The new part for the motorhome has finally arrived. With the side skirt not being in stock, Karl shows you how he is going to repair the damage, and discovers that Elddis have left us with more issues due to poor workmanship.
He also finds the source of the water leaks from both the grey waste and the fresh water tanks.

Love the repair and mod videos , I am learning so much 👌
Thanks. Glad you find them useful.👍
Hi all. Hows the old Talbot Doing. My Talbot is still not fully fixed yet. Look for Helen and jeff on the road. You can see my van there. Cheers from Jeff and Helen.
Thanks. We shall have a look.
Enjoyed the video 👍 I have an elddis 196 just got into the motorhome adventures
Thanks very much. Hopefully you'll enjoy travelling in yours as much as we do.😊
Great vid, thanks.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.😊
Can you send Karl round our house lol? He's good!😁
Lol, heard that a few times on the Elddis group on FB.😆
Omg, That’s amazing what you have done Karl. Elddis and some other manufacturers could do with you to show how to build quality motorhomes. 🏴
Lol, you're not wrong there, that's for sure!
Fantastic job Karl! Looks even better than the original. A man of many talents. 👍🧙♂️😊
Thank you so much. Appreciate the comment as always.😊
@@roaminginraymond well deserved! ❤️😊
@@Wizardinthewild 😁
Ah I missed this! Was off grid for a while...Great to see your motorhome in shape again. Well done to Karl, he is really good at what he does👍👍
Thanks very much.😊
Could not believe how much sealer they use. We have a German MH and the panels fit perfectly with just a rubber seal between the bodywork and trim panels. Would love to be the guy that sells them all the sealer. Spotted a new one in a carpark couple of months back. Looked like a five year old had put the sealer on. Terrible workmanship if you can call it that.
Completely agree, they're just thrown together. We've got about half an inch of sealant on the roof to fill where the water ingress was coming through. Had it fixed under warranty and it leaked a week later so Karl had to sort it and that's how much sealant we had to put on to stop the rain getting through. We've given up with them. No pride in their work.
Cracking job Karl - great you being so practical with all those skills - Pity other owners who have similar build issues who aren’t though
Yeah we're lucky Karl is so good and we agree, some people have to just rely on the dealer to get things fixed. People on the Elddis motorhome FB group used to ask if they could borrow him lol.
@@roaminginraymond nice little earner
Lol, he's retired and he wants to stay that way.😆
A man with pride in what he dose ,a great job all round well done 👍
Thank you so much.👍
Glad you know what your doing Karl. Nice work buddy on fixing all those faults
Thanks. Yeah he did a good job. Always does to be fair. How's Lewis doing?
@@roaminginraymond yes he does! Lewis is a bit better thanks. He's coughing a bit but he is eating fine lol seems outbreak started at school in his class. So far none of us in the house have had it yet but im staying at home until next week.
@@RaymondoLeeTravel fingers crossed the rest of you don't get it. Glad he's getting better.
Nice neat job Karl Looks like new again Hugs to H n N see ya soon 🏴🏴 Stephen & Skye 😘👍🐶👊👊
Hello Stephen and Skye! Yeah he did a great job. Yep, we will hopefully see you soon.🏴😁
Really good job well done here Karl. Very informative. All the best Mal, Dave and Sally the Lab
aka The SilvertopMotorhomers
Thanks very much.😊
Had all of the same issues with my Bailey Adamo 754-DL very disappointing!
That's sad to hear. We had a Bailey caravan prior to the motorhome and we loved it. Shows all manufacturers have issues. It's a sad state of affairs for how much these things cost.
Awesome job done there Karl. Looks superb. 😀👍
Thanks Andy. He did a good job and he's never done it before so pleased. He was gonna order the part but it doesn't need it, it's a good enough fix.
What a great job. Looks great now. Well done.
Thanks very much.😁
Great sharing 👍
Thanks.
Well done , you’ve done a good job there, looks a lot better and done probably
Thanks a lot Stuart, appreciate the comment. Yeah, much better than it was.
Outstanding Karl bloody brilliant
Thanks very much. He did a grand job!😊
Good job Karl knows what he's doing. A good job done!!!! X
I know, we'd have had a bashed in side for months otherwise with Elddis supplying the parts lol. They don't rush themselves.🙄
Wow, a man of many talents 👍
Lol, thanks very much. Can't make a decent cuppa though!😂
Nice repair! Very tidy work. 👍 Graeme
Thanks a lot. Yep, he did a good job.😊
Nice job. All the best. Cheers.👍😎
Thanks Rob.👍
Excellent job my friend
Thanks very much, much appreciated.
"Hats off " to you Karl you definitely know your stuff, that is a job well done 👍 HEY I've just had a thought Karl , why don't you get a job at Elddis and show them how it's supposed to be done !!
Lol Paul, you'd be right. They have no pride in their work.
Great work with the panel repair Karl, I have plenty of aged plastic panels to repair with fibreglass and plastic filler on our RV build, which isn't my favourite task, very time consuming, but it has to be done 😀
It is time consuming, you're right. He's never really done body work but it's way better than it was and way cheaper than a new part too.
@@roaminginraymond Completely agree, Samantha and I both said we would not change that side skirt panel, Karl's repair is perfectly fine.
He just said he won't change it now lol. Sometimes I think you need to hear it from other people to realise.😊
@@roaminginraymond Lol ... top lad :-)
@@VintageRVAdventures 👍
Hi Karl when putting the side panel on to close the gap did this then leave a gap at the other end .....or did you get a new panel ? . you did a great job 👏 👍
No, there was no gap as it tucks under the wheel arch trim by a good few inches. Anything else, just ask.😀
@@roaminginraymond thanks Karl 😊
No problem.
Well done Karl 👍
Thanks Andy. He did a good job.
Hi guys
Cracking job there Karl If I knew you were that good You could have had my ambulance to work on when I say work on and mean everything inside everything outside and a new paint job Lol brilliant videos
He is good I will say that. He'd never done body repair work before either. Hope you're doing OK.😊
@@roaminginraymond doing good getting things done for my 2 week drive about
@@amboexplorers4981 that's good. Hope you get on OK doing the Welsh coast. If you get on OK, we'll have to do it!
Well mr B what a lovely job you have done.I’m surprised What Rotten job done by factory they make thousands of caravans should be a reputable company.
Reputably shite in our opinion.😁
Good work Karl, unfortunately good workmanship and good customer service are becoming a thing of the past! Keep up the good work!!
You're right there unfortunately.
Super job just saved yourself £500. New handbag or shoes?!!
Don't do handbags or shoes lol. Waste of money in my opinion but don't tell any women that I said that!😁
Fab job there Karl, looks the dogs. Just caught up with your last 3 vids now. That stop by the canal looked brill. How did you find that?
We'd passed there a few times but never been, but had it on our list of places to visit. Then saw it on the Campra Facebook group as an aire. Don't know if you've heard of Campra but they are campaigning to get aires in the UK. Got your latest to watch in a bit. Just doing some editing. You still in Scotland?
@@roaminginraymond Yes I have heard of campra, not looked at them though. Gave up Facebook and twitter and Instagram. Good find anyway. I have just got back home unfortunately....family stuff, and I have another 6 or 7 vids to get up. Would have liked to meet up but enjoy your trip. Looking forward to your vids
Thanks very much. That's a shame you're back but maybe another time. Hope you enjoyed your trip anyway and will watch your latest vid later.😊
Hi Karl, Just had a wee bump in a McDonald's car park in Blackpool and I Wass wondering if you could tell me in detail including material used to complete this repair and the costs involved.
I don't have the funds to get 2 new panels for my Burstner at the moment as the side marker light is dear enough. What I do have is plenty of time as I have just retired early, that is why I want to try and challenge myself to be able to repair this myself and have the skills for any further mishaps.
Thanks in advance for any info that you can provide.
Get as many photos as you can, close ups and distance shots, and your reg, and email us at roaminginraymond@gmail.com and he will see what he can do.👍
I’ve noticed your side skirt panels the seal which will be silka. Mines fitted with a beading seal of some kind not sealant what is it they use do you know
Not sure. Karl said some use a rubber trim over the sealant to make it look nicer, but it's normally Sikaflex underneath.
Bravo Karl what a talented man💯🙂and my campervan is nearing completion so me n my little dog will be travelling soon.and I've had a recirculating shower installed in mine whereby I can shower for as long as I like off 5 gallon of water so it might be something to look into to save water wastage and keep the weight down too😁but don't ask how as a mates done it lol but there's a few vids on fb/RUclips for inspo
That sounds like a fab idea lol and we were going to ask you how you did it! You've put another idea into his head now! He's going to do some research.🤣😁
Looool bless him I thought it would work for you both I've said to my mate to master the system and do installs on other vehicles I think he'd make a good living from it.but the basis is a 5 stage filter system that filters only shower water then it's on a separate pump that feeds into the same boiler as the other 2 sinks join into.and my van is something else it's an 04 LDV Luton.the king size bed lowers down of a night time from the ceiling space, large L shape sofa, little wood burning stove, oven 2 burner hob, full size bathroom n shower space, then a cut through into the cab which will turn into a sleeping space for my mom to sleep in,I've got a 190w solar panel that charges a 120ah lithium battery from sterling power, and then the whole roof strengthened to be able to chill on like a sun terrace I can't bloody wait 😁best wishes both
That all sounds amazing! Sounds like a cracking van, honestly. You'll have to send us some photos. Karl said video it lol.
Thank you I'll get it all sorted then next time your over bewdley way you can have a good look at it if your ever free.I get to see it tomorrow for the first time in a few weeks, its just the roof and walk through to do n a few touches then all done
@@leonwilks4114 that's fab! We're gonna be on the road for around six weeks but then we'll be back in Kiddy.👍
Another great advert for buying something else. Neat repair.
Lol, never a truer word said!😁
Helen, Karl .. Samantha is dying to know... did you name Nanook after the film Lost Boys?
He certainly was!😁
@@roaminginraymond Samantha is a massive vampire film fan lol
It's a classic eighties horror film but it's got humour too and we like that.
I realise it is a 2yr old vid.. but can I ask.. how did you get on with matching the paintwork..? TIA
He did crash the van again and this is that repair video.
ruclips.net/video/7x3cvUbkeEs/видео.html
It may have the answer, or have a look through the comments as he may have answered the question in there if not in the video. If you can't find the answer, comment back and I'll ask him in the morning. He's asleep now unfortunately or I'd ask. Regards, Helen.😊
Just like patching up drywall/sheetrock...🦾🤖📺🛡️🙋
You got it flush. ✓✓✓
Yeah he did a really good job.
👍
Karl. I want to remove my empty gas cylinder to put a new one in but cannot get the bottle out . Any ideas.
Do you mean just a regular gas bottle? He said if it went in it should come out. Can you send a photo on Facebook?
@@roaminginraymond it beats the hell out of me. I am going to take the van back to where we bought it for them to demonstrate. I have two 6kg cylinders don’t worry. I agree if they went in they must come out.
Karl said see if you can push it back then tilt it forward. Sounds like a right pain. Hope you can get it sorted.
Elddis always been a very shady company . Used to be called Siddle transport years ago . They conned thier way through then . They are still the same to this day . Dont use them or buy anything from them . Everything about them is extremely questionable to say the least . .
Yes, we certainly agree with you there.
You should be hired by Elddis, your workmanship is far better!
The only two things that have gone wrong with our 2011 Fleurette Migrateur are top up of the aircon and now a fuel filter holder change (small leak)
If we'd have known the troubles with Elddis we'd have never bought one. Trouble is you try to warn people but they take no notice. Never again, that's for sure.
You're right Thorsten, he is good at doing things like this being mechanically minded. Good job really when we own an Elddis!😁
