I'm currently wearing this exact model and I love it. The color combo is great on this guy and I think the compass bezel is a fun change of pace. My only complaint is with the crystal. If there is any AR coating, it's minimal. Occasionally, the reflection makes me need to tilt the watch to better see the hands. A boxed or domed crystal would have been a nice touch as well, but now I'm getting nit-picky. lol Anyway, I'm very happy with this watch and would absolutely recommend it!
@@Ferien7 It's more about having an AR coating than shape. Most of my other watches are either domed or boxed sapphire with single or double AR coating. Those shapes may have distortion, but the AR coating really cuts down on the reflective glare, especially in direct sunlight.
I think having the reflective glass actually adds to the functionality in terms of design for air rescue purposes ? Correct me if I'm wrong but it could be helpful as a signaling tool to passing by aircrafts... hmmm....
@@limacuan I have heard that the ability to signal is the intended purpose, which is a fun touch and goes with the case back. Realistically though, I think I would have preferred if they'd just given the crystal an AR coating. Ultimately, this is a really great watch, so when I mention this, it is the most minor of criticisms. I'm wearing this watch right now and very happy with it. :)
I could not decide between the blue and this one, so I had to get both. Now I had to get the SRPH17 which is the black version on the bracelet. I am hoping the black one looks like a low cost Willard alternative.
The lack of AR (or minimal AR) could be used to flash signals to someone a ways away or in the air... (or could just be Seiko cutting a cost haha...either way I think it works on this piece)
I just tried on this watch today in a watch shop along with the new case 41mil rolex submariner and both of them looked anazing, the seiko isa way more attainable goal tho and hopefully I'll be able to buy it pretty soon!!! I love this watch
@@ClickSpringReview yes they're both amazing, although one is way more overpriced than the other... I'll let you figure out which one...😂😂 However the tortoise I think might be the best watch for my wrist and I loved the colour, I love how the strap looks but as you said it feels too stiff, the only to things I see myself changing are the strap and the bezel(it looks great but I don't have any use for a compass, I'd rather have minute markers, the action is great tho)
I love that watch but I just can't seem to take my double 007 off my wrist?. It's 25 years old and it has been on several of deployments all over the world and has never left my wrist. Still works like it's new
Cool Buck sounds like it has some stories to tell , What's the time keeping like on it? normally they need a service or replacement movement every 10 years say to keep good time Sir
Im just gonna wait and buy it cheaper second hand. I love the sapphire upgrade and the smaller case, but i rather have a dual time bezel. Its no biggie, i will just swap it out with a 12 hour bezel. Hopefully strapcode makes a bracelet for it. Not a fan of ropes around my wrist.
So I'm guessing you right pretty will on the equator then in which case as you say it wouldn't work, its only designed as a backup as lets face it your phone has a built in compass plus GPS anyway

A domed crystal would be even more reflective than the flat crystal fyi

I’m really digging this one. Good review mate.
Cheers Michael
Now we need a Mini Tortoise!
LOL :)

I can see where your coming from there with the Willard thing

There was something about this watch it has to be said , I've not tried the new Sub yet as there is never one in a AD to play with :)

I thought the same about the bezel but the colour just looks so good :)

Very nice piece
I think so to Patrick 👍🏻

I'm a big fan of StrapCode bracelets myself
It always amazes me that they have never offered a 12 hour bezel on the alpinist and now this aswell
I guess a 12 hour bezel would be handy for a second time zone
Love the colour
I fully agree myself
is this a pistachio or hummus color?
I’m not sure but I’m getting hungry thinking about it sir :)
nice colour way
was about to buy this but the compass only work when the sun is shining, or is visible, and is not strait above like near equator

It’s a terrain turtle 🐢.
😁👍🏻
how would this compare to the seiko alpinist? thanks
Thats a tough one as I really like the 38mm Alpinist dial
What’s the bezel insert diameter?? I will replace that.
Sorry Sir I don't have the watch anymore so cant tell you
Nice watch apart from the useless bezel.
That the hole point of the Land Turtle is the compass bezel I guess sir
