CODE 3 CALL!!! FIRE ON THE INTERSTATE!!!

  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, Oscar and I are called to run Code 3 to a fire on the interstate. We were told there was a dually pickup truck and a loaded gooseneck trailer that were "fully involved" and they had to interstate shut down for fire operations. We were requested to run Code so the interstate could be reopened to full traffic as soon as possible. I know this seems odd to a lot of people. We do not get to choose when we run Code. We are only allowed to do so when requested to "expedite" and we are not always given a reason. Basically, if we are told to run Code, we don't ask questions, we run Code. Anyway, this job seems fairly straight forward, until, like always, there is a complication or a problem that we must solve. The gooseneck trailer is loaded and needs to be disconnected from the burnt dually, but the tailgate on the truck is locked and won't open. So, the simple task of cranking down the jack legs on the trailer and pulling the burnt truck out from under it won't work. How do we make this work? Also, you will catch a snippet of this video that I took for a recent fundraiser we had for a local firefighter. Thank you, God, for blessing our family and our business. Watch as we continue to receive God's blessings. There is much more to come!!! I hope you enjoy this video!!!
    We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

      Being able to press a button to open it remotely, sure, I can see the appeal. Having no other option than that button though?!? For doors (including tailgates and hoods) there should always be a manual option. Unfortunately manufacturers do not agree with me on that...

    • @FurryWrecker911
      @FurryWrecker911 2 месяца назад +7

      @@paulnieuwkamp8067 Yeah, that was something that kinda upset me with my Focus with there being no manual override, and that was designed way back in 2010. All in the name of security though. Harder to replicate a chip than it is to rake-attack a keyhole.

    • @MommyKhaos
      @MommyKhaos 2 месяца назад +5

      @@paulnieuwkamp8067They typically do, but the fire may have damaged components making that no longer possible. There's a reason why fire departments tend to just pry open or cut off doors, because an accident may have (or rather most likely did) damaged components preventing the door to open

      @SilverIchimaru 2 месяца назад +6

      @paulnieuwkamp8067 yeah, I don't get that on newer stuff. It just garuntees trouble. My SUV remote locks but I can also use a key. I'm happy with an older vehicle if that means two ways to do some important things.

    One thing I noticed in this video is that is very important to me as a former Towing & Recovery Operator along with being a member of the volunteer fire service and my favorite. A 10 year member to my local emergency service department as an EMT. I noticed some of the first responders had their backs facing traffic. I was hoping someone would notice that and mention that to them it’s always important to have your eyes on the traffic coming at you especially while working on a busy road way such as the one in this video. Great recovery and so great seeing Terry back at it!!

Then there is how professional he is, his skill with his equipment and he teaches things. So, weather he is fishing for fish with a rod and reel or fishing for cars with the Rotator, this channel is always wholesome, Christian and just all around awesome. That, like me, could be why you are here every Friday and every other day he releases a video.

    Hey Ron,
    First off I just want to say as a fellow tow truck operator, I think you did and always do one heck of a job. One thing I found interesting was your three honk warning before you pulled into the left lane to position your truck. Usually I just do a two honk warning but I guess it comes down to personal preference. I noticed though that you gave a two honk warning before going forward to move out of the way so that the truck could be put on the rollback. My question is, do you have different amounts of honks you give for different situations or just go with the flow?

    I spent my younger years growing up in buffalo MO with my grandparents tending to cows . I always liked how everybody out there always was very friendly and waved to you when you were passing them even if they didn’t know you .
    You guys have a great working relationship with the FD and PD . Good stuff sir ❤🐺🐕🐺❤

    Nice video and what did you mean by your comment at 14.23... Good have been better..... The sheriff had to close all lanes for less than two minutes... I call that a very, very efficient operation! In all this was a very quick, good and effective salvage operation. Compliments, thumbs up.

    1:24 ***CHECK THIS OUT EVERYONE....*** I'm a firefighter so Im use to rolling quick in hvy vehs but I would love to run hot in a hvy duty tow trk. So look at Mr. Ron multi tasking running hot, 1st look at the RPM & Speedo gauges....but let me clarify, it's not just going fast, you must be vigilant of everything, esp in hvy vehs that don't stop or maneuver like ur avg veh but he gets an addl applause from me bc he's running a Manuel trans(I believe 18 speed trans).
    GREAT JOB MR RON, I SALUTE U MY FRIEND.

    Lights and sirens on a tow truck running full code for a busted pickup on the shoulder and blocking an interstate? We’d get arrested for doing that in NJ 😂
    I love Ron for what he does and for his kindness!!

      In a former video Ron stated , that there are only few states who qualify tow trucks as emergency vehicles and he is only allowed to run code when instructed.

      I would guess that was a "Hot Shot" load and now that driver owns a good trailer without a power unit for it. Hopefully he can rent another power unit while things get sorted out.
