From my experience with people who own peacocks they never had fences or clipped the wings, they actually always came back (not that you should risk them getting hurt) but I’ve always found it cool that they actually know where their home is.
Also they naturally shed their feathers so you can collect the long tail feathers and I personally find their neck feathers to be not only a beautiful iridescent blue/green/purple colour, but also a very interesting shape!

Should really handle the peachicks more. Or they're gonna become some mean birds. Unsocialized peacocks are jerks. :c Also with the jelly melon, yeah it wasn't ripe. Have to wait till they're about yellow/orange in color. And inside you only eat the goo, not the seeds/ect. It's pretty good when ripe, especially on toast!

My work sells those jelly melons/horned melons/ the African horned cucumber/ kiwano. It has many names, but it's mostly known as kiwano. Their ripe when yellow orange, but they can be eaten at any stage. You usually eat the goo but the skin and seeds can be eaten as well. You can eat them as is or place them in salads or mixed in yogurt or juiced them. They can be made into a sherbert with Pinapple s and bananas or it and oranges, or a watermelon, strawberry kiwano juice. Or can make a nice beef sauce or dressings with them. Can even make them in waffles. Just look for kiwano recipes.

They would probably make a yummy exotic jelly that you could sell at your farmers market. Our local farmers market has all kinds of different jams and jellies made with strange combinations of fruits and vegetables. And they are good. As always your family is so much fun to watch. Years ago some people who lived close to my papaw had a peacock, and occasionally they would put a tether (looked like a piece of thin fabric ribbon) around one leg so he could get out and strut around with his tail feathers all spred out. I live on our family farm in NC. My great uncle loved raising peacocks as a hobby. They were pretty much free range & you’d see them all over the place. As a kid it was such a treat coming across the tail feathers when walking around, had a nice collection. Sadly, he passed in the 80’s. But we’ve still got a wild flock of the peacocks that migrated into the farm woods. Amazing how good they are at avoiding predators like coyotes, foxes, etc. My home is about 1/2 mile away & takes me back down memory lane to hear them calling in the evenings. I get a kick out of visitors hearing them & trying to figure out what tha heck it is😂 Just found your channel clicking around YT & subscribed, marathon watching, great job!

That fruit you opened at 7. It’s native to my country. We call it a Kiwano here and it’s ripe when it turns a bit soft and at times it turns an orange color. We have it exactly like it is and swallow the seeds. It’s perfect for people who want to stay hydrated but aren’t really into drinking water. Farmers here even offer the fruit to livestock during the dry months. I’m from Namibia 🇳🇦😊

We have people in town that have peacocks that are free to wander... They don't go in the road when cars are coming... Another family has free range chickens, they live on the highway, & the chickens go to their house when cars come.
I've seen many parks, zoos, etc. have peacocks wandering loose. I've seen the make low flights too, so doubt they're clipped.
It would be kewl to see more of the pea chicks, & would be good for them to be handled more too. I know they're older now, but it's still good to spend time with them, so they bond and feel comfortable around humans.

My suggestion for the flying duck is Sally (for Sally Ride, the first American woman in space.) As for the jelly melon as well as letting it ripen, could you cook it with some cornstarch and maybe a bit of sugar and then use it as jam, or a sauce on icecream or maybe in a smoothie.

Not sure where you are from if you eat fried green tomatoes but they are really good you coat them with self rising flour and fry them... you can make a sort of eggplant parm but use the fried green tomatoes instead of eggplant...I swear it is really good and a way you can use all those green tomatoes .I like to use alfredo sauce as the green tomatoes have a tartness that goes well with cream sauce.but fried green tomatoes are good all on their own

What you call a jelly melon is called "magake" here in Zimbabwe. Not sure of the spelling, or if it's the same thing, but it's also referred to as a wild cucumber. When I ate it, the taste did remind me of a cucumber, it grows wild here. Awesome videos. I really enjoy watching this channel.

Questions: Do all of the costs and time attached to raising chickens give much of a return on the investment itself, or do you need to be a massive chicken farm to be able to make much money to survive on? Clearly your chickens, their feed cost, time and effort etc. have an overall cost to them. Selling the eggs and then later the meat, can you make enough money to survive on? How many chickens would a professional chicken farmer need to have to be able to live off of from the returns from sale of eggs and meat? How many chickens would be enough to provide for an average sized family on a farm? Probably a lot!
Thanks in advance for your reply! I know you cannot provide an exact number, but a ballpark figure would be great to know!

Hi.. I got some information from an Indian Peacock owner. You can tell the difference between a Male and Female Peacock by observing the growth of crown on their head. There is a difference in the crown.. Female ones are very straight with circular feathers on top. While male one have more slanting head crowns. Later the male develops the classic blue green color feathers on neck. This is the case with Indian peacocks breeds. Hope this helps. 👍

+Gadget Guide - thanks! Already seeing some blue-green colors starting to appear on the bigger one's neck today!

I'd eat a horned melon in a smoothie or with some gelatin and strawberry after filtering the seeds.
Also to my knowledge, Peacocks don't fly very far but they will wander and can be pretty aggressive. And if either or both of them are male, they will shed their tail feathers a few times a year like a tree that dropped all it's leaves at once. I think it was two times year.

I wonder if you are aware of how loud peacocks are. The farm about a good half mile from ours has a few and they shriek all summer long. He keeps them contained more in winter so we get a break, but ugh, even though the feathers are nice nothing would convince me to take them on. We are retired so we are down to just having chickens and pet donkeys on our farm and wild geese and blue herons are daily visitors, some even over wintering. Good luck with your farm. It is looking fine and reflects your hard work and dedication.
