Just built something similar and something to consider is the cost of staining the fence is insane. I did this instead of a pvc fence because I wanted to save some Money but to stain both sides it was another $800 to the cost. Unless your planning on letting your hard work turn grey something to consider if your budgeting this project.

The one thing I don't see anymore nowadays for wooden fences, is white picket fences, or any painted fence. Everything is bare wood or stained. I like the look of a painted fence to match the house. Unpainted wood fences I think in my area just fell out of fashion for some reason.

The only issue with using treated 2x4 as railing you’re going to end up with alot of warped and twisted rails. As a professional, I like to sell my customers pre stained sections already assembled. Pre assembled sections will hold up longer. From experience.
