@@kbanghart its really cool. ben is like "digging my own grave am ded" and MIB is like "dude i went down to the other beach and you weren't there lol".
Well he didnt exactly say no, Illana gave him a second chance so he didnt have to go to Locke and his motives behind joining him at the barracks are unclear as he is tempted by the idea of being in charge of the island though he also seems to have been trying to help the others escape. Thats what makes his character so great, his motives arent always clear.
Josh Wheeler fair point however Ben reveals to Illana the only reason he’s going to Locke is because “he’s the only one who will have him”. So in essence he doesn’t believe Locke when he offers him power - he just knows he’s the only one who won’t kill him (at the moment). So he isn’t doing it for the promise that Locke is offering (as he did to so many others) but purely because he had no real option.
spoiler alert: .. .. .. .. .. Imagine ben's surprise/ stunning when FLocke (Fake Locke) actually tells him that Desmond (having escaped the well) will help him... ... .. destroy the island (6x11 i think) and then follows thru in the series finale. I think ben knew that he was being lied to but in this convo, not EVERY word of Flocke's is a lie.
I think most people figured it out already, but the reason "Locke" could break Ben free was because of electromagnetism, he can move metallic objects, for those who didn't get that.
@M4ttM3224 I never looked at his alliance in "What they Died For" as anything more than Ben ensuring his survival... Emerson said in an interview that Ben was counting the seconds till his inevitable death until MiB offered him a way out, and , naturally, the master liar was able to keep himself afloat a little longer.
@M4ttM3224 Well yeah, but Ben knew it was either "join" him or die, so he chose to follow him, but as we saw in the Finale he wasn't really with him, just preserving his own existence.
I think if they actually trusted MIB they wouldnt have died. they decided not to trust him and they all ended up dying on the island in the end. i dont think he was a bad guy at all...all he ever wanted was to leave the island and Jacob killed him for it.
MiB wanted to kill them. They were Candites, as long as they lived, he would not be able to leave the Island. Jacob killed him not because he wanted to leave the Island, but because he killed "Mother".
ben should have went with locke. if it wasnt for locke he wouldnt have been freed, and would have got shot. then again if it wasnt for locke he wouldnt be in that situation. or i guess miles is to blame
i disagree, i agree with ben 100% for killing jacob. if this was real and i was on the island, i would join locke definitely. except the whole getting of the island thing, i would like to live there, haha. i think it was the episode follow the leader, where locke described to ben why he should kill him, i loved his logic

Ben sassin Smokey who Ben has personally seen kill dozens of people like they're ants under his boots.

The force is strong in MiB.
I find it wonderfully ironic that, of all the main characters that Locke tried to recruit with lies, Ben was the only one to say no.

He's got a little bit of Magneto in him.
or the force (?
Which means you can beat him with a wooden gun.
I think most people figured it out already, but the reason "Locke" could break Ben free was because of electromagnetism, he can move metallic objects, for those who didn't get that.
I figured it was because he was a supernatural creature an all...
Thanks man. That explains how MIB was able to throw things around in the cabin
A Jedi Knight
Lockneto
@ThePartisan13 it's because he is a supernatural entity
Or better yet, he is channeling the island.
"Locke's" facial expressions to what Ben is telling him are too funny :D
I think he wanted Ben to shoot Ilana with the purpose of knowing if Ben would have been by his side, and also to corrupt him more...
When I think of Lost, I think of that eerie, scary, haunting violin music.
you're an awewome actor and keep up the great work able to transmute you in my meditation

I see what you did there
I really would like to know the extent of his power, and Jacobs for that matter.

I loved season 6 so much.

Fuuuuck I love this show.
Legendary.
just completed POI and I want more of michel emerson. Looks like to re watch lost.
1:22 MIB has the Force!

@M4ttM3224 Remember though, Smokey can influence people's behavior when he speaks to them, someone like Ben can be easily corrupted.
Actually Ben was the only one MiB didn't manage to trick, because Ben is extremely cunning.
I hate it to admit to myself but I'd be so gullible that I'd go with him. He was a master manipulator.
If this show was still on jack would be smokey and hurley would be jacob
zaandarbrow why
Now that would be interesting telly on paper at least.

Sounds like Smoke Monster isn't exactly a stealth form of transportation.
The intimidatlor though

Or.. you could just turn into a smoke monster and kill her?
Such ridiculous plot points in the later seasons
Nah, he likes getting people to do things themselves. Get them to turn on each other with a little push.
It's about corrupting Ben even further.
Jacob probably touched her.
