  • Like so many things in Fractal Land, it's easy to record like the pros and capture your D.I. signal alongside your processed guitar tone. ‪@coopercarter‬ shows you how!

      +1 here too! Make it a Fractal Saturday video Cooper!!! :) I'm guessing it's playing the DI in reaper and then it plays through the Axe FX and Reaper captures output 1/2 in the other track...but then again I'm a scrub lol. BTW, Reaper is killer. I think I paid less than $100 bucks and my simple pea brain loves it more than Audacity or Garage Band.

    In Reaper, you can actually record both a clean DI signal and the output signal of your Fractal unit on the same track, and alter between both signals in playback. That way you don't have to record the same take on two different tracks, which is somewhat cumbersome indeed.

    Great video Cooper! I especially like the trick of using the clean guitar's track to quickly split the processed track. I hadn't thought of doing that.

    The foto on your desk gave me this idea.
    You start with a distorted track,
    but thanks to the DI track in parallel
    you reamp it to smooth sounding lullaby
    for your little angel.
    All the best for your family.

    I love "Fractal Land". Think of all the major remastered albums, I'm sure they wished they had a DI track.

    Thank you for this video. I too would love a video in this mode on re amping from the DI signal.
    I’m in Studio One, using a Studio Live 32S as my interface so I’d be using the second method you’ve shown here with Output 3.

      How did this ultimately work out for you in Studio One? What do you find to be the best connection method and routing? I just got my FM9. I setup the first method for playback and recording. Seemed a bit odd with the i/o in S1, I think I had to set it to 3/4 so I could hear S1 metronome. Haven't tried reamp yet, haven't tried the second method either but would like to so that my monitors can stay connected to my UR44 interface. I guess what I am saying is that I would rather not use the FM9 as the interface as long as I get low latency with UR44...

    I love the video, thank you very much. Do you know if I can use this technique with a Scarlet 2i2?? I have a Paul Landers Fly Rig (Ramstein) and would love to be able to get the DI for editing. Thank you very much

    Hi Cooper, I'm running the FM9 into Logic X. I've followed your instructions here on how to get the dry DI. But the DI track is recording with the distorted sound too.I tried the usb method of using the FM9 as the audio interface, AND running it into my SSL audio interface. Both are the same. Any suggestions?

  • @Straightedge63
    @Straightedge63 Год назад

    not sure if this is exactly the same on FM3, but what im doing is setting up my scarlett 2i2 with 1 XLR to output 1 on the FM3 and then 1 instrument cable into output 2 on FM3, then in editor, having out 1 be the main tone, and taking input 1 to output 2 immediately. is this the method you would recommend? or is there something better for FM3 specifically?

  • @RayBachGuitar

    Is the Fractal FM3 its own audio interface so you don't have to connect it to a separate audio interface? If that's true, just setup the audio settings in Reaper for the FM3 to be the audio interface and use the FX button on the track to open the FM3 Edit?

    Dude this helps SO MUCH! Thank you! I've got a song written in reaper right now but I'm ready to get some of the final takes as I move to double/ quad tracking. I was worried I'd have to spend money on a DI box and money's tight right now. Another reason I LOVE my fm9 turbo. P.S. I'm the guy you guys sent two fm9's to by accident and I returned the other one. Feel free to send me an expression pedal as a thank you XD XD. JK.... sort of XD

    I'm having some problems with my FM3. An annoying noise that the noise gate cannot cut... it's like a high-pitched and annoying hiss that gets into the signal when I do Palm muting. I am seriously thinking that if this is not resolved, I could sell it.

    Is the sound standard 043 patch on the unit or custom made? If the latter, can it be downloaded? I really like it

    I’ve tried this. But I notice that my DI record is very very low. I can’ see it very well even if I zoom it. Is something wrong with my setup? Another question. Don’t you think my DI signal would be better recorded if I use an normal FM3 output (P10) instead of USB?

    @G66 @Cooper Carter: I want to do something and i can' figure it out. I want to use my axe fx3 to send signal to computer to play with my vst amp sim and be able to also switch to my axe fx 3 preset but when im on the axe fx3 preset i dont want to ear anymore my computer amp sim and switch to one each other for exemple i like the heavy guitar on amp sim computer but like the clean tone of axe fx 3 and switch the diffrent sound in live situation considering i got my audio interface, computer and axe fx with me with a backing track going onon the computer. I konw its hard but i just haven't solve it yet lol Thanks!

    Is there a way to switch to input 2 for all factory presets so I can quickly audition a stereo line level signal without having to manually change the input block for every individual preset?

    • @michaelcarlson6752
      @michaelcarlson6752 2 года назад

      I had this same question. In my setup, I have 3 inputs and 2 outputs on my presets, so it's a bit of a pain to switch these up every time. I thought of having the same preset with different input/output configurations, and just copy the preset to an alt preset with different settings, but I have a lot of different configuration combos with 5 ins and outs. If it's just an A-B option, that's just two presets and you can just call one 'High Gain1a' and HighGain-In1, have them next to each other and call the 2nd one 'High Gain-In2'.

    Is it possible in fm9 to record di/processed signal and effects separately (like delay reverb) to heave effects on another track

  • @eanroad
    @eanroad Год назад

    I don't have my FM9 Turbo yet (I'm on the wait list), however this maybe a silly question but what if I already have my interface (RME UCX II) connected (I use Total Mix to control monitor levels,etc.). Am I still able to connect the FM9 as an interface and use it as such to record a DI signal (for ramping)? And am I able to reamp in this scenario (where both the RME UCX II interface and the FM9 Turbo as an interface are connected together)?
