Some great mods done to the van. We've looked at the Alde towel rail as the bathroom is never as warm as the rest of the van. Liked the table. We'll have a look at the link.😊👍
Yeah the towel rail has made it much better in the bathroom and easier to get things dry too in the winter. We love our little table lol and we use it all the time. One of our best purchases.
This is a very nice and useful vlog for those who want to go for a motorhome! All the works are very impressive, I won't rank those even but I am sure gas and solar electric power are vital. With the experiences, you have already and Karl's engineering skills I can see a very good business prospect + help others in the future. Enjoyed this and hope your journey continues peacefully!
Modifications are looking good. These have given us food for thought with our RV rebuild. The wiring is going in soon, and we are currently thinking where we need USB ports. We also need to think how we will measure the content of the underslung LPG tank as it does not a gauge system at present. How we heat the RV is something we need to do more research on to see how others do it, we do like the towel rail idea. Great vlog 😀👍
Our motorhome has Alde wet heating so it's like proper central heating. Diesel heaters seem great. Stephen from CVTV has one and his van was toasty when we met up with him. Obviously smaller than your van but they seem to heat up well. Probably cheap to buy and easier to install too.
@@roaminginraymond Before lockdown we owned a static caravan in Mablethorpe (since sold it) and that has wet central heating, it was lovely and toasty, just like a house. The RV will have an LPG boiler, but originally we thought of that for hot water only. We had thought of going down the diesel heating route, we will have to look at what options are available for us.
Yeah we can see it not being one of the easier things to do. Get Youtubing and see what your options are. The proper heating is great and we wouldn't be without it as we had a caravan before this with it, which is why we wouldn't go back to blown heating now. But if we were doing a build who knows what we'd do.
Loved the mods you’ve done. Some were unusual and rather courageous too! All done very neatly as well. Love the towel rail, extra LPG tank, air suspension and lighting. We’ve done a few mods to Merlin, but not on your scale. Some excellent ideas there 👍🧙♂️😊
Hi guys. Some cracking mods made here with the reasons behind them. We are particularly keen on the second underslung tank which is such a clever addition. Reading the comments, and from what we are finding as a fellow Elddis owner, having Karl around with his skills is an abs must. Take care you three.
There's probably a system you can have without drilling the roof, but it's been brill and well worth it. Not had a problem with reception so far though, even on the phones. Better in Scotland than on the drive at Karl's lol.
Gotta have our airfryed chips on a sunny day lol and Karl charges the drone batteries. That's it really. Micro on occasion like tonight for packet rice to go with a chilli, but the micro mainly gets used as a storage cupboard lol.
love this vlog, with the extra 2 30kg lpg tanks and solar panels did you need to upgrade the MTPLM from 3500kgs or was Raymon all ready replated and solar panels only asking as we find the difference between MIRO and MTPLM is soon eaten up with beding, food, clothing, water and all the other stuff we seem to carry
We had the 4 solars before replating and also one of the LPG tanks. The tanks are 30 litres, not kg, but obviously they add extra weight. When we had the air suspension fitted, you can apply through a company to get replated who do it through the DVLA. Raymond is now 4100kg. This means we pay less tax now too. It's about 90 quid cheaper I think. Check the paperwork for your payload, as we didn't realise that the weight of Raymond before adding anything already included a full tank of fuel, a full 100 litre water tank, the driver and the passenger I think.(up to 75kg each from what I recall.) We didn't realise these things were already included. But with the air suspension fitted it was silly not to get uprated just to be on the safe side. But I'm sure if your vehicle has been down rated by the manufacturer, which some have because of the 3500kg rule on newer licences, you can have it uprated without the air suspension anyway. Hope this helps. Anything else, just ask.😊

How do you get on using the Victron mptt controller and the dual pwm charger ? do you have to use separate.. as in some solar panels in parallel on the mppt charger and leisure battery and one to another solar to a leisure battery and your starter battery ? Just a little confusing that part lol how you got these to work as mppt is definitely better then pwm but didn’t think they worked together Thanks Information on this would be great as I use a Victron mppt with a Victron b2b charger which is awesome while you drive lol but would love to use the dual solar charger to the leisure and starter I have x2 150 watt solar in parallel with x2 110 ah leisure and a 110 starter Mppt 100/30 and 12/12/30 Victron b2b I’m finding it hard 😂 how I could fit this dual charger to my set up sorry long post lol
Each controller has its own two panels as we have 4x100w panels. The MPPT charges just the leisure batteries, and the other controller is 80% leisure and 20% to the cab battery. Both controllers are 20 amp. Because of the set up you have already, Karl said you are better off running a separate solar panel to a 10amp charger just to charge the cab battery. Or you'd have to replace the charger you have with a dual battery charger.(you can buy dual MPPT chargers)
Thanks for the reply even tho RUclips needs a update 😂 the right hand side of your reply I can’t see 🥲 it’s cut out lol Back to the comment I don’t understand what you mean .. probably would if could read it all lol So the only way around my situation would be to add a solar running to the duel charger and the starter battery is that what you mean
