This is the prettiest cover I ever saw! Now I HAVE to learn how to sew! Just the inspiration I needed today on my first day of quitting smoking because with the money I will save I am buying a sewing machine
Hi Julia I was really looking forward to this tutorial and, as always, I wasn’t disappointed. It is an easy Easter gift for someone. I plan to make one for my lovely daughter-in-law and the girls can fill some of the papers with memories and special memories for her. I was bought a sprocket printer for Christmas and this prints out little photos which can be personalised. They have adhesive backs so are perfect for journals. I hope she will be thrilled with her gift. Hope you are all keeping safe Julia, quite scary for everyone. We are holding our breath on my granddaughter’s wedding in three weeks and praying it won’t be cancelled. Send all my love to you Julia and all your viewers, keep safe everyone. Big hugs and loves xxxxxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻❤️😘🌟
Hi Dorothy, Praying for your granddaughter and her wedding. What a shame after so much planning and work. Everything will work out! I too have a a little printer that prints from my phone's camera roll. I need to dig it out and use it! Stay safe Dorothy! Julia
stitchesbyjulia you too Julia, not too confident at the moment on the wedding, we are all staying home at the moment, hope you and your family are all safe and well. Sending you and all our lovely community lots of love and positive thoughts, we will beat this together xxxxxx Dorothy 🌟🙋🏻❤️😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Julia. I’ve been poorly 10 days coughing and breathing difficulty. You’re really helping me through it. Just hearing your tune at the beginning cheers me! Keep up the lovely work xxx
Thank you, Julia, for the clear tutorial and the extra tips, like using the gesso! And your bunny drawings are heartwarming and Beautiful. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bunny! THANK YOU
I LOVE these!!! I'm into bunny lately. So I'd like to do this someday when I finish my current journals. Thx for the great video and instructions!!! Austin,TX USA
@@stitchesbyjulia wow that was unexpected, Thank you, I’ve been following you a while too just kept forgetting to comment, got my fabric out recently so was lovely to revisit some of your wonderful videos x
I really like your appliqué technique on the cover so effective ! And the simple way you added the signatures, I can’t wait to go and start making them.
So happy to see this journal make...it's fabulous and can't wait to start working on these!💖 Glad you liked my little tip on the Solvy, such a time saver isn't it 😉! Thanks again for sharing / teaching all your creativity with us! Be safe💖
Oh my goodness--such a fabulous project as always! You always have new genius techniques to teach me. Your videos are really a treasure trove of amazing-ness. Stay safe.
Hi Julia, I just love your journals (and everything else you make) I got so excited when I saw the flowery fabrics you used, I had them both, the larger print you used inside I think I got in the early '90s! Thank you so much for your tutorials ♥️♥️♥️
Hi, Isn't it great that fabric never gets old! I really love the soft florals that have a vintage look. I think I got of these at a yard sale. Happy creating! Julia
Hi Julia - Hope you are doing well. Love how you created this sweet little journal. So adorable. You create the most amazing things. Hope everything is ok with your daughter. Love & Hugs! 💕🤗
Hi Pam, I'm hunkering down, how about you? What a strange season we are in. My daughter is doing OK. She is able to work remotely so is staying put. Stay safe! Julia
stitchesbyjulia I’m hunkering down too. Only going out and about when I have too. It is a strange season. One none of us are used to at all. Just trying to stay safe. Hang in there and stay safe. Hoping for warm sunny weather very soon. Love & Hugs 🤗💕 Glad your daughter is doing well.
Hi Julia. Thanks for making this journal. I've been waiting to see how you did yours. Mine won't look like yours, but the construction will be the same. I'd like to give a class on making these when my classes start at our clubhouse. Now that we are all busy sheltering in place, I don't think April classes will happen. Stay well....hunker down...and hopefully when it's time to open your summer shop, things will be better.
Hi Phyllis, Hope all is going well and you are staying safe! This would be a great project to teach at your clubhouse. It goes together quick. I'm hopeful that things will so get back to somewhat normal soon.
Love this journal tutorial! I’m definitely going to make one like this. I’ve never made a journal this way .. I love it ! You make it look super easy! Also I’m loving my bunny pillow! So adorable! 🐰🌸
Hi Julia, Another amazing project. Another tip for removing wash away stabilizer from small areas is to take a clean pencil eraser and rub it in the small area to pull out the small pieces. This would work great when you have ink that is not permanent. The other is fantastic, just thought this would help when using the non permanent ink. TFS!
Love these sweet bunny journals Julia. I was wondering if you had a tutorial on how to scan the linens? Thanks so much for keeping us motivated during this social distancing season.🥰
Hi, I do not a video on scanning the linens. Truthfully scanning is such a trial and error for me that I don't think you'd want to watch it LOL. Stay creative! Julia
I love all of your videos! So inspiring and very well made. Your projects are just what I was looking for. I do have a question, I am always in search of good tools, what are your favorite scissors for fussy cutting fabric?
I really like the Karen Buckley scissors. I have the 6". They have a serrated blades that help with excess fraying. Great for collage quilting. Thanks so much for watching, Julia
Yes, this is done a regular sewing machines. You will need a free-motion foot, ( if your machine didn't come with one, ask a sewing machine dealer for one that fits your machine) Also, drop your feed dogs. This is either done with a lever to drop the dogs or a plate to cover your dogs. ( Refer to your manual for this) I also set my stitch length to zero. You do all the driving, so keep your fabric moving. It takes practice but is so much fun. I hope you give it a try, thanks for watching, Julia
Hi, I am so glad you are enjoying my videos! RUclips really helped me during this time as well. I so sorry but I do not have a source for this fabric. I have had it in my stash for a while and the selvedge edge with the info is missing. Julia
Gday Julia, from australia. love your projects, can you please tell me what the paint that you use, ive seen you use like a roll one Gelli something, looking to buy some. Stay safe and thank you
Its called gesso, an acrylic product made by many different companies. Also available in black. It is often used as a primer for canvas prior to painting on it. and can be used in the painting as well.
Hi, I try to use my local quilt shop when possible. I also use Fabric.com for those things I can't find or need in bulk. Thanks so much for watching, Julia
The inside cover is fabric. The stabilizer that is used between the outside cover and inside cover is a heavy double-sided fusible called Peltex 72F. The inside cover is ironed onto the Peltex and sewn onto the outer canvas cover.
Just love these, Julia. They’re just so sweet and the signature binding is so simple, yet so practical for removing and working on the pages. 😊
Thanks! I love how simple this binding is, yet so effective.
Я очарована Вашей работой. Очень интересно наблюдать как Вы создаёте красоту. Суважением Татьяна.

I’m confused, this video did use a sewing machine. Was the title meant to be no-sew binding?
I believe the title is "Fabric Covered Journal, Easy No-Sew Binding, A Sewing Tutorial"
Algo en español? 😔😭
Looks sewn in to me why does it say no sew?
It's a no-sew binding.
is that a piece of cardstock on the inside cover and did you clue it on?
The inside cover is fabric. The stabilizer that is used between the outside cover and inside cover is a heavy double-sided fusible called Peltex 72F. The inside cover is ironed onto the Peltex and sewn onto the outer canvas cover.
