    Question: wouldn’t nylon “melt” if a hot pot sat on it? I would think it would need to be 100% cotton.

      When in doubt, 100% cotton is best. You could use 2 strands of #4 cotton held together!

      You said initially you should have 7 loops on the hook for the puff stitch, but it looks like you have fewer in subsequent stitches. I am confused.
