Heyo, depressed ADD animation student in 2022 here! I've struggled all through my degree to learn this stuff and I feel super far behind my peers, but videos like yours that are interesting to watch, while also clear and helpful (as auto-rigging scripts have failed me on certain meshes for no discernible reason) have saved my backside!!! Thank you for this! ♥
Update: in July of 2022 I became a professional animator for a small game dev studio! (Still have ADD though, that one was a bummer) You never know what's in store for you, just around the corner, people!
@@-Songbird I have found that if you can create a constraint for ADD and then parent it to a NORMIE/NOT-NORMIE switch, it can help one get through everyday life.
Somehowe the spine at my model won't move the upperbody. So if I select one or more joints in the spine and try to move/rotate it. It will only move/rotate that one joint I selected. Do I fix this by contraining or parenting? I'm a bit lost here tbh. I could really use your help!
Thank you for all the riging video tutorial series, really clear! When you have done the rig, and want to adapt it to a different character, so you need to move the bones and the controllers, is there someway to do it? Thank you again!
I notice that later on you are using this model to add blend shapes to the face. Is the head still seperate from the body mesh.....because you make several copies of the head to make the blendshapes. How does this work....thankyou
Yes, the model was made with a separate head (like a barbie). If you have one mesh, body and head, you'll have to duplicate the whole mesh. So instead of a bunch of floating heads, it will be a bunch of floating bodies. :) I hope that helps!
It's pretty complicated and the goal was to create a basic rig, and I think that's beyond the scope of this tutorial series. But if I have time, I'll try to squeeze it is. :)
I created my character only from the left side then i duplicate special it to the right and combined both of that . When i move the rig , the mesh separated again , any solution? 😅

Great tutorial!!!
Hey monica i wonder if you have any advice on when to use a facial rig versus when to use blend shapes? Love your work as always!
when i bind the skin why i have one controller only spine

@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Thankyou....so there is no way to seperate the head....add blends and then re-attach ???
Why no IK for the arms and translating the wrists.. am I missing something?
So great! Thank you for your work. Will there be a facial rig to this aswell?
hi , love your video really helpful.. could make a tutorial for ik and fk option ? thank you

Yikes! It doesn't sound like the vertices merged. Select the vertices, and merge. I hope that helps!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus thankyou! Will try it later
Thnks keep it up 👍
Thank you Ankit! I really appreciate your continued support. :)
love it
can you also show face rigging/controllers?
I'm going to show basic face rigging. Keep an eye out because it's coming soon!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Thank you!
Where is hand and head ik handle ? I am so confused
Hand/arms are in FK, not IK.
