- Chick Corea was one of the greatest, most versatile, and creative musicians to ever tickle the ivories. I've transcribed several of his works in the past few years (Spectacle, Spain, Love Castle, Pastime Paradise, This Nearly Was Mine, and a previous version of Armando's Rhumba) and each time I realize that his style and improv is much harder than it sounds. His ability to improvise complex melodic lines and voicings was unsurpassed. Here's to Chick Corea!

As many of you have heard, Chick Corea passed away earlier last month. I'm publishing this transcription in honor of his exceptional music. Let's keep Chick alive through playing these transcriptions!
Sheet music trivia (first to answer correctly gets PDF): What did Chick call his fingers?
drumsticks?
He called them "10 drumsticks" I think
@@simondekkerlinnros2594 Not quite!
Ten drummers?
Great transcription! I was lucky to see him play in concert and was taken aback by his muting of the piano strings. I heard that Chick is famous for viewing the piano as a percussion instrument, saying they're like "Eighty-eight tuned drums! My fingers like 10 drumsticks!". See here for a source: www.allaboutjazz.com/chick-corea-chick-corea-by-mark-sabbatini.php
This is fantastic and a great way to pay tribute to such a legend!
Unbelievable! Chick seemed almost extra terrestrial in both ideas and execution of them. And fabulous job on the transcription!
Very well said, and thank you!
Huge job!!!! Congratulations and thank you for sharing!!!!
Chick RIP
Wow, amazing transcription. So complex, yet Chick had the ability to make it sound effortless. Great tribute/transcription to a master! 🙏👍
This was definitely my first attempt to Chick Corea music 7 years ago. It sounded unpleasant to my ears at that time, but I found it somewhat interesting. Then I kept listening to his music and he became my foremost inspiration to modern Jazz, very different from how classic Jazz sounds. But above anything, Chick Corea is a great human being, encouraging others, being humble, and a lifetime of bringing joy to other human beings. I don't rephrase other people comments about Chick Corea. I met him in person and saw how beautiful he was as a human being. Thanks for your tribute to his exceptional music.
Excellent transcription.
I swear this is Chick playing! Spectacular transcription TG! 👏🏻👏🏻
Great job! One of my favourite versions from the Jazz Legends series. :)
Hi Timothy, great job on this wonderful interpretation of Chick!
Great job ! Thanks for sharing 👍!
This is just flawless. Wonderful job.
Thanks, much appreciated!
Great challenge to transcript Congratulations!!!!. I think that chick imagined this version in 2/4 . It's seems more simple to read...but not to play. Chick had a huge imagination and never repeated himself in many differents versions (and transcriptions) of this standard.
RIP great Master
And Thank you TG
Great work sir..
Variations on a Theme ..... amazing .....
Stunning job bro! 👏🏼
Wow, this is awesome!
This is just.... I have no words... I love this, Im in this
Thanks so much Bill, Chick was a treasure!
Great ! you transcribed exactly what and how he played !
This is incredible! I've watched this specific video so many times. I don't even have to go look. Chick is a little large, playing a grand piano facing to the right in front of a small crowd. Thank you so much for this, it must have been hard work! Think you'll do the version from the Antidote album? The intro is awesome.
Fabulous..
Gracias, muy buena interpretación.
Con mucho gusto
🤩🤩 Excellent
Amazing good job man !!! 😵🎹👍
Wow, nice work Timothy
thanks
GOOD JOB BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His music sounds like a cross between an anime op and jazz with some classical. It's cool.
Greeeeeeeat!
Fabulous work you have done ! I would encourage you to ALWAYS add the hooks for all triplets. They are crucial in sight-reading. And hooks help a great deal to differentiate the '3' from fingerings, because... yes, there can be embarrassing ambiguity... Cheers
legend,
Wonderfull job
Great job! But too many questions about chord functions. E. g. In measure 104 you call it Db alt. It consists of D-A-F-Gb-Ab-Db. b9 and #5 in bass? Are you sure? It looks more as some kind of Dmaj #11... Then in 106 comes Db#5 which resolves to Cm.
You'd have to be a massive hater to give this a thumbs down or play better then this. I'd die to play like this. Great work!!!
Thanks Anthony, Chick's playing was incredible, I don't understand how he could improvise this stuff on the fly!
Chick has superhuman time man. 2:20 how the hell does he not lose the downbeat there
How to understand thumbs down ??? 😡🤬😡 Congrats Timothy, once again
what's the name of the song at the beginning of the video?
It's Cory Henry playing Stevie Wonder's All I Do. i've transcribed it here-ruclips.net/video/UWeSrfE35Wc/видео.html
@@TimothyGondola thank you
미춋다!
does anyone know what the intro music is?
Cory Henry's "All I Do" by Stevie Wonder. I transcribed it here: ruclips.net/video/UWeSrfE35Wc/видео.html

pretty sure that chord at 104 is actually Dmaj7(#11), not Db alt. Also I’d have notated the following passage in sharps.
Katie Frisk
- However, there is a fast movement in the bass Db- D
The second chord has a B natural in it
