will let you know how I like it
Fantastic information on the Synthetic Xpress wax.
That Range looks brand new
Thanks for sharing ! Would this product be safe on tinted windows ? Thanks
Darren,
I just wanted to say that you're not only a great detailer, but a great teacher as well!
Your videos give so much knowledge and insight, and the results of your work are nothing short of phenomenal!
I'm moving to SoCal in June, and I'd love to get a bi-weekly schedule going with you!
Again, awesome videos.
Thomas Mullen, Jr. Bring it on!!! and thanks for watching along!
I'm a big Meguairs fan but switched to Eagle 1 Nano Spray, much better and longer lasting.
Best of all it's an otc grab.
I'd just like to know what camera you are using for this video?LolIn market for a good camera/video and know nothing about cameras but the quality on this has sold me!!!Haha!!
Depends what your price range is really. You can get this quality with an iPhone easily
I am buying a new 2017 civic and the x wax looks great.. Are you still using it today. 11/23/16
You a great detailed car and it's already done . With a bottle of spray that we are supposed to believe did it
Thanks Darren.
Thanks sir, just a quick question can it's safe to use on my car leather interrior, thanks
So are you saying that you didn't use any other wax except Xpress wax on this vehicle..?? No paste wax or anything under the X wax..?
he said he uses it for "maintenance" so maybe paste wax every so often?
Flat vinyl decals, will the xwax do a good job on those? I know normally wax is a no go, but I would love something to prevent UV damage long term on my vehicle.
and now there are two types of this wax... the one you have it here and the new model: high gloss shine. what is better? thank you again!
I bought this product a few months back and have some questions still. On the container the wax comes in, it says to use it on a wet vehicle. But from this video it looks like the car is already dried. What steps did you take to make the car look so new?
how do u get to the top of taller vehicles without leaning up on it and scratching it?
Darren great videos n information! Is Meguiars Quick Wax similar to the Express Wax? Thanks!
Thanks, let me know.
will you suggest to use this on a new car? to avoid problems in the future
How does the Meguiar's Synthetic Xpress wax compare to the shop brought Meguiars Ultimate wax range.
the range rover vehicle you said every two weeks you maintain it.
I got my first nice car recently and just ordered a gallon of this stuff... now I feel like detailing my friends cars too!
Auto Fetish Detail Understood. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
all these cars garaged everyday. how about cars that are outside all day everyday. you should try a series of videos about these type of cars
Just ordered 2 gallons plus the spray bottle for $61 can wait to try it it's going to be the first time I wax a car
Any advice video on how to repair windshield wiper scratches? Thank you.
Sorry one more question is this better than meguiars A1216 Cleaner Wax Liquid
Would you use this on the controls such as steering wheel (rim) or pedals? Would D156 leave anything behind to allow "slip" when turning the steering wheel or pushing the pedal?
so meguiars synthetic xpress wax Is the same as meguiars ultimate spray Way?
