The AllFather ODIN is the best mythological deity. In my head-cannon ODIN knew his 2 brothers would die, if they tried to kill Ymir, but went ahead cuz he wanted the power & throne
Is the mythological Odin similar to the Marvel version of Odin?
Mythos ODIN is much less defined & more mysterious. ODIN would traverse all the Realms, usually solo & in a disguise like GRIMNIR. WOTAN was known to be fickle & deceitful & could bring joy to his loved ones & be the life of the party, but ODIN would bring dread to his enemies and even at peace negotiations.
Some theories of ODIN say tht he foresaw the consequences of killing their progenitors death (YMIR), but the lives of his brothers Ville & Vie & the cementing of Ragnarok as a prophecy (the cycle of life/new beginnings could only happen after the destruction of what was previously before it).
ODIN encountered LOKI while wandering & liked LOKI so much that they became blood brothers & took an oath to not directly harm each other. Many say Wotan knew of the travesty that a pureblood Jotun like LOKI would bring forth by becoming an Asgardian, yet ODIN did what he wanted, per usual. Derivatives of the eddas say tht LOKI is an aspect of ODIN himself and LOKI came to be when ODIN shed his more malicious & mischievous side & ODIN didn't realize tht ODIN brought about every facet of Ragnarok himself by constantly thinking he could outsmart his destiny

Personally I don't really understand this lore is this a retcon is this something new because the seven Infinity Stones have been around in marvel for quite some time from the '60s or '70s if I'm not mistaken The origin of the Infinity Stones that I remember was at one point the Infinity Stone was a living primordial being that was lonely so that being split itself into seven stones now it is said that only six of the stones are generally in circulation but if the seventh stone was to ever be brought back with the other six that that ancient primordial being will be reborn so again I have no clue where this Bor supposedly created the seventh Infinity Stone stuff is coming from The 7th Infinity stone was part of an actual being which if you look at it kind of gives cretins as to why the infinity stones are able to bond to living beings because they were actually part of a living being

He was in an issue of Thor during the Simonson era...TIWAZ. He's about 30 feet tall. Lives in isolation and makes living ice creatures. Nursed Thor back to health and picked up Mjolnir saying it was a nice mallet. He commented on how Thor screamed so loud as a baby. Thor sensed their connection saying "there was something of Odin in him." And Tiwaz has his own ravens too!!!

I've read so many comics over the years and so many ask why no fat super heroes. Ok yes there a the one from Thor but he's a god so he can bear his weight in a fight but even he tires fast compared to fitter gods. We have the blob but he's not a hero he's a villain. There's been a few chubby mutants over the years but to be honest the reason that all superheroes are fit is this. Constant workouts to stay sharp and fit to protect people and do their job. Superheroes are like pro athletes just with higher stakes ifbthey lose. I mean honestly everyone cant be a capt america or wolverine with metabolisms that wont let them get fat.literally wolverines healing factor keeps him from it and capt americas metabolism is to high and would take tons of food to make him fat. But constant exercise and training keeps them looking hot.

Odin was the son of Bor and grandson of Bure in mythology. The names can be different sometimes though. For example Bor is the same as Burr or Burr. And Odin is the same as Oden or Woden.
@@tomasverner5354 I am a whole lot more up to date on Greek mythology my Nordic comes from shows and video games and small amount of research
@@Crossedflame It is similar to greek mythology in many ways. Like how Zeus also had a father Cronos and a grandfather Uranos. But less is known about the nordic mythology as far as I can understand. Odin is present as a character in later folklore in scandinavia though.

@@Crossedflame Well. Zeus maybe takes the price but the Asir were super weird. Like when Loki magically transformed himself into a female horse and mated with the horse of a giant. Gave birth to an eight legged magic horse. He then gifted the horse to Odin. Not evil but weird.
