If you don't want to have a gap after the wood dry out, leave the wood under the sun for at least 1 week before installing, that way it'll shrink before installing and you don't have gaps for privacy.
I need to replace several panels of our fence and this video has given me some great tips! Thank you!
Great Video! Short, Simple, Informative I personally like the back ground noise of the music.
We will be replacing our fence soon. I'm glad for the tips you provided.
Awesome. Hope it works out well!
Linda Taylor: did you do the fence project yourself? If you did, how did it turn out? Thanks!
Nice fence it looks really good compared to the one you took down. I have enjoyed watching your videos so i have now subbed, keep up the good work and videos.

Helps me a lot. I'm a woman and never had to do this before. I was wondering how to get the old panels out easily.
Very nice combo of metal posts and wood fencing. So many RUclipsrs / contractors use a 4x4, sometimes pressure treated. Care to explain your preference of metal over pressure treated wood (of any dimension).
Every fence that I've done with metal posts, those metal posts last 10+ years. The wooden posts start to warp after 3 years and put a significant strain on crossmembers and pickets. If the posts stay longterm, then fencing members last longer. A metal post costs $27 (including the metal brackets) and a 4x4 is about $9. The other difficult aspect of using a 4x4 post is that the crossmembers are screwed into the 4x4, and over time that connection wants to fail. All in all, from what I've installed and seen around neighborhoods, fences with metal posts last longer, and they are only $18 more per post. A significantly better fence for not a lot of money.
Very interesting indeed. Thanks for the tip! Plus, then you can use your magnetic level ;)
Looks amazing
Great video! What's your recommendation if you don't have a saw to cut the pieces to size? Measure them and have them cut at the store before bringing home?
Do you have description, (or what size) , link for lag bolts you used for the rails? thx.
Any tips for corners using the metal posts? Do they have a bracket for it?
Are you using the same hole's
Nice to see a fence installed with good side facing your property and not the neighbor
That is the wrong way.
In many areas, the zoning REQUIRES finished side to face out, meaning your side looks at the posts.
@@mrc1062 Its better this way so neighbors can't climb on the boards and look over.
Where can I find the Breaker Bar? I can't find it anywhere.
Would you recommend metal fence post?... probably last longer than 4x4s huh?
I bought a home and I plan in doing all the fence around back.. I dont have experience so I will be trying something out new.. any recommendations in changing a fence?? How long will it take to replace a whole yard fence??..
I replaced 90 feet of fencing in 2 days by myself. That included removing the old fence, fence posts, setting new posts and completing the fence construction.
@@EngineeredWoodworkingandDIY interesting thank you for that
Music bugging me but
I dig the fence design and tips.
Nice fence, enjoying your videos, not enjoying that background music at all.
Loving music in background!! Makes video fun!
U must be a grandpa 👴 lol
I swear this is such a turn on to watch a man work (efficiently also 😍). Nice fence during end results. He made it look so easy. I was surprised to see nails in my fence and ended up having to put screws in them to stop the boards from coming off due to the wood swelling, then shrinking due to changing Temps. Fyi, The builders did this way before I moved to my home. Just weird.
In my opinion, I like seeing deck screws in a fence instead of nails. If a board ever needs to be replaced you don't have to pry it off but unscrew it, remove old board, then screw on new board. 👍
Why wouldn't you mix the concrete, for even consistency, outside of the post hole? A wheelbarrow or bucket for example.
Thought the same thing.
The mix gets just as strong if you mix properly in the post hole. Mixing outside the post hole works, it's just more work.
Why not use screws for the slats? I get it: nail gun is faster/easier. What about warping slats pulling out the nails? And great vid. Metal posts...great idea!
I used ring-shank nails which have ribs on them to resist pull-out.
What are the dimensions of the poles? What are they called and where can I find them?!? Please help!!

@@EngineeredWoodworkingandDIY what brackets do I need to go with these metal post?
Does that technique work for steel posts too?
If you are referring to breaking up the concrete in the ground around a steel post, then yes, you can use a breaker bar in that scenario as well.
Thanks for posting dude but the new age music needs to go
Looks like you left the "ugly side" for your neighbor. Is that correct?
You don' t mention why you use metal posts instead of wood. I would like to hear your reasoning. thanks.
I like to use metal posts because wood posts aren't always straight or they'll warp in the Texas heat. Also, metal posts require bolted connections which don't loosen over time. Next time I have to redo this fence, I won't have to touch the metal posts.
Other than that gd video
Hate the music and it is way to loud in the end of the video. Over all nice video. I just subscribed
Do it yourself, visit the Woodglut website and find out how.
Back round music distracting AF
So annoying to hear the music while your try to learn
