  • A batch of t-shirts was my inspiration to create this fabric from scraps. These fabric collages work great for embellishments on shirts or other projects. Join me while I create the new fabric and embellish a t-shirt with it. I also show a bracelet made from the same fabric. Enjoy!

    Julia it is so helpful for me when you narrate exactly what you are doing in addition to your RUclips demonstrations. Just wanted to throw that out there there that it is extremely helpful to both hear and see your process. You are a total inspiration. Thank you so much.

    Hi Julia! I wanted to let you know that this kind of video (where you lay all sorts of pieces down and free motion over them, plus add decorative stitches to recreate your own fabric) is my favorite kind of your videos. I've watched your channel for years and even bought from you in the past. I've wanted to try this method forever. Today is the day Julia! Today is the day! I have everything I need to make my own fabric. I'm on to do it now. Thanks for the nudge!

      Hi Valerie, I'm so excited that you want to give this a try. This type of creative fabric can be used in many ways. I've showed this technique before- I'm glad you don't mind me repeating myself. Sometimes I just film my current project without trying to reinvent the wheel LOL! Thanks so much for your continued support.

    I love using this technique! As I sew, I toss all fabric snippets and scraps, plus thread, yarn & embellishment clippings in those clear Dollar Tree shoe boxes - organized by color. When I want to make my own fabric, I just grab the boxes I need and get creative.

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  2 года назад +1

      I love your storage idea! Those clear boxes are good for so many uses. I like the idea of saving yarns etc by color as well as the fabric. I'm going to do this! Enjoy your day!

    Turned out beautiful! You are so creative, Julia. Isn't it amazing that when you add black and white accents to something very colorful, that it makes it "pop" even more. When the creative juices are flowing and you get another idea, sometimes you just need to take the "detour" and then get back to your original project -- that's just creative energy. Thanks for another great video!

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  2 года назад

      I like how you call it "creative energy" instead of a "bunny trail" Ha! I agree with the black and white fabrics. They really help bring it together. Thanks so much for watching, Julia

    Hi Julia....I've got the scraps, netting, ribbons, solvy,....so what's holding me up? Tonight it's the possibility of some strong thunder storms coming up from the South, along with its world famous heat and humidity. Thank goodness for Central Air! Thanks for the good ideas. Love the wrist bands.

      Hi Phyllis, The heat and humidity is coming here this weekend too. I'm sure my little shop will be slow. I'm glad I can bring my sewing machine and get projects done while I'm working my "other job"-ha! I think you sent me this quote ( a long time ago) "I was going to do something today but I haven't finished doing nothing from yesterday". I hope to use it in an upcoming project, I love it and it is the story of my life! I can waste more time doing nothing! Have a great day, Julia

    I wanted a framed picture to match a quilt I made. I took some fabric scraps and fused wonder under on the back. Cut the fabric into strips. Took my scissors and sniped pieces onto a muslin fabric backing, being careful to have the fusible side down. After I got all the pieces on I fused them down. I sewed a large heart doily to the center. Mated it and put it in my frame that had glass. I didn't do any stitching to hold the pieces down because it had a glass. Hope this makes sense.
