I love this scene so much. It's the apex of Jack's development: He's finally gone from the skeptic man of science to the main of faith, just like Locke all that time ago. It's fantastic.
Jack isn't the blind faith type Locke guy. Jack is more deductive reasoning leap of faith guy. He's a combo of faith and science. LOST's message (none to subtle either) is that there is NO 'v' there. It's NOT faith v science. It's faith AND science!
I love how Hurley says "no, I'm not going without you", he's so loyal to Jack throughout the entire show but it really stands out in the final episodes.

Jacob was stuck between 2 strong people, who wanted the exact opposite thing, his Mother and MiB, and he probably just wanted peace. Hurley was always stuck between Locke and Jack arguing exact opposite beliefs, and just wanted peace as well. With the Smoke Monster dead, and I assume that Darkness back with the Light now, Hurley can find balance for the Island.
I feel that even up to this point, as confident as he is, there's still a bit of doubt in Jack. When that fuse burns out..so did all the doubt. LOST is a damn treasure.

And he wasn't blacklisted, just selective. You can't complain about not seeing his stuff unless you actually go see it. I'm glad we all agree he is a terrific actor, though.
Jack has such a fearful but faithful glint in his eye. He's snapped at this point but for a good reason. He's finally getting it, but he still doesn't know what, so he's still afraid. That's why he looks so unstable here and it's great acting on Matthew's part.

This show taught me to be cautious, so when the camera went to the Jack face after the fuse extinguished at 2:36 I swear I thought that after 'You wanna try another st..." there will be an explosion which will unexpectedly kill Jack midway through the final season. The camera angle was too dangerous looking.
I love Richards face there, after the fuse goes out. He's like... Wtf. of course, he really shouldn't be surprised at the information Jack just came up with, after all Richard had been given powers to live well beyond his normal natural lifetime.
John’s purpose was to make Jack a man of faith. This was so when Jacob died, Jack could kill the smoke monster. Jack’s purpose was to get rid of the monster and pass it to the man who was destined to care about people better than anyone, Hurley, aka King Hugo, Reyes litteraly means king.
Hugo was the perfect choice. On rewatches it's kinda obvious he's the number 1. I still think Mr Eko was a good character for joining in though,, Ben makes sense being number 2 but Mr Eko would have been a good Alpert replacement.
2) Confirmation of this scheme bigger than everything that he ever imagined, when he is confronted by the mirror in the Lighthouse. And that's why we see him so possessed; actually he still kept a lasting remain of skepticism, that was destroyed at last. Season 1, Episode 23 "Exodus": Jack: I don't believe in destiny. John: YES you do! You just don't know it yet. It took a while but Jack stopped living in denial and accepted his destiny in season 6 and in this scene, specifically.
Also, a great echo of this was when Jack was willing to detonate an atomic device and was trying to persuade Sawyer. Sawyer says, "I don't speak destiny, Doc!"
Gives me serious chills this scene, top 3 in the whole show. It’s the realisation of everything he and Locke clashed heads over and Jack’s finest moment so far - he now truly believes they were brought to the island for a reason. The soundtrack here is also absolutely phenomenal.
Richard is WRONG. He HAD a purpose in his life but he didnt see it, his purpose was to live long enough to make up to the misstake he made before, killing a man wich would lead Richard to hell. Thats why Jacob made and understod Richards and acsepted that but Richard still couldnt understand that after all these years that he made good descitions for Jacob

They can only so much before things fail. and then the loops starts again. and every time it loops. They work their way to further their goal.Jack must have died a lot of times and Jacob found away to keep Jack alive by rigging this specific dynamite so that it won't explode no matter how much anyone tried. For every loop is another chance I believe.

It was because of Jack. One, the island's protection doesn't mean someone literally cannot be killed. The protection is not unconditional, there's ways around it. Second, even knowing that, by the time he did die, he had completed his job by saving the island.
The scene contradicts the events on the submarine. Fact, black smoke can't kill them BUT they can kill themselves. Just as Sawyer sped up the countdown on the bomb by interfering, here Jack SELF set fire to the dynamite. Finally, the dynamite should explode. Another absurdity in the world of Lost.
For people talking about jack becomming the "man of faith" his faith is not to be confused with reasoning. He puts 1 + 1 together and makes a prediction on what probably will happen, based on what already happened and what he observed. thats actually the contrary to faith, because faith is baseless, vague and has no reasoning behind it.

All the seasons were fantastic, but i think season 5 is not that good. I like fantasy, how mysterious the island is, but Time Travel doesnot fit on the serie
I like how we got to see all of the moments we heard little bits and pieces of but would otherwise never see. I also like how James became a great leader and a good man, with help from Juliet.
This show, TV in general, and the Walking Dead was especially bad in this regard - they make it seem like a piece of cake to dig a grave, when it is incredibly hard work. Nobody is digging a big hole as easily as they do on screen.

lost is in a league of its own. theres no other show that produces scenes with this much tension every episode. not even breaking bad.

This was a very good show... Except for season 6, and 5, also 4, not to mention 3, oh and 2. The seasons that i didnt mention were the best though
