that's such great advice. I never understood why ppl are like "I hate____'s music. He's such an asshole." Look he's not coming over for dinner lol. Either dig the art or don't. The way Tom says "YOU ARE DONE!" is so pure! Just like a kid telling a tale. He lived like a kid - having fun, and taking hardships only as new challenges. Great Tom! ❤️
ironically i rarely hear other people say they like them. a lot of people say "the music is very simplistic" or "it's just chords"..... and that's of the people that even know them. i seem to be the only one that holds them up as one of my top bands of all time (in people i've interacted with face-to-face or friends)

Had a major brain injury on Christmas Day 2023. When I was out of neuroglial surgery & coma Tom was sitting at the end of my bed, tucked me in, & kissed my forehead. It was real & wonderful!!
In the 80s I hated hair metal bands. It’s just like the synthetic produced crap they manufacture today. Grunge changed all that at least for a short while but it was real.
Grunge wasn’t more “real”…. Is was more wallowed in the singer’s self pity. It focused on the bad exclusively. Grunge was full of cheap cynics who made a generation of kids cheap cynics.
My buddy put in Nevermind in his car (cassette of course) and said, "Listen to this". Idk exactly what I said but I was like, "Man, that sounds like garbage." We were 17, raised on hair, metal, 70's and stuff. We cruised around and it started growing on me. By the third listen I was convinced this was best album I'd ever heard. One of the few times in my life I experienced that drastic of change in opinion.
He had a beautiful voice and he was absolutely gorgeous. “No one sings like you anymore” is accurate as all get out. Can’t go wrong with Soundgarden, temple of the dog, Audioslave and his solo music.
Nirvana were the second band I obsessed over as a young teenager. 2 of my school friends had tickets to see them in Cardiff but sadly Kurt never made the show. His death bummed us out so much, genuinely gutted.
Tom Petty had a way with words , I loved both he and Kurt...still do! Something strange? I just typed Tom Petty has and I hit the space bar and it changed it to had....it happened again writing this!! I'm not one of those people who believe that the ghost of Tom Petty had anything to do with it....but it's still a little woo woo 😂 May they both rest in peace! 🙏 They both are part of my life forever. ✌️🎸🎶🎵🙏
His voice is soothing like george harrisons voice. I wish i could've met him. I feel like i could've probably had a heartfelt conversation with him. He seems to be chill like that. I didn't realize how much he meant to me until it was too late. I play guitar and feel like i should write a heartfelt tribute. I mean, i'm learning his version of "i won't back down" and that outta be enough of a tribute. But i feel like i should write something of my own. 😢😢
It really speaks to how esteemed authenticity is. Granted, sometimes its just a veneer, or misinterpreted humor. But glaring contrievences begin to grate on people's nerves. Like they sense that you are lying to them somehow. Its not unlike the way people view politicians or the media.
The early 80’s hair bands rocked until Poison’s Every Rose Has a Thorn, then they all tried to out spandex and lipstick each other in sappy power ballad squalor.
To be fair, I’ve always said that hair metal/glam metal killed itself and it was Kurt and the grunge era that put the final nail in the coffin. By the early 90s most the hair groups that were still together had devolved into self-parody.
Yeah even by 1989 it was a little bit formulatic and there were copycat bands popping up, hair metal wall probably biggest from 84-88. Grunge just gave people something new
I love Tom Petty and Nirvana but I also love 80s Hair Metal and there’s nothing wrong with that either. That period in music and style was revolutionary in so many ways.

When Tom Petty says your Band is the Most Significant Thing Since the Beatles...
“He cut them down like wheat before the sickle.”
Crazy to think about it that way but, he sure did.
Hweet
That's honestly the coolest way of saying that I could think of. Rip Tom
That would make some great lyrics

RIP Tom, Kurt, and Taylor. We love and miss you guys dearly. Rock on wherever you may be..🎸🤘🏻💟
Hearing the legend that is Tom say this is genuinely heart warming for me. My two favorite performers of all time.
Could you imagine Tom Petty saying these things about you 😢
This is my first time looking into the eyes of Tom Petty and I could tell he had a heart of gold rest in peace 😔😔😢😢😢❤️🙏
I LOVE how Tom Petty made that analogy, Tom Petty is one of my favorites since I was little along with Nirvana
Another reason to love the late Tom Petty more !!!!!
Holy fu@k this is one of the most beautiful props ever given..💜
He’s right
Tom couldn’t have said it any better
I remember that day when I first listened to Nevermind. I miss Kurt and Tom, rest in peace brothers.
There’s music before Nirvana and music after Nirvana and you can still hear his influence to this day.
Rip to the legend Tom petty
Petty was right. Nirvana were the biggest and most significant band since the Beatles.

Tom never changed through all the different fads .
True!
He was my favorite character in king of the hill
I was there! From the mouth of one of America’s greatest songwriters and music historians, Tom says it best. Miss Kurt

Wise words!!! Amen to that Tom!
Perfectly said! Love you Tom, RIP. Beautiful compliment to Kurt. And yes, we were READY for Nirvana 🥰

I never heard him just talk. But now i did, his voice is just as soothing as george harrison's voice.
Rest In Peace Taylor Tom and Kurt 3 absolute legends
In the 80s I hated hair metal bands. It’s just like the synthetic produced crap they manufacture today. Grunge changed all that at least for a short while but it was real.
I feel the same about mainstream music especially what most of rap/pop has become, Even country sounds more stupid than ever. Somethings gotta give.
I mean Mötley crüe was good tho but same thing with rap and country and stuff like early 2000’s was good and 90’s but new is trash
Hopefully we have something like that happen to this generation of crap music.

Very well said, that's why I named my son after Kurt he changed music
Amen Tom!!!! ❤
He used the Beatles formula, and got the Beatles result.👏
You spelled "Pixies" wrong.
100% spot on. If you weren't there to see it, it happened just like ol' Tom says right here....
Rest In Peace to both of them 🙏😔
