I'm a watch collector and own nothing but quartz. I like the simplicity of just picking one out of my case and wearing it and not having to deal with the maintenance of an automatic.
@@nyancorp I own the EFR-564D-1AVCR EFV-100D-2AVUEF Blue Dial EFV- 100D-1AVUEF Black Dial EFV-100L-7AVUEF (The white dial on a tan leather strap is damn awesome) www.edifice-watches.eu/euro/collection/classic/efv-100d-1avuef/
With you on the quartz! After having two mechanicals break down - and break my heart - I've started going for quartz in all my watches. Of course there's the romance of the mechanical movement, and I do still have some that I can play around with sometimes, but for every day wear quartz is just freaking great. Thin, light movements, supremely accurate, inexpensive, much more reliable, often solar powered...
Yep Timex has been on ball with the automatics(even though they may be overpriced) but still they now the market and their demographics and have been on par 9/10
Got the Timex Allied lt 40mm in blue as a knock around watch and I have to say I've been really pleased.. Plus I'm never lonely as the sound of the ticking keeps me company... Good review as usual, keep it up!
That really is a great looking watch. Nice to see a solid bracelet. Kinda wish they would have squeezed in Indiglo, but maybe that wouldn't work with the sunburst dial.
I really think quartz gets a bum rap! They are just as well made, they are very accurate, and they are less hassle. I enjoy my quartz collection as much as I do my automatics. I have worn Timex watches for over 60 years, and they always perform well. This is a good looking everyday wear watch. I wouldn’t be embarrassed wearing it anywhere, anytime! Great review as always Jody!!! See you in the next one!
You can get a Tissot quartz Chronometer on a solid metal bracelet (with microadjust) for $150 on Jomashop. It is similar in size to this Timex and has sapphire crystal.
Man, I look at this watch and suddenly it's the late 60s and I'm rooting around in my dad's bedside table looking for some Certs (a breath mint that was popular among smokers back then) and seeing my dad's watch in his bedside butler. This is a classic!
Jody, when I was a kid, my first watch was a Timex (parent bought in 1972). I remember the excitement. Since then, I have been rooting for them to stand tall again. I look forward to the progress they (hopefully) will continue to make. GO Timex... YOU CAN DO IT!
Look at the Citizen NJ0100-89A if you are impatient and don't want to wait for Timex to produce an Automatic. Also, comparably priced. I got mine for about $130 USD.
I think Timex is really making headway here. For the price, it's a beauty. I waited ages to get the Q and when it arrived, I was disappointed and as such, I ended up returning it. It just seemed a bit flimsy at 180 USD, Now I see you can get them in every color of the rainbow. Had it been priced the same as this one, I would have been happy with it. To be honest, I prefer the look of this one. Their T80 Retro digitals are pretty nice as well at 60 USD
I love the Snoopy Waterbury or Marlin automatic. I do have a lot of Quartz Timex watches, 4 in all and 2 from the 70's. I love the brand and great to see them making good products again.
Timex is really killing it with great affordable watches lately. Perfect to grab one of these instead of winding and setting one of my 20 autos I dont keep running.
Yeah, as a newbie and now at watch collecting, I learned after a couple of months nothing but quartz for me. I gave my two mechanical watches away. Don't want to deal with the start and stop and worry to see if it is going to work for the entire day, which I found it did not.
Indiglo requires that the dial be translucent, i.e. some kind of plastic. This sunburst steel dial is very classy and reminds me of vintage watches. I think they made the right call.
Nah Quartz has been good for years already. As much as I hate to say this, million dollars companies, MVMT, Daniel Wellington and other fashion brands build their legacies upon quartz watches only.
Timex has been on 🔥. Sure their quartz, mineral crystal and, low lume, but they're sub 40mm, timeless designs, and affordable. Way cooler than the cheap fashion watches we've seen for years!
I love how this watch looks, and it may very well be worth the price quality-wise. But I just have difficulty paying $100+ for a *Timex* when, for a little less, the same, or a little more cabbage, I can have a Seiko, Citizen, Pulsar, Bertucci, etc. with better features and panache
The quality of your videos Jody keep getting better and better. We appreciate all you do for the channel and us fellow watch lovers. Cheers from Canada
IT is a very nice looking watch - I just wish Timex took care of a few niggling issues - as you pointed out. This watch, regardless of price, will get compliments.
I bought this one a year ago for just under $90 and I am generally quite happy with it. Like you, I found myself wanting an included half-link (even left a review on the Timex site saying as much) and wearing it a little loose, but then I lost some weight, removed another link and it fits like a dream. A slightly larger date with a beveled or framed window would be nice. The crown on mine is a little mushy and it can be a task to find first position to use the quick set date. I don’t think Timex puts sapphire crystals in even their most expensive watches, so it’s no surprise that this one doesn’t have one. Overall, very nice.
Good review video. I am wearing the Timex automatic Marlin called the Liquor Store Watch. It has a beauty of a domed acrylic crystal, 38mm wide and a Miyota movement. Looks like it came from 1960. Cheers
In a way, it's almost good that we here in Canada don't get access to discounted watch stores because I would be broke. This style speaks to me, but I wouldn't pay CAD $150 for one. $100 and it would've had a sale. Not sure if I would go with black or silver though.
Had to buy one. Love the looks and can’t wait to wear it. My first timex in years. Used to think they were a bit naff but looks like they’ve upped their game in the style department. Well done timex
Jody! If you like this quartz timex, I suggest you look into the SEIKO SUR307 and SUR315 they are great watches with SARB035 dna. Also, they have sapphire crystals, solid links and under $130
Great review as always! Love the size, case, and classic baton details on this one. I have a watch that came with a similar butterfly bracelet and was seriously unhappy about the lack of adjustment - but ordered a Strapcode “Push Button Diver’s Clasp” and it fits perfectly, adding 3 micro adjust holes. It *should* work for any bracelet as long as the width is the same.
It's a nice watch, but I think a Casio BEM-111D is a better choice with sapphire crystal. I bought one with 2 year warranty under 60 euro (around 70 USD) and I didn't regret it.
Timex? Who would've thought! Nice looking watch though. Your nod to the Marlin had me straight onto the Timex site for a look (reminding me of my first 28mm Timex). Looking forward to the Marlin review, once you get one in.
I really dig the gold version, looks really good with that sunburst dial and not that expensive. Though I’d probably pay extra to get automatic. But quartz is fine for the price, with mechanical it can get tiresome if you only want to wear a watch for a day and you have to set it all over again...
That watch is right up my street, apart from that date window mind you. I think quartz is perfect for a timex, takes a kickin keeps on tickin. I love a sunburst dial, as for it sitting low and lose maybe the gold version would suit that look better. Great content as always, love the inclusive content.. it’s all about the watches.. not the channel that says Omega JLC and Rolex are the best ever don’t by anything else.. then they hate on inexpensive watches until they get their hands on an exclusive new micro brand.. suddenly the £200 seiko movement watch is on par with the high end stuff just because of a paid review or free watch.
I agree with you Jody. I love Seiko 5, but I find that they are really variable in terms of keeping good time. I got a Marlin winding when was on deep sale - $99 - and time is a little bit more reliable with that than seiko 5. But - it is a beauty. Truthfully, the Timex Weekenders I have keep the more reliable times.
Such good proportions and I like them on a bracelet. I wear my watches above the bone, so exact fit is a must for me. WHat a shamethey skipped such an important detail of the bracelet.
Vote 1 for pushpins, they are easy to push in and out, and they stay in! I was out with my budget Pagani Design watch when a bracelet screw started coming loose. This was definately a pain, pushpins are better on cheap watches IMO!
What's the quartz movement? 90s-era in-house Timex m905? Or Epson/Seiko like the newer Timex Solar watches? And more to the point, is it loud like the m905, or are has Timex finally understood that watches should be seen and not heard?
Handsome watch. Kudos to you for reviewing a quartz watch. We all love our automatics; but there is something nice about seeing the second hand tick. I recently purchased a Timex Navi Harbor on a whim and have almost forgotten what a quartz movement looks like. I must say there is something appealing about them. This Milano is a beauty and I really like the white dial. They are Out of Stock here in the States. Bummer, I might have squeezed the trigger on that one for the price. Keep up the great work on reviewing affordable watches. Seeing all these videos on Rolexes, Omegas and Pateks makes me feel a little sad.
Reasonable value for the money for a change. It like they looked at the growing Chinese made watch market and made a contender. But I'm not excited enough to go buy that and surprised Mr X wants one.
I fully support Timex upping their game, but I have to wonder who's their intended buyer and what retail outlets they're going to use? I don't see Walmart or Target shoppers paying $100 for a watch, even with the Timex logo on it. Do they expect jewelers to make room in their display cases for a $100 quartz Timex? And their competition on Amazon in the $100 range is stiff. You can get an Invicta Pro Diver for less or a Citizen Eco Drive for $20 more. And compared to Chinese watches like Pagani Design the Timex has nothing to offer other than the brand name. So while I like the watch I don't see it being a marketing success in that price range. At $50 maybe? but then it has to compete with the likes of the Casio Duro. I just don't see this being the success that the Q was.
Just a little pricey for a quartz. For $100 they should have had solid end links and a better clasp... OR... same + sapphire. I wish they had made it an automatic for another $20 or $30. Jody... a request. Review the Geckota G-01 Vintage Dive Watch!!!! Pretty Please!!! :) Prettiest watch I've ever seen.
I know I think I have to join some sort of group. I am not placing my order and I just bought the Timex Bank Street right before I saw this video. Ugggg!!
I would love to see a comparison video for the "Chinese Special" versions of popular watches. For example, the watch you reviewed in "My Favourite $75 Pagani Design!" alongside similar watches from Cadisen, Parnis, etc.
Jody is there any chance we can see a review of an all black/black bracelet upcoming? I love the classic silver tones as much as the next guy but outside of the dive watch market there are alot of attractive all blacks but they dont seem much in vogue; am I out of trend or is there just alot of junk not worth reviewing?
That would be decent bang for the buck ... if it were an automatic. $100 for a quartz is a bit much. I can live without sapphire, but $100 a quartz that isn't solar or atomic-timed just feels like too much to me. You can put several variants of Submariner homage on your wrist for that kind of money.
hi Jody, could you review one of those Rodina, Nomos Tangente homages? and review some other 6105 homages like steeldive and San Martin and do a comparison since they vary in price and quality. I like how detailed you are in evaluating the quality of watches and I'd love to get an opinion of an homage expert like you!
An unforgettable gift for a retiring colleague having 40 years length of service in a coal mine or police... Just remembered what and why the bad guy did with his watch in Speed (1994).
It's just beautiful on the leather strap! And it's available on the German Timex Website for €99,- Must hit "buy now" button, must hit "buy now" button, yes, no, yes, aaah, what to do? Jody, please, no more affordable watches on your channel, you're killing me! 😄😄😄
But mechanical carries the sophistication and wonders of physics, craftsmanship and constructions complexity. You need a super accurate mechanical and theres the Seiko's Springdrive and Kinetic movement.
Strangely as the thumbnail came up for this I was wearing my gold Milano XL. What disappoints me is that for £99 you could buy a Chinese homage with screw links, sapphire crystal, better clasps i could go on. Surely Timex could take some cues from them and just add a bit more value to it. What do you think Jody? PS. Love the channel 😊
Hey Jody, great review as always. I'll stick with the dress Guanqin or Cadisen automatics from Aliexpress for about the same $$ but that is just me. Cheers!
Add a no-date dial variant, add a manual wind movement with hacking (to keep it thin and avoid the cheap automatic movement rotor noise), fix the bracelet, make it a screw-down case back, and I'm sold. C'mon Timex, you're a big enough boy to build your own cheap automatic hacking movement to compete with the NH35. These latest designs are nice, but they're powered by garbage.
Clean, attractive, simple quartz timepieces are so underrated...
I'm a watch collector and own nothing but quartz. I like the simplicity of just picking one out of my case and wearing it and not having to deal with the maintenance of an automatic.
In the price range of the Casio Edifice but the Edifice has a screw down crown and screw down case back.
Exactly. Would love to see Jody take a look at one of the EFV-100 or 110s.
My favourite is the Casio MTS-100D-7AVEF. A nice watch with a sapphire crystal and a 10 year battery for about 80$ ( I paid 50€ on Amazon).

I gotta say. Timex is really starting to pick up the pace!
From hero to zero and back again?
Yep Timex has been on ball with the automatics(even though they may be overpriced) but still they now the market and their demographics and have been on par 9/10
First the Timex t80 x Pacman and now this 😍😍😍😍
DMGMillis they have the heritage. I expect a bit more from them. I really was hoping for more as it is such a great brand.
Not literally, I hope.
Kinda wish they would have squeezed in Indiglo, but maybe that wouldn't work with the sunburst dial.
jody's way of greeting HELLO sounds like a neighbor calling me from a distance....😂😂
It grows on you.

Nice watch, nice to see Timex being a part of the conversation again without mentioning Indiglo 👍
I was thinking this watch needs Indiglo to remedy the lume situation. Or a luminous dial.
Jody, when I was a kid, my first watch was a Timex (parent bought in 1972). I remember the excitement. Since then, I have been rooting for them to stand tall again. I look forward to the progress they (hopefully) will continue to make. GO Timex... YOU CAN DO IT!
HA! Now that's a very cool Timex. Gotta say the black one looks very cool, too!
Very decent looking watch... Think a dark blue sunburst dial would look nice on this one.
If they do an automatic version of this like they did for the Q then I'm definitely going to pick one up.
Look at the Citizen NJ0100-89A if you are impatient and don't want to wait for Timex to produce an Automatic. Also, comparably priced. I got mine for about $130 USD.
Most of Timex automatics are insanely expensive.

I think Timex is really making headway here. For the price, it's a beauty. I waited ages to get the Q and when it arrived, I was disappointed and as such, I ended up returning it. Disappointing that they didn't throw some indiglo in there.
Yeah. It's my favorite "lume" in the industry. They really passed up a chance. Looks like a good watch, all in all, though.
Thinking the same thing.
Indiglo requires that the dial be translucent, i.e. some kind of plastic. This sunburst steel dial is very classy and reminds me of vintage watches. I think they made the right call.

I love the look of this watch and for that price, and the durability of Timex, it's a no brainer!
great video, fast intro, getting right to the point, excellent!
Brands should stop making bracelets with no micro adjustment! Perhaps we sould start a movement 🤔
The watch itself is nice though n
I really dig the gold version, looks really good with that sunburst dial and not that expensive. Though I’d probably pay extra to get automatic. But quartz is fine for the price, with mechanical it can get tiresome if you only want to wear a watch for a day and you have to set it all over again...

face and bezel look clean. wonder what the gold face looks like in the sun? Quartz I love.
I agree with you Jody. I love Seiko 5, but I find that they are really variable in terms of keeping good time. I got a Marlin winding when was on deep sale - $99 - and time is a little bit more reliable with that than seiko 5. But - it is a beauty. Hello Jody, what about the Timex Legacy Day Date 41mm. I believe it has a Seiko movement and a Jubilee bracelet.
Such good proportions and I like them on a bracelet. I wear my watches above the bone, so exact fit is a must for me. WHat a shamethey skipped such an important detail of the bracelet.

Yah!!!!!! Thank you for the review!! Mine arrives tomorrow don't tell my Wife 😆🙈
This really is a nice looking watch...too bad about the bracelet. Thank you for another excellent review Jody 😊👍
Thanks Jeffrey!
F*** me !! A seconds Hand that hits almost perfectly on a 100 bucks watch? Either you have been very lucky or this is a Grand Seiko contender 😁😂
I don't know if it's new lights or filmed when there was more sunshine, but the lighting looks fantastic in the intro.
Lovely size and good choice. Please also look at MK1 mechanical from Timex.
Pretty watch, agreed. I have couple of Timex watches and they work perfect.
Reasonable value for the money for a change. It like they looked at the growing Chinese made watch market and made a contender. But I'm not excited enough to go buy that and surprised Mr X wants one.
I was looking at these the other week, so it is great to see this review, thanks.
Timex were the tough work watch when I was growing up. Then came the Casio digital and Scotland was never the same:-(
I fully support Timex upping their game, but I have to wonder who's their intended buyer and what retail outlets they're going to use? I don't see Walmart or Target shoppers paying $100 for a watch, even with the Timex logo on it. Do they expect jewelers to make room in their display cases for a $100 quartz Timex? I would love to see a comparison video for the "Chinese Special" versions of popular watches. For example, the watch you reviewed in "My Favourite $75 Pagani Design!" alongside similar watches from Cadisen, Parnis, etc.
But why no Indiglo? 😔
Nice watch and review. Quartz is the way to go.
I know it doesnt really match with the more elegant dial, which indeed looks good, but I'd prefer Indiglo with my 100 dollar Timex quartz..
The second hand rarely hits the indexes straight on. I realize it's a $99 watch, but that would drive me friggin' nuts.
I feel like what a misaligned bezel is to a Seiko, a second had that doesn't line up with the second markers is to a Timex. My Q is comically bad!
The only time they hit the markers is when they're machine assembled
Hmmm well this is a nice little beaut!!! I’ve been splurging out on Timex recently!!!!! Best budget field watch is a show coming up !!!!!!;)
Nice looking watch. The 2nd Timex I could be tempted to buy (the other being the pacman)

Holy retro Batman! Reminds me a great deal of my Grandfather's watch.
Love the work Timex is putting in to these! I'd love to see them do more automatics tho!
love the case...love the branding of timex too. Looks great on the leather for me...
It looked much better on the leather strap imo 👍The second hand seemed to line up with some of the indices but not with all of them.
If you want to get a Marlin, best way is to monitor the Todd Snyder web site. They often have them for sale.
I like my watches to keep time so I like quartzes 🙃
But mechanical carries the sophistication and wonders of physics, craftsmanship and constructions complexity. You need a super accurate mechanical and theres the Seiko's Springdrive and Kinetic movement.
Love it, but the lack of micro adjusts is a total fail.
It’s a problem with bracelets on some of their other ones
@@richardshaw1968 I'm always in-between, either too tight or too loose 🤔😔. Timex have done clasps with tons of micro adjusts before.
My 7000$ Omega hasn't got micro adjust or half links either. 😅
@@nyancorp What are they thinking of? 😂🤯
Hey awesome videos! Have you ever considered reviewing the new seiko alpinists?
Yes Luke, I've considered buying one also..... Maybe before year end. Cheers!
@@JustOneMoreWatch Waiting for the prices to get a bit more adequate, no? :D
You need to review the Timex Expedition North. Fantastic watches for the money.
I can’t stand it when the second hand misses the markers!
I cant stand ur mom
Hugedickerino Kripperino You don’t have to. My Mum passed away last week.
Claus-L. Müller ik, thats the part i cant stand about her, she isnt with me ;(

Nice and simple but i believe Casio mtp line prices rules in this category, nice watch though
Looks good. Iam saving for an OP 36mm white and this watch caught my eye!
White dial, simple layout. That's nice.
The dial itself is stands out, but the Quartz movement.., i don't think so? And for $99...
Anyway, a good looking watch and a good review!
Hey Jody, great review as always. I'll stick with the dress Guanqin or Cadisen automatics from Aliexpress for about the same $$ but that is just me. Cheers!
C1032 and GJ16034 both great watches if you lobe an Ali bargain!
Jay H Totally agree - don’t forget Starking .
That Marlin in 34mm looks good!
I bought the Silver and gold which are fun in the collection.
Does this watch tic as loudly as some Timex watches such as the weekender?
