    A word of advice to drivers going to big cities like this. Plan your route ahead of time and then CALL the shipper or receiver before entering the city to ask for the best route to get in. Even if you plan your route perfectly ahead of time, there may be a street closure that will get you into a pickle just like this. Thanks to the people there for helping! Not everyone will do that.

    This is tough no matter how you look at it. One of the things that makes it so tough is the fact that he has it spread axle trailer. The other thing is those front guards are a great asset, but they do become problematic in situations like this. It is for this reason I installed a dump valve on my spread axle to make it a little easier in situations like this. When you have no dump valve, the key is to get the trailer wheels as far to the right as possible, even if it means purposely pulling forward and backing up to get the trailer wheels over as far as possible, Then get the rear axle as close to, or as much into the intersection as possible, then make a series of forward and reverse moves, turning slightly each time, while maximizing your forward and rearward space. Seeing everyone come together to help out, though, that’s New York’s finest right there. This guy will have a story to tell for years to come.

      U saying that and I bet u will go to L A in a heartbeat and catch a bullet why the hard part of New York is it's so damn tight to get around in a big truck.

  • @rasjahson6261
    @rasjahson6261 4 месяца назад +6

    It would have been a lot easier with a lift axel system and the both axel. You lift up the rear axle for those tight turns. Then you lower the rear axle and lift up the forward axle to avoid the swing of the trailer. It works every time. Also check your routing with a paper map when you’re going into a big narrow city and call your shipper/receiver for specific truck routing. It will save you a lot of time and stress. New York is not as bad as people say. You have to be calm and do those things I said. Stay calm and don’t make a turn anywhere if you are not sure. Don’t worry about traffic behind you. They can honk their horns and yell at you all they want but if you don’t move they can’t move do don’t worry about them. Only thing you can control is you and don’t make any mistakes because it will cost you not the yelling four wheelers behind you.

    Truck Drivers bringing communities together. Or is it the residents are afraid of getting damage to their vehicles?🤔
    Whatever it is, see how well neighbors can work together as a team! Even a bless you was mentioned.🙂👌

    Man I had a similar situation happen to me back in 2022 in Chicago! During the winter too. GPS took me down a residential. Saw cars parked on both sides of the road and houses glued to each other back to back and instantly knew I F’d up. Through sheer will and God himself, I took my time and got myself out the situation. Haven’t been a steering wheel holder since. Now we correctly pre plan routes and use Trucker Path💯

      @@Davekelly35 “real truckers” for the most part are a damn embarrassment. You can have your supertrucker trophy, tell all your asswipe cohorts stories at the TA trucker’s table, and jack off in your sleeper over chrome while I’m on top of my old lady after my cozy M-F 9 hour linehaul run.

    It's that type of trailer that makes maneuvering difficult. I think that if he had swung as wide as possible and did a few back and forth maneuvers, he would have made it.

    Best case is just to keep straight. A lot of times cars are parked too close to the curb. And that’s the biggest issue. The fact that no one moves the cars is wild.

    During my 2 years I've had to get out of a few "sticky" situations...... either way ya learn your truck and it's turning radius and everything you just get a good feel for it. After you really know the truck as well as your own d*ck then you "just know" if you can make a turn before ever attempting it. You just know ahead of time no matter the turn or situation you just know "to keep going" or to "turn back/reverse" ahead of time to avoid nightmares like this one. Also once you know the truck/trailer setup well enough it simply takes just getting out and looking while running sims in your brain till you find that perfect plan then execute it flawlessly. If you're not one with your truck than ya easily end up like this guy in the video no telling how many times/situations. You must become "one" with the truck, trailer, traffic, and everything around you.

    I go to New york all the time so far once in the city, staying off the St. And staying on the ave. Has worked for me. I ignore the gps if it wants me to turn on a tight street until i reach an avenue i can turn the way i want to go. I've been to the financial district and marthas vineyard with my 48-foot flatbed, never hit anything. Yes, i have gotten into turns where I've had to wiggle back and forward but always make it without issues.
