The book provides clear illustrations ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO diagrams that cover many of the essential topics. The projects at the end of the book are valuable for enhancing your skills and creating your own furniture. A digital platform linked to the book that could offer the plans for other woodworking projects with the cut sheets would have been a nice addition, but overall, the book is excellent.
I love the 2 mountain views of your backyard.
🤣
CANNOT thank you enough for posting this video. I recreated the fence EXACTLY how you did , step for step and my yard looks amazing. Literally my first DIY project and I couldn’t be happier or feel more satisfied!!!
How much did it end up costing?
How long did it take?
It took me about two weeks. On and off work between me, my brother, son and father-in-law. Keep in my we don’t have any experience like this
Cost me about 4K total
2:52 Pro tip -- put half of the water in the mixer before adding the first bag 👍
7:55 While filling the screw holes is a nice touch, having them, particularly on a fence, is totally fine (imho) and it allows you to easily replace the trim boards in 5 or 10 years. One way to to make them prettier is to drill a pilot hole, countersink and stain before setting the screws. You could do this as part of the original prep (cut to length, stain).
That said, very nice!
Awesome job! One thing that maybe others have mentioned about the lights. Always leave the bottom of anything with sealant open so if water were to find its way behind the lights it could easily drain out the bottom. Probably not a huge deal in your case but something to keep in mind.
This is great. Just designed my deck railing and you solved a lot of problems I was grappling with.
The fence looks awesome and does go with your house well. My personal preference when hanging lights like that on a post or wall is to caulk only the top and two sides. That way, if water does manage to get behind the light somehow, it can run out the uncaulked bottom. Credit goes to This Old House for that method.
WOW! What a beauty! And the fence is nice too.
Yeah! He must work out
I think you are being influenced by her ( . Y . )

🙄 cringe.
When mounting something like the solar light where you do not want to trap water - it's better to leave the bottom open / unsealed. This allows any water that may get trapped unexpectedly to escape. Very nice fence!
Great job. Wish you had provided a material cost breakdown, there's a lot of material in this build and you saved so much money doing it yourself. My motto, if I can physically do, try it and if I fail then call in the experts. I wish you had also provided how long each step took like digging your holes, cementing the post, attaching the rails, etc. Gives the clueless and Idea of who to schedule their time. In my youth I would schedule 1 day for an activity, now at 60 I schedule 2 to 3 days.
The word expert seems to be subjective these days. There's a lot of slop-artists out there claiming to be experts, but aren't. I tend to do most things myself because I just don't trust people to do the job right anymore. Some contractors show up, and look like they don't even want to be there, and they tend to treat your home like "just another job".
Before ever putting a hammer to nails people should respect the clients' homes, and put that respect, and care into the projects. If it's one thing I can't stand it's cutting corners. Do the job right the first time, and you'll never get call-backs.
Great video, always enjoy the thorough breakdown and video angles provided of the installations.
Beautiful! I just started a similar (but much smaller) project at home and your video was sooo helpful! Thank you so much for posting.
It's already done, but... and DAMHIK!
1. when you spray, place a "layer" of boards on the ground, then a sticker laid perpendicular, then the boards you want to color. Then any overspray goes onto boards you can use later. Better yet (though I realize this is a sponsored vid so you want to highlight your sponsor's tools) use a roller to apply stain. It will be faster, waste far less and you won't need a respirator.
2. Predrill screw holes in the post a little smaller than the root diameter of the screws first. It'll be much easier on your tool, your arm, and though slightly slower overall, you won't lose screws if/when they run into a knot in the post, and the screw head strips. I hate stripped screws, there's nothing to do but reverse the drill, take 'em out and waste them.
3. Sure doesn't look like you get much if any rain there, but paying attention to waterproofing, ESPECIALLY ON EXPOSED END GRAIN, and where the post meets the ground, are good ideas.
4. You don't mention the gap distance between horizontal members. Looks like .... ummm.... one inch? IDK
5. 2x6 or 2x8 is expensive and likely unnecessary for the horizontal members. 1x lumber would do the job with posts 8' o/c.
Looks like tools are all battery powered (?) so what is pneumatic? Suspect I know the answer but can you confirm?
Nice modern design. Smart to provide spacing rather than stockade. Filling the holes seemed like overkill but appreciate the attention to detail.
To make boring the holes easier use a 4" auger first then the 8". Having drilled thousands of fence posts it makes a huge difference in hard ground
liked the video, sealing behind the lights was a cool idea, I must remember to do that next time. Cheers.
The brown boards, and black trim look pretty good together... 🤙👍
I love the DAP plugs 😂. Also I like the level after screwing the post to the block wall. No treated lumber is a bold move cotton.
Great design and construction of that fence.
Looks great. Especially like the 1x4 post coloured trim pieces and staggered 16 footers.
You can never have too much DAP. Nice work. Looks great!
The fence looks fantastic-great work!
Nice job but like to see into future endeavors even pressure-treated or untreated if you would use tar or maybe or even flex seal product if you would spray or put the tar to the exposed wood under the cement your fence post would last 50 times to 75% longer I just say that because I've learned from families on farms to put up a lot of post 👍👍👍
Came out great! You guys make a great team!
A corden steel cap would tie in nicely. Wouldn’t quite work here in Co, but it does look nice. Well done.
Not seen any of your content for ages! Really glad RUclips let me see this one 😊
When Bryce cut the posts to length I was thinking to myself brother knows what he's doing. And then you told about his past and where he got those skills. I'm impressed
All you need are a couple of large outdoor pots with Bougainvillea to travel along the fence if it’ll grow out there. Would also make a great spot for planter boxes.
For what its worth - the Graco sprayers are not meant to handle stains - only paint; I broke mine (luckily they replaced it) by spraying a Thompsons Water Sealer stain through it on my last project. I noticed you had switched spray guns in your vid so in the off chance it stopped working, that is why you probably ran into issues. Sweet fence!
Both of the airless sprayers they used were Graco. There is no reason not to spray stain with the larger style airless sprayers, from the small electric units to the big gas powered ones and the air powered one I also have. I have not used the cordless ones but would assume they use a small piston and similar seals to a full size airless. They are fine for oil, water, lacquer, or shellac based products.......I have sprayed them all as a pro. The only issue would be with residue from past coatings or the current coating not being cleaned out completely. My uncle, also a pro, kept one small airless just for lacquer since it is a strong solvent that can pick up any left over paint residue from inside hoses or hard parts. Some products can be rinsed with water, but then need solvent ran through to get the residue. What was their reason for stain damaging the sprayer?
I really like how it matches the beautiful house! Nice curb appeal!
Looks nice. Doing my own this next summer for our dog. Some good ideas!
It looks great and very straightforward, we’ll probably do this on our property, thanks.
The gate looks beautiful I love your videos
Pro tip. If you turn your circular saw around and cut in the proper direction, with the larger part of the shoe sitting on the part of the wood that you are not cutting off, then you'll have a straighter cut, since the saw will not be wobbling while you are cutting. At the 5:55 min mark, you can see what I am talking about.
Great video! I just realized you guys are in AZ too! So you understand about the heat and the wind, delicate plants and all hehe, thanks for the inspiration!
Great work there guys...and gal....and i like the junkyard, especially the older trucks..
That fence looks awesome. You went to far more trouble than any contractor I know would have. Especially covering up the screws on the cover strips.
So glad i found this video. I am planning to build this ki d of fence in my small gatden. Thank you.
Great idea, fence looks great!!!
Wow! Fantastic job! ❤❤❤
Exactly the detailed information I was looking for. Thank you.
Beautiful!!! I'll use this design for my fence project 😍
Totally loving it...wasn't sure as you explained yet it's Beautiful!
Thank you… Thank you… this looks so amazing!
Great looking fence. I like the design
Beautiful!
Amazing work. Beautiful
I drive by you house often, absolutely love the design and architecture of your home! Love the fence too!
Not at all creepy
@@Idontknowmaybejohnsmith Considering it's a busy highway - No. However only a creep would have a username like yours.
@@Idontknowmaybejohnsmith and the name you chose to use isn't? The more dementia the better right?
Weirdo
@Alanmacer Why am I a weirdo? Someone posts videos of the outside, and inside of their home that is a one of a kind design you dont think someone is going to notice it in real life? Because I live in the same area as they do, happen to drive by the home....as it is RIGHT on a major road and I am a weirdo? Get bent.
Excellent job!!
I like those small solar powered lights look so cute :D
Simple, modern, nice design
I didn't see a link or a product name for your paint sprayer. Would you mind sharing?😊
Looks great thanks for posting this it’s been really helpful. . Is it possible to do this fence with no fence gaps or smaller ones for total privacy . Will water be able to stagnate?
Very cool, never thought about going a full 16ft across, going to consider that when I build my next fence. Nice job. :)
Great Job guys, I suggest that you can plant date palm trees along the fence. I believe it is suitable for your location because your neighbors already had one big date palm tree.
That turned out amazing!
Looks really nice!
She's cute ❤ and has a soothing voice
I just wanted to say I love you channel, and your work ethics, I really wish my wife was as handy as you. I've tried, trust me I've tried, the last 29yrs. She doesn't like manual labor/work. So it's always me doing everything myself.
I completely Love your hard hands on work
Bless you
Excellent work as always
Nice fence! It’s beautiful
Great job, very beautiful
Great cans for sure ❤❤❤❤
Love the project, and it is inspiration for our fence up here in MN...
A safety thing you should follow:
When working with concrete, you should really wear a mask... Silicosis is nasty business.
This video brings back so many memories. Whenever my Dad embarked on a project he would always recruit his sons (me included) to help. We didn't have a cement mixer, so he would get me to mix the cement in a wheelbarrow with concrete, water and sand. I got pretty good at it for a grade school kid. I remember getting it to a consistency like butter which made it easy for my Dad to build walls, our fireplace, brick garden enclosures, etc. I loved helping my Dad make our house more beautiful. Great video, thanks!
Looks great I like it way more than traditional wooden fences
Wow that is a fence.
I like the fencing a lot!
One day I would find the “the vertical fence” from ground to the sky!
Super nice. Thank you.
Te quedó perfecto!!! Bacanazo!!
Great fence!
What has been the measurements for the wood and type of wood please.
love your hair style blue 🤘🤘
Nice job! I am thinking of doing something similar to create shade, the AZ sun can be brutal.
Very nice looking
Great job! May I ask what type (brand) of lights are those? I'm looking for some for my fence the last ones I ordered don't put out much light.
Very good thanks ❤❤
Really looks great!
Love that fence, I need it. I am curious about the missing fence armor to keep water from being permanently stuck in the wood embedded in the concrete, and why also you didn't use pressure treated posts. But from the thumbnail it did look like metal posts, good job.
huge indeed
Would it been a good idea to paint the cut side of the caps before install?
Looks like east Mesa. I got those nasty stink net weeds growing everywhere too
Damn that fence looks amazing. I always questioned whether a horizontal wood fence would last or warp. I'm just thinking of the long runs of wood with water standing on top. My Victorian home had a subtle point cut into the porch railings. I wonder if a slight pitch could be cut into the wood with a table saw.
Omg what a beautiful yard! Awwww ya ok that's not what I noticed my eyes focused at em the beautiful ummm ya...😁😳💕💕👍
Fantastic job, all the way from Australia
Wow nice job!!! You've just inspired me!
The caliche here in my neighborhood down in Tucson is so hard, workers needed to use jackhammers to dig footers for my neighbors veranda extension
I'd love to build something like this, with a gate, to close off the area where my A/C unit is (on the side of the house, in the backyard). However, the house's concrete foundation extends out further than the walls and is about 12 inches beneath the soil.. I tried driving a spike down into the ground near the wall and found out the foundation was there. Any suggestions on how to create an anchor point that butts up against the house but can't be buried into the ground?
Beautiful nice job
I can watch you work all day 😍
I like that shape very much.
Miracle of modern surgical enhancements!!
Good job. I also like to know how much in total you guys have spent on the fence.
Good Saturday morning Pneumatic Addict. Excellent video with superb production values. Your fence construction skills out there in the desert are absolutely impeccable. But that's to be expected from a strong and talented self sufficient offgrid woman such as yourself. Thanks for sharing. - and have a wonderful weekend. 😍
Looks great
I just put a vertical up and now I see this and it looks so..CLEAN! 😭I should've gone with this.
Wow. Very aesthetic.
Yeah I gotta get one of those cordless sprayers. You sold me.
looks great!
Bondo is the best wood patch or filler for wood, it never cracks or shrinks
