Ive been trucking since 1984 and never saw the problems truckers have today back years ago when i started. New generation of truckers.automatics and steering wheel holders.
It is not the fault of new truckers that the trucks are automatics. The truck companies are ordering automatic trucks. That gives new truckers no option of a manual. Your statement insinuates new truckers can't drive manuals. The trucks at the trucking schools are manuals. I drive automatic because that is what the company has. If I could afford my own truck, I would get me a 2016 to 2018 13-speed with a Detroit diesel. Brand really doesn't matter. I would want a strong truck with a good motor and the 13-speed tranny, not governed! The real problem today is inadequate training. Truck companies are cutting corners to get new drivers out on the road faster. I drove for a company that recently lost its training program certification because of this "corner cutting". In my 11 years of having a CDL and I have never had my CDL revoked, suspended, or restricted. Never hit a bridge and I have never needed a winch out. Common sense goes a long way. But there needs to be better training.
