What a super lesson! Reading Rhythm off the page is my weakest thing. I use the lyrics to help me when there are any. I can play about 3 - 4 Dave Brubeck numbers. looking forward to this one. Another player I'd be interested if you can do something about is Dudley Moore. His early playing from the 1960s is truly amazing. Search "The other side of Dudley Moore". You'll be surprised. His versions of "Indiana" , "Just in Time" and "They can't take that away from me" live with Ray Brown and Nick Ceroli are especially good.

Dear Maestro, thank you very much for this effective lesson on the composition of the great Chick. I really appreciate your teaching style: you are very good and you may be haughty but instead you present the lesson in a natural way, a chat with a friend. Ciao from Rome Italy.

And of course there's the great video of Chick Corey and Gary Burton, when Chick seamlessly moves from vibes (!) to piano at the end

Last chords of the B section (in my new real book) seem to be corrected to:
    Eb/Bb | % | Bb7sus(b9) | E7#9 Eb6/9 | E F Gb | G7
[edit] These are also used in some of the japanese transcriptions I have...
That's kind of how I always play it but Chick seems to have a bit of a free interpretation of this song where he might substitute or alter some of the harmony. He played this song in so many different settings and variations that it becomes almost like a concept instead of a song.
