I always thought cats were much more human-like in their behavior, or at least much more like people I want to be around to and myself. I'm rather puzzled when someone can't read a cats mood, they are so expressive. Some say cats are like autistics
Real animal lovers keep their cats indoors. Working farm cats are perhaps an exception, since pest control is needed. Suburbanites who let their cats outside unsupervised are hell for native wildlife.
Glad to see that you regularly feed your barn cats. Regularly feeding helps keep them safe. Hunger and a lack of nearby prey can lead to them foraging farther and farther out, making them vulnerable to coyotes and other predators. With a full tummy, they will still hunt, but will stay closer to home. Cats will hunt to eat, but they also hunt just because they enjoy the thrill of the chase.
They are integral to farms and to Disneyland too. They have around 200 cats and they have the same job. Just imagine how much food ends up on the ground at a theme park. If they didn’t have cats the rodents problem would be insane. Live all your babies. ❤️
Yes disneyland! To funny that's where I grew up. We made a game every weekend to find a cat if we did we would sneak it a piece of fish after years it seemed they would find us fast forward years later I have earned the title snow white every where I go cats just seek me out I mean EVERYWHERE to the point I carry treats and food in my car!
Its so nice to hear Fozzy became the alpha, considering he was picked on at his old farm when you took him in. He has really blossomed! I enjoyed hearing about the different personalities and hunting skills.
Yeah he's pretty cool. There's so much more to his story, I can't even remember if I shared or not. I think this summer he needs an entire origin story video.
My cats must come in at dark. At night, the mountain lions and bobcats are on the prowl and they don't fool around. All neighborhood dogs and cats come inside and can't go back out till the morning light.
This DOES depend upon the neighborhood. Cats of all kinds love freedom, and independence. If there are no predators, I do let the cat out for 4-6 hours to hunt. Mice, after all, are most active in the wee hours of the morning, maybe 2 - 5 am. Coyotes and owls are rare in the Willamette Valley, and these are the most concerning of night-time predators. Mountain lions do hunt in the day, and an eagle may carry a cat or small dog away.
Love the video. We have two working cats. We don't own a farm, but we have a piece of land of 850 square meters on the water side close to the forest. Before we had the cats it was full of mice, moles, rats, mole rats and we even had a nest of pine martens in the shack. In winter most of the rodents would move into the house which was a nightmare especially in the cellar. After some reading and realising cats were domesticated as pest control, we decided to get some cats. Two brothers. We gave the cats a home base in the cellar of the house. It's where their seats are, and their toys. We also gave them access to the shack so they can get in by themselves. I trained them to do a morning walk each morning visiting the cellar of the shack (did it with them for weeks, now they do it without me). I taught them to come home when I whistle. Just start whistling when you give the food and eventually change the tune to something loud and they will come when you do so. I never was a cat person, I used to love dogs. But I'm blown away by how awesome these creatures are. The only rodents I see these days are ones that have been caught. No moles in the garden anymore (just rarely) and the pine martens decided to raise their children somewhere else where they don't get morning visits from cats. Fantastic animals.
Common theme on farms if you don't want rats and mice destroying what you've worked to create. I gave cats I rescued to a guy who owns a 30 acre farm. They still live there and work on his farm.
Same 😂 When we first moved to our new apartment, we had a couple of them. My cat hunted them and left them on the floor once they stopped moving for me to clean up.
My childhood collie-samoyed's lady love was an Old English sheepdog named Curly. Folks lined up to take the puppies. Not nearly as fluffy as either parent (and NOT curly) but as well behaved and loving. Curly was a delightful dog.
I think you may have blotted your copybook with Bubbles. Runts often have congenital heart troubles which adds to a nervous disposition, so they are easily scared and don’t forgive easily. If you have time, I recommend just sitting quietly with her every day, don’t move, don’t try to grab her, don’t look at her, just be totally still and non threatening, and eventually she will come to you. I know it works because I have a little black and white fluffy barn cat runt too!! I loved seeing the cats, you are doing a great job taking care of them and helping them live the best life a cat could have. Roaming all the space, expressing their natural instincts, but cared for and loved too. Great job! ❤❤❤
We've had barn cats for decades. Warm, happy, well fed barn cats hunt better! Who doesn't want to see a happy animal. These cats look beautiful. They get to do what they do best. My pet cat who comes in at night, is well fed and vaccinated, has been out in a patch of tall grass all morning, 4 hrs now, waiting for a vole to come out of a hole.
Cats are VERY intelligent creatures. They make entertaining housemates. Respected and secure cats have the opportunity to let their goofy out to play. I raise mine pretty much like I do my dogs. Good manners a must. They know what no means and come when called. I talk to them and they answer me. They know how loved they are and I know how lucky I am to have had such AWESOME felines in my life. Last two were siblings, Murphy and Molly. It was a privilege to be their caretakers for all those years. Beloved knuckleheads!
Those are some very nice looking cats! Healthy. Until you get several together you just don't realize how different head shape, bone structure, fur can be in cats. M&M had nearly identical markings and kinked tails. NOTHING else about them was the same. He was a love hound and she was as catty as a cat can get. She had decided as a kitten that my son was her special human. She was more strict about his bedtime than I was. 💕
This is sucha genius way to observe them in their natural environment instead of just filming inside houses being spoiled. This is a really nice change for them
I never get tired of cats. No matter what color size or breed. I absolutely loved every minute of this video. This is what true content is all about!!❤
I adopted a stray tuxedo female 8yrs ago. She monitors our historic apartment building like a custodian! She's the expert mouser. She doesnt kill them. She holds them until I collect them. She also protects baby birds when they fall out of their nests. She alerts like a dog too. She was about 6 yrs old when she found me. You have a wonderful group of them! There names are adorable!
Things I learned about all animals and each part they play having a farm blows My Mind! God made them to help us, protect us and our food and to teach all the Forms of LOVE! It’s beautiful perfection. We all need land to be truly happy!
Thank you for locking your cats at night! I hope more farmers go to shelters and get cats to work! Make sure to check the cats for ringworms since they eat mice. Great video!!
Having been in ranching most of my life there are 2 essentials for a successful ranch life. A good cow dog and a good barn cat, or rather 10 of them. We too considered them part of the family. Their health was always attended to.❤
Each cat plays a role as to what they want to do. Like yours, mine monitor the security of the house indoors, check deliveries and visitors that are outside as well as inside.

Cats are amazing and your cats are beautiful. Growing up, we had a horse ranch with ~ a dozen horses. We had a rat and mice problem and adopted several cats. Actually, a mother and her ~6-month-old kittens showed up and adopted us, especially the horses. The horses really were affected by the rodents with bites and scratches on their legs. Within a week, the mice were noticeably less. An adult Tom showed up who was friend or family, and with the mom, wiped out the rats. Currently, they have a large cat house within the stable. The horses truly love them. Our two livestock guardian dogs love them. We love them.
Great to see cats that, although they are working, are loved and cared for by their human servants. I have been owned by several cats over the last 30 years, and I am glad they allow me to room with them.
Wonderful video! I grew up on a ranch in Alberta and yes we always had the Working Barn cats and then the house cats who slept in our bedrooms. You're right CATS are amazing creatures! Independent yet still Love attention and affection. They are BRILLIANT and will wait for hours to catch prey like your MAGGIE MAY was about to do. I took care of a feral colony here in Toronto and eventually domesticated 240 of them to be homed. Once we got them caught vaccinated and neutered they had a week to recover back at our place and once they came to and got use to food a bed and warm place to sleep without fear of the Coyote or owls to catch them. Only 4 choose to go back out into the wild. That was almost 20 years ago and I still have one of the 5 I kept. She looks like a Palace Cat or raccoon and was a the best Mommy cat I'd ever seen. So once I had taken all her friends she was easy to catch with a litter of 20. She has out lived the 4 kittens I had of hers. I love your Pride of Working cats and all the profiles you shared. Don't know if you already have any naturally growing on your property. But catnip is a great treat for them to have around to munch on. It's in the mint family so it grows around Southern Ontario. I have found it along the trails. I did see a slot for Catnip seeds at Canadian Tire seed display last year but it was empty. I dug up the small patch in the way of the massive construction happening in the lot near me. Thankfully it gave our Hawkeye one of Mommy cats kittens who would have been 18 last month. He got great joy out of going over to eat a few pieces of the catnip before he passed on New Year's Eve afternoon 2023. I was grateful I'd brought it home for them. He and his other siblings loved catnip. Mommy cat not at all. She is like a Margaret Thatcher type! Bwahahah.. Anyway I rattled on enough here. I really appreciate your video and did subscribe. My son sent me this video because he LOVES cats too. Hawkeye was his special buddy. We both still really miss Hawkeye our Ginger Boy! Teddy was his nickname! Okay I'm off. Looking forward to more of your Cat and Farm life videos! 🎉💞🐈 I

I absolutely love what you did. Cats are the best always. I wish you and your cats all the best. Love it! ❤
I like how Fozzy has a watch on his right paw, he’s so dedicated.
The manager, the executive even...we want Fozzy as the Mayor!!!!
They are integral to farms and to Disneyland too. They have around 200 cats and they have the same job. Just imagine how much food ends up on the ground at a theme park. If they didn’t have cats the rodents problem would be insane. Live all your babies. ❤️
Cool
For a theme park based on a cartoon rodent, that's pretty funny!
@@eric2500 Right!
Integral to breweries and distilleries as well!
Bless your farm. Cats are little miracles. It's great to see this little ragtag family of worker cats living the farm life.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I would love a deep dive on Fozzy!
really appreciate that you keep the cats indoors at night.
Cats are the best. I cannot exist without them. Yours have a great life! Thanks for loving and protecting them.❤❤❤
Love the video.
Cats are a crittical part of a working farm, thank you for showing them in their natural environment.
1:17 naming ANYTHING Dexter Morgan is DIABOLICAL 😅😂😂😂
It's over
Tango and Mango are the coolest duo of brother and sister names.
Pure AURA
Dexter is my all time favorite for his obedience and responsibility as a barn cat and a pet cat.
Yes he’s a great pal. He’s the only one that comes and hugs me for pets.
Cats are so loving, elegant and amazing! My three kitties protect one another and watch the house inside and out! 😻😻😻
I just watched a man herd cats.
What a world.
😂
I'll be even more impressed once he starts pulling teeth 😅
CHOOOOOONK!!!!!
Common theme on farms if you don't want rats and mice destroying what you've worked to create. I gave cats I rescued to a guy who owns a 30 acre farm. They still live there and work on his farm.
My mom does that too hehehe
That's cool that you feed them. Never believed in starving them, thinking that'll make them hunt more.
Yeah that is cruel and a misunderstanding of cats. Cats hunt for fun too unlike most animals so theyll kill whether theyre hungry or not.
Wow, didn’t know that was done- I don’t like that. , flashback to Ramsey Bolton’s ironic demise
cats mostly hunt for fun anyway
No amount of food is enough for cats XD
I could see cats being good workers because they don't just kill when they are hungry, but anytime something moves.
I'm afraid to fall asleep.
I have a fly free apartment. Thanks to my cat. 👍
Sky raisins. 😂😂😂
Flying Temptations with wings 😂@@stuart2006rats
When I first moved into my apartment for some reason spiders really liked to show up in my bathroom. My cat ate them all. Haven't seen any since.
Lizard free almost thanks to my cats.
Same 😂 When we first moved to our new apartment, we had a couple of them. My cat hunted them and left them on the floor once they stopped moving for me to clean up.
Once you get to know cats, you completely love them.. We had a cat in our family for 20 years-still miss her..
I miss my Precious also 😢
These kitties are loved...not neglected...not seen as disposable. I'm glad you take good care of them.
Deepest respect to you for caring so much about the welfare of your kitties.
My childhood collie-samoyed's lady love was an Old English sheepdog named Curly. Folks lined up to take the puppies. Not nearly as fluffy as either parent (and NOT curly) but as well behaved and loving. Curly was a delightful dog.
My big orange tabby male often brings his trophy rodents home. The other day i found two dead gophers in the flower bed. Good job Squatch.
Thank you for loving these cats so much and giving them a good life! ❤
Cats have saved ungrateful humans from starvation for thousands of years. Gorgeous animals ❤️
Why do they only save ungrateful humans?
back then they understood cat's value unlike now
they also save me from having a heart attack at seeing a rat.
It makes me sick to my stomach the way some people treat cats. It’s refreshing to see someone caring for animals.
Bro's an undercover cat
Great job! ❤❤❤
THANK YOU for being so KIND & LOVING to those cats! CATS ARE THE BEST PETS TO HAVE!!
Adorable cats, and you have a great singing voice!
Haha YES!!! 👏
Cats love adventures and exploration. These cats live a perfect lives.
Yeah it’s so cool to see them in their element outdoors living their best life
Cats are VERY intelligent creatures.
They are incredible pets and very good friends indeed.
We always hear about working dogs. Finally wweknow that there are working cats in the world. Thank yoy. Cats are the best
My cat caught 2 mice in my house and she was the happiest I've ever seen her. Better than all her petsmart toys.
I can tell when our cats catch an animal. They use a special vocalization for that.
This is sucha genius way to observe them in their natural environment instead of just filming inside houses being spoiled. This is a really nice change for them
It's not a farm without the barn cats!!! I've seen some of the most GORGEOUS barn cats....all cats are barn cats deep down....
Yay! Yay! Yay! It’s The Crew Day! I love them all so much! Hug each and every one for me please 😂
🤗
Things I learned about all animals and each part they play having a farm blows My Mind! God made them to help us, protect us and our food and to teach all the
Forms of LOVE! It’s beautiful perfection. We all need land to be truly happy!

Very well said 😊
Cats are a blast!
Them cats are certainly chunky.they look really happy milling round the farm
Cute cat videos are always nice, but this 'back to nature' perspective gives me a new respect for this beloved animal.
Glad you enjoy it 😀
Fozzy bear is a mega chonkster and i love it. The fact that he is the boss makes him even better. What an absolute unit of a cat.. god bless him
Thank you for locking your cats at night!
Their health was always attended to.❤
Your cats: "We love our job. We're working overtime." 🤣
This guy actually knows how to herd cats.
Jeez one talented guy!!!...
It isn't as easy as he makes it look. My cats ignore me when I call them.
Treats bags/containers work the best. Shake really hard right before u give them treats. They'll come running
Way to go Chunk! Nature at it's best. Much safer and greener than traps and poisons! ❤
Thanks catslover God loves jou there ,Amen
☺️
Cats are incredible and also misunderstood. You have no idea what a cat is until you bond with one, and the cat decides to show you who it truly is.
Fun, working wonders - these people and their cats ! 90 acres of pleasure sure sounds like a lot of excitement and a good bit of fun too ! Kudos !
Each cat plays a role as to what they want to do. Like yours, mine monitor the security of the house indoors, check deliveries and visitors that are outside as well as inside.
Yeah they’re so cool eh 😉
Awesome video Chad. I love your Barn cats and the cat cave you made for them. Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘

What a lovely story ❤ and such a better way to deal with rodents instead of poisons,
Nature provides all solutions 🌳 🌎
What happy, healthy and industrious cats! You’ve got a great team there protecting your land ❤Thank you for sharing ❤
Great to see cats that, although they are working, are loved and cared for by their human servants. I have been owned by several cats over the last 30 years, and I am glad they allow me to room with them.
Chunk norris in action! Cat had more kills than a call of duty lobby😂 what sweetheart😍

Always heart-warming to see animals being taken care of in the most natural way possible, and letting them live the life they want. Salute to your little workers o7.
getting all those cats in at the end of the day each day would drive me nuts.
They listen pretty good actually
It’s late September and I really should be back at school (well it’s March). Love Maggie ❤. She’s so cute. Love Dexter the way he hugs you to be petted.
