You’re not only a great teacher with lovely energy and spirit, but you have such a wonderful eye for color and texture. I can’t thank you enough for this inspirational video! 💜
You have made me addicted to fabric collaging. Pulling out all those bits & pieces I have save for one day projects. I find it relaxing just sewing over the fabric & trims etc.
Thank you so much Julia...... I really love 💕 those beautiful pieces you’ve made, so awesome and stunning and beautiful. I’m going to have a go at this. Oh, and wow I’m going to tell my sister about you!!!!!! She’ll love 💕 watching you too.
Julia, I love your videos, your tone of voice, your instruction. I have done some of this, but you make it look so easy. I must get back to it. Thank you.
As a 'foundation' for your bracelets/cuffs - use the plastic from pop bottles or yogurt containers - they can get wet from sweat or rain??? Will stand up to more wear that the cardboard. I love this idea - so glad I happened on to your video! I wonder even if covering it with the plastic of Pepsi bottles - they are smooth - and finishing the edge with a paracord weave - oooow - I have had such a shot of inspiration from you! Thank you for posting!
This looks like so much fun! I'm so glad that I found your videos. I have a bunch of leftover zipper pieces and I will incorporate those into one of these. Thanks!!
Hi Julie, My husband and I have escaped the MN winter this year and are spending it in FL. I am listening the weather back home and can't believe all the cold and snow! We will be heading back in 3 week. I do love and miss MN. My son and daughter-in-law live in St. Paul:)
So beautiful..i want to do that later this summer on one of my dresses or jackets. .thank you so much for your wonderful videos. They are so nicely made and fun. By the way love love love the cuff and paper towel roll. Never would of thought.
Very lovely work! Great tutorial and I love your bagged scraps by color idea! I am glad you showed the book by Carol Ann Waugh - I will look that up. I have seen her companion video on Craftsy.
To me this is fun sewing. Mindless playing. I have used your free motion techniques and it relaxes the fear of doing free motion. And using all the decorative stitches our machine has given us.
FANTASTIC tutorial, thank you so much for sharing your very inspiring technique with us. I so want to make my Art Journal cover this way now. I have loads of Soutache braids and laces I can use. I can also picture a really nice Boho style cuff bracelet done using this technique. I love your end results so much in all the colors shared.
Thank you. I am starting to sew design. Want to do stuff like this...abstract...recycle...but did not know what it was called...or how to...you just caused my paridym to shift Thank you Stacy
Hi Stacy, I am so glad you found the video inspiring. I too love to use up my scraps and create from recycled items. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching. Julia
me too - I'm from Iowa and now IL, and my favorite accents have always been MN & Canadian! (I don't understand why people like southern accents at all; I don't mean to be mean at all but to me, a southern accent gives me the impression/feeling the person is not very intelligent - I know it's not true and have no idea why I get that feeling it just pops into my mind -apologies to all southerners.)
Thank you for sharing such creative ideas, and showing us in a way that is easy to understand. I have been looking for some quilt art techniques to get me inspired to jump into this area of fabric art. I am watching your video’s, and happily planning some fun projects for the Winter. Happy Winter!!!!
Hi Shirley, I love experimenting with fabric art. It is very forgiving, if you mess up you can always it up or get the seam ripper out. LOL. Thanks for watching, Julia
I just stumbled on this video today and I love it. I’ve started doing some fabric collage and mixed media fabric pieces and have been inspired by you for sure. You mentioned you were in Minnesota. I just moved to Saint Cloud a little over a year ago

Hello, I love this video and these techniques are something I plan to explore. I loved the pendants you made. Have you done a video on them and the foiling around the outside? Thank you
Hi Jill, I did a soldering technique around the edges of this pendant. Honestly, I'm really bad at it! It takes the right equipment and lots of practice.
I am in the UK, Ive never heard of heat n bond till now. But on looking on the web there seems to be several thicknesses, what one are you using please? I am a total beginner. Many thanks for a very inspiring tut

Really enjoyed the video, the projects you created and all of the color!!! One quick question - when you sew with all of the gorgeous variegated threads, what type of thread do you have in your bobbin? Thanks so much!
Hi, I use a single glass. It is 2.1mm thick (2 pieces together are 3/16 inch thick). There are several Etsy stores that sell the glass. I use a 3/8 Inch Copper Foil Tape to wrap around the piece. The fabric is sandwiched in between. Thanks for watching. Julia
Sadly I couldn't watch all of your machining as I think there was a fan on which threw a flashing reflection over it, (not a moaner but I'm epileptic) The rest of it tho was wonderful......I love your work, have seen other clips and it's all so inspiring I do similar stuff with paper, my real love is knitting but I love all textiles

Hi Michelle, I do use bobbin thread. I get mine at JoAnns. It is a bit thinner than other thread and strong. So glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for getting back to me! Can't wait to try this! :)
For the glass pendants, did you just use single strength glass or is there a glass made specifically for pendant use?
Hi, I use a single glass. It is 2.1mm thick (2 pieces together are 3/16 inch thick). There are several Etsy stores that sell the glass. I use a 3/8 Inch Copper Foil Tape to wrap around the piece. The fabric is sandwiched in between. Thanks for watching. Julia

Whats is the name for the paper ?and is their alternatives please?

do you use these as placemats? and are they washable?
Hi Char, They are washable- I wash them to get the solvy out. I cut pieces of my fabric collages and use them in other projects.
Thank you:)
