More was requested but congress shut down the bill last session. Do I think it’s not enough? Yes! But I believe the way it is portrayed is that FEMA is not trying to help or just sitting around with their thumb “you know where” but that is not the case. They are doing the best they can in which the congress has allowed them.

Thank you for some tips on what is needed. I have a sleeping bag I don't use. I also have over 100 double thick beanie hats I knitted for charity that I could donate as well. I'm only got halfway through the video when he mentioned generators. I'm east of Hickory and was only down for 3 days without power. But I have solar generators that kept my fridge going, and I lent 2 to my neighbor to keep theirs running as well. My daughter up the road got her power on before I did, so they brought their gas generator over so I could recharge my solar ones faster. I have a 6,000w gas generator on a dolly that I never used. I was going to sell it, but I thought of donating it if this guy is going back there. I have a handful of small electric heaters, but those probably wouldn't be of use.
Just saying one of nature's best filters is a fresh cut pine branch. Also electricity can be made with flat screen TV, aluminum foil, copper wire, both videos are on YT.

I lived in Johnson County TN. I worked in Boone NC. I used to hike in Elk Park. My point is, I know this area you are in...i know the backroads and how bad they are....before Helene. You are doing amazing work, thank you for the great video work and showing us how these small hollars have weathered the storm. Mountain people are a strong bunch. A country boy may survive, but a mountain man will thrive! These mountains just got a whole lot better for the true anti societal human. The woods are still safer than any city...just ask people in Asheville. BUT, you need to be old school minded to truly experience the freedom. I will take my humble broken shack over a condo ANY DAY. The number of good people outnumber them, but they are still there. Multiple agencies have been warning about them, in several states, since the 29th. I’m not saying FEMA is perfect. They have had botched responses over the years. They do after action reports after every disaster in an effort to improve. They do not give a hoot about your political affiliation. I’ve been a 911 dispatcher/worked for Emergency Management in my Western NC county for 21 years. I was born and raised here as were several generations of my family. I love this place with all my heart and seeing the devastation is unbearable. I’ve always been firmly on the left. That has never mattered once on my job. I don’t ask for your political affiliation when you’re in need and neither does FEMA. Speaking of, they cannot teleport. They cannot be everywhere at once. They have been helping countless people and are making their way to those that have not evacuated. Of course people in devastated areas with no way out and no way to communicate, that have refused to leave their homes (I get it, I’m not knocking it), have not seen FEMA yet. This is a no brainer. They will be making their way around to countless areas like this and it will take more than a week. Of course the people in these areas are already feeling alone and deserted. It’s perfectly natural. They have experienced trauma, loss and are going through stages of grief. Acting like no one is coming and if they do, they will be against you, is endangering them and opening them up to scams and cons.

This is the main thing i love about our country. When a disaster happens THE EVERYDAY AVERAGE PERSON ( NOT THE GOVERNMENT) step up to help one another and will literally take the shirts off their backs to give to the next person. Im tearing up cause im so thankful for people like yourself. We get tornados here in TN every yr and the second it hits you have people up immediately flooding the areas with chainsaws and help rescue others and are so selfless. When We got hit by a flood here in Nashville in 2010 people stepped up and when the December 2023 tornado hit my town here in Madison TN we were up immediately to help others. I listened to sirens wailing all night through the night non stop until daylight. The mountains are a beast so tha k you for all those helping out and risking their lives.

This is available to everyone in the area to help with immediate needs like food, meds, etc.
This is just one of the many types of monetary aid offered by FEMA.
It's far from the only thing that the federal government is providing to victims.
Please don't spread disinformation, because it harms the very people that are in desperate need by discouraging them from applying for aid that is readily available to them.

There are known scammers and con artists in the area.
They descend upon places in the wake of disasters. It’s a sick and sad fact.
The number of good people outnumber them, but they are still there. Multiple agencies have been warning about them, in several states, since the 29th.
I’m not saying FEMA is perfect. They have had botched responses over the years.
They do after action reports after every disaster in an effort to improve.
They do not give a hoot about your political affiliation.
I’ve been a 911 dispatcher/worked for Emergency Management in my Western NC county for 21 years.
I was born and raised here as were several generations of my family. I love this place with all my heart and seeing the devastation is unbearable.
I’ve always been firmly on the left. That has never mattered once on my job.
I don’t ask for your political affiliation when you’re in need and neither does FEMA.
Speaking of, they cannot teleport.
They cannot be everywhere at once.
They have been helping countless people and are making their way to those that have not evacuated.
Of course people in devastated areas with no way out and no way to communicate, that have refused to leave their homes (I get it, I’m not knocking it), have not seen FEMA yet.
This is a no brainer.
They will be making their way around to countless areas like this and it will take more than a week.
Of course the people in these areas are already feeling alone and deserted.
It’s perfectly natural.
They have experienced trauma, loss and are going through stages of grief.
Acting like no one is coming and if they do, they will be against you, is endangering them and opening them up to scams and cons.
They all need to tell FeMa to kiss their butt's!!! They need all the help they can get! Can't run all of us off the mountain!

This is the main thing i love about our country. When a disaster happens THE EVERYDAY AVERAGE PERSON ( NOT THE GOVERNMENT) step up to help one another and will literally take the shirts off their backs to give to the next person. Im tearing up cause im so thankful for people like yourself.
We get tornados here in TN every yr and the second it hits you have people up immediately flooding the areas with chainsaws and help rescue others and are so selfless. When We got hit by a flood here in Nashville in 2010 people stepped up and when the December 2023 tornado hit my town here in Madison TN we were up immediately to help others. I listened to sirens wailing all night through the night non stop until daylight. The mountains are a beast so tha k you for all those helping out and risking their lives.
It’s truly wonderful to see volunteers like you giving your time and resources to help those in need. God will sort out those unwilling to help the souls stranded and destitute.
