Man I can't get over how realistic this detune block sounds,. No tracking/warbling etc. I am a Quad Cortex user and this feature alone makes me want to try out an FM9
That's crazy how seamlessly it tracks and works. Can't even it tell it's there. Amazing. Fractal is so much above anything I've ever seen or used.
As always, a common sense solution to using the power of the unit in a real world setting. Thank you, Sir
Thank you for another excellent video. I have learned so much about my FM9 as well as my AX8 from you. A tremendous resource!
I use this block alot in my live show. We use Eb as our standard tuning. Although most songs are in Dropped D style tunings. And we go down to as low as Dropped A/B standard. I have all my basic sounds from clean, crunch, high gain and lead plus variations for use on my 8 scenes. I then have an iteration of that preset with the pitch block to achieve desired tuning adjustment for +3 to -7
This is awesome. I use the pitch block a lot live! Thanks for the video!
Exactly what I needed so I can play a couple of downtime songs without bringing extra guitars. On top of that the string are tighter which it’s definitely nicer to feel them that way and not floppy.
Wow. Have to mess with this. Continually amazed at what fractal can do. Too much actually. Haha
If I tried this and found it suitable, I would use this ALL the time! If only they were shipping. Would definitely have to try it and feel it to trust it though.
Thanks!!!
Unfortunately the pitch block from Fm3 is not good.
There’s a lot of lag and the tone is horrible.
I have a fx3 and the pitch is awesome !
You can o pu use the virtual capo if your playing very slow music if you play fast it’s just not fast enough. But a digittech drop pedal
Hi Cooper when I use the Pitch block with Virtual capo I get a serious lag in response. As soon as I bypass the pitch block everything is back okay. I have reported it to fractal. My settings for the pitch block identical to yours!
Great video. I play a lot of chord melody and I have to use a Boss OC-5 to split the strings to just the 3 lower strings. Is there a way to do this in the AxeFx III? Thanks Cooper.
One day when im big my name will come up on the FM9s wait list.
cool, but how it works with clean sound, or higher tunings? (if i would like to use it as a "traditional" capo)
So,using an expression pedal,I could simulate the EVH Steinberger Trans Trem thing?…
How could you make this a global on or off through out all presets when selected on one? Keeping virtual tuning the same in all presets selected live?
My regular tuning is E flat, I put my virtual capo at +1 and it sounds a little wierd, it’s not a clean note.
Im getting this weird chorus effect on the higher strings when I use the -1 function. Any advice on how to fix this? Im using the FM9 turbo and the effect block is in series. Thanks
Is open tuning available?
Using the virtual capo for an acoustic gig wouldn't work great, right? It's tough to play loud enough to drown out the guitar strings while the processed sound is playing.
Wouldn't it have to go 1st in the signal chain though? specially if you're going to use the Way...
How do you deal with the latency? I notice it also colors your tone a fair amount when the capo is on.
Adding some gain or saturation might help when tuning down with the virtual capo.
Hi. on my FM3, the Pichblock setting on -1 (or whatever), both the original and detuned sound is coming thru! How can i fix that?
check your mix? The virtual capo should default to 100%. Make sure you have the pitch block in SERIES not PARALLEL.
when using the expression pedal couldnt you just put like 95% on auto engage and not tie the epxression to the bypass button as well?
That's another way to do it, yes! Just experiment with the values until it matches where -1 comes in.
Hi when I try to follow this, the virtual cappo is giving me a doubble note. the original and a half step down. what am I doing wrong? ty
Make sure Mix is 100%. Also, don't be fooled by what you are hearing coming directly from the string to your ears... Turn up your amp so it drowns out the naked acoustic sound of you plucking the string.
@@tombest610 Yup I had to turn the amp up...thanks
I also have the annoynig lag on my FM3. Has anyone experienced the lag on there FM9?
it’s seamless on my fm9!
This video starts with a full minute of plugsplaining - fast forward one minute to avoid! AND Cooper Carter, how about a few answers to the questions people have asked here?
To clarify, the Virtual Capo DOESN'T do "different tunings" - by which guitarists mean open chords, drop D, DADGAD etc. It just takes your tuning up and down like a real capo, which doesn't save much time and as some people have said below, doesn't always work brilliantly - latency lags, tone colouration etc. Although it's a great tool for bringing in lower notes when you need them for specific songs- instant Baritone. However, as I do, to bring in octav- down bass for the bottom strings, the Boss OC3 or OC5 is still the best/only option.
Am i the only one experiencing an horrible lag with this one?
OK for saturated sounds, but if you want to use the Virtual capo with a clear sound, it's pathetic. And if you want to play arpeggios, don't even think about it.
For a 2000€ product, it's not very nice.
