Absolutely brilliant. Fitted a new cartridge to cure a leak after using shower for over 10 years. its an excellent shower once again. Couldn't have done it without this guide.
Really very, very helpful. One suggestion: the kit comes with grease to grease the housing before attempting to refit the cartridge. So much easier when you know this!
Excellent video which gave me the courage to do it myself. But mine was over 10 years old and the temperature control knob was stuck solid, not slipping off as yours did with your brand new, never seen hard water, unit. I decided to pull it really hard not caring if I broke the valve as I had a new one to fit. So the valve broke in half, half in the main unit, the other half in the control knob. The half in the main unit came out as in the video, though needing a couple of flat head screw drivers to ease it out after unscrewing. the half in the metal temp control knob wasn't so easy until after soaking in de-scaler and then soaking in WD40 overnight - then could be levered out.
Hi Jock, no, removing the cartridge doesn’t expose the backplate. The valve is secured to the wall/backplate with a grub screw which is accessible at all times. You can tighten the grubscrew to secure the shower control to the backplate. If you need any further advice our customer service team will be able to advise and send the installation and user guide. not sure what is required to actually get the cartridge out, after unscrewing for approx 4 and a half full turns there is a click but the cartridge is completely immobile. Continuing to unscrew just results in the click on every full turn and no progress to removing it. Any advice would be useful.

@@samanthaparker7040 we left it as it is. It works OK at the moment, we'll probably replace the shower like for like when the cartridge eventually fails

Hey did anyone figure this out in the end? I've got to the exact same point and having the same issue.
