  • We were requested to expedite, or run Code to the scene. Mike and I using our rollbacks to clear a two car collision on the interstate. One car in the cables and one pickup in the median with the rear end knocked out from under it. Working with Police, Fire, and EMS to quickly clear the incident.
    Thanks for watching and God bless.

      That always makes my blood boil and Ron does so well at maintaining his composure when these morons refuse to move. I accept that there are occasions where they have nowhere to go because *other* drivers aren't paying attention and leaving them space to get out the way. I often wonder, if you stole everybody's rear-view mirrors, how many would even notice?
      Any muppet can pass a driving test; there should be second test for "roadcraft", maybe three months later, when you can remove "still learning" plates if you pass, resit your first test if you don't.
      There are way too many people on the road, who have *no* driving skills, yet they still passed the test.

Infuriatingly easy, no matter how complicated it really is, it always comes across as "OK. we'll just do Plan 3c Since Plan 3a, which we usually use, would cause a problem we are not prepared to counter and Plan 3b requires something we don't have on site." I have yet to find him in a situation he says "I'm stumped on this one." I have seen other companies get stumped or the wreck beats them, at least initially.

    You don't have to thank me for watching. I enjoy watching what you do. It is sad to see wrecked vehicles and even sadder when people are injured or killed. I do believe in guardian angels. In June 1978, I left the road on a motorcycle on a curve at around 90 mph while very drunk. The instant I knew I was going off the road, a strange feeling wrapped around me and I heard 'Do Not Fear'. Although I suffered many injuries, I survived. I still have problems left over from my injuries. As they say, you have to pay the price and I have nobody to blame except myself.

    There have been multiple comments about the use of my air horn rather than using a siren while running to this scene and that I should have allowed Mike to run in front of me since his truck has a siren. Please allow me to explain......
    We simply have not taken the time to install a siren on the new Peterbilt rollback yet. As I stated in the video, we are not required to have a siren as long as we have the air horn and red/blue lights. We are following the letter of the law. The following is taken directly from the state statute:
    "5. (1) The driver of any vehicle referred to in subsection 4 of this section shall not sound the siren thereon or have the front red lights or blue lights on except when such vehicle is responding to an emergency call or when in pursuit of an actual or suspected law violator, or when responding to, but not upon returning from, a fire.
      (2) The driver of an emergency vehicle may:
      (a) Park or stand irrespective of the provisions of sections 304.014 to 304.025;
      (b) Proceed past a red or stop signal or stop sign, but only after slowing down as may be necessary for safe operation;
      (c) Exceed the prima facie speed limit so long as the driver does not endanger life or property;
      (d) Disregard regulations governing direction of movement or turning in specified directions.
      (3) The exemptions granted to an emergency vehicle pursuant to subdivision (2) of this subsection shall apply only when the driver of any such vehicle while in motion sounds audible signal by bell, siren, or exhaust whistle as may be reasonably necessary, and when the vehicle is equipped with at least one lighted lamp displaying a red light or blue light visible under normal atmospheric conditions from a distance of five hundred feet to the front of such vehicle."
    Please note the last section which states that we can use an "exhaust whistle". The air horn is defined under the "exhaust whistle" category, much like the warning systems used by trains since, well, the invention of train warning systems, which is an "exhaust whistle" train air horn. So, again, we are following the law. We will be installing a siren, but as I said, the air horn still covers us. The main reason I went first is because Mike was on another job when the call came in. I left directly from our shop, which was closer to the incident. It just so happened that Mike was able to catch up with me in the traffic back up.
    This comment is made simply to educate. This comment is not made in a defensive or derogatory manner. Thanks for watching and God bless.

      @MrYfrank14 4 года назад +15

      I can't believe the patience you have with these people making comments.
      I would just say " because the law says I can use an air horn instead of a siren" in the description, then yell at the computer that they need to read the description every time someone questioned the air horn.
      you are a far better man than I.

    • @MrYfrank14
      @MrYfrank14 4 года назад +7

      I think an exhaust whistle would be great.
      gets louder as you accelerate.
      exhaust whistle with a jake brake on should clear the road.

    As was to see in the beginning of the video, no room for the first responders, its a hot topic in germany. We call it Rettungsgasse, rescue alley or so. The penalty for not making room has recently been upped, minimum 200€ fine, one month no driving license and two points in Flensburg. Flensburg is a city in the north of germany, there is the central registry for your traffic sins. Some traffic offenses give you point(s), up to three at once. The points last depending on the offense 2.5 to 10 years. 4-5 points get you a fine, and a letter telling you off, with the chance to participate in a "how to drive responsibly" seminar, which can get you rid of one point. 6-7 gives you a bigger fine, also a letter with a warning that your driving license is in danger and again the chance for a seminar. 8+ points revokes your driving license. Its gone for at least 6 months, usually longer. Its then a matter for the court to determine how you can get it back. You might be asked to successfully participate in a psychological evaluation. You might need to aquire the driving license again, which is rather expensive in germany. If you do not cooperate, its gone for 15 years. Without your initiative you wont get it back, its not automatic.

    Warm greetings from the Netherlands.
    Your vlogs are always very interesting to see, love the air horn and the V8 engine.
    You rarely come across them here, but we are only a small country.
    But you do your rescue work in a coordinated way.
    Your vlog is great, just like all your family and employees, God bless your good work. Hans

    I had no idea that this is actually for real. I always thought, since I was a kid, if tow vehicles need to have first responders emergency devices...such as a siren. But, not all places allow this type of action....and should, specially when dangerously blocking a highway....God bless you guys risking your lives everytime out there!

    Nice and quick recovery, I was surprised.
    On surprises, I ordered a pair of lighted gloves for you, should be delivered next week.
    They are a "one size fits all" design, 2 waterproof leds on thumb and forefinger to light actual work area during night jobs. More likely to be useful on the service trucks but still might be of use on a recovery.

    Great video, I can't be the only one sitting here yelling at the people who won't move over. I understand, as you said, some are trying, but there are a lot more who weren't. I'm amazed at how 'busy' people are, and how they can't spare a second. Even when you were reversing in, people jumping into your lane. I guess it's eventually more business for you :).

    I monitor the MSP crash reports regularly. I noticed that many rollover fatal crashes involve unrestrained motorist. I realize that many occur in rural areas and some don't realize the importance of seat belts. Many will have one restrained with minor injuries and the unrestrained ejected. Its totally an unfortunate way to lose a life. This bothers me. Keep up the great work Ron and God bless.

    That pickup reminded me of an incident I was involved in way back in 1962.Army 2.5 ton truck rear axle housing broke off, right at the brake backing plate.We had no recovery vehicle available,would have taken about 4 hours to get one on site,we were on a narrow city street traffic backing up.Truck was a tandem so we jacked up the damaged axle housing as high as possible.chained the housing up to the frame,limped to our motor pool.Local cops ( Korean) were telling us to Bali Bali,Korean for hurry hurry.

I know when I dispatched we had people broke down in Death Valley and for some reason having water didn’t just didn’t get remembered by people. Even a brand new car can give trouble.
