- I wanted to show you how i paint my latex masks. You can sponge paint latex masks, but it is much faster to use an airbrush. I use Monster Makers paints and a cheap airbrush from Harbor Freight.

Really cool seeing you hand painting this creepy clown! Good job!
Really cool seeing you checking out videos of smaller mask makers👍
Watching this video I was really surprised to see you did not have to thin out the paint at all! I heard things about monster maker paint and read reviews from people about it clogging up airbrushes a lot but you did not seem to have any trouble using it. Nice work and a lot easier then all the elaborate things I've heard you have to do to paint a latex mask! Thank you for the video!
+chrisc8141 No problem man. I have not have a problem with Monster Makers paint at all. I think it is pretty thin already, but you could always thin it down with ammonia if needed. I even use a cheap Harbor Freight air bush.
+Undercover Monsters I think were some might have run into a problem is not having the psi up high enough. You running at 60 psi is probably a good number for that paint. I think most of the people was running at around 35 or 40 psi which could have something to do with it.
The monsters latex paint is incredible!!
Really helpfull!!
I would definitely use this for my Michael myers masks
Great video! I use Monster Makers paints on all my masks. I use to work for them, they sell great mask making products for all your creature creations.
Dude that was AWESOME! You've really helped me out here, man. AND you've earned a subscriber! Cheers!
You are welcome, and thank you. I'm glad i could help you out.
Great job on the clown mask! Keep up the great work. That mask looks spooktacular good.
Love the few videos you have. Hope to see a Latex mask tutorial soon :)
Thanks, we plan on making a simple latex mask making tutorial. Most of them out there are either not very good quality or they don't explain things very clearly.
Love the ZEF tattoo, great video man helped alot
+Taylor Honeycutt Thanks :)
This helped a lot on my Michael Myers mask
thankyou so much for the tips and great content.
That help thanks
Thanks for an awesome tutorial. Question, I'm wanting to paint a latex bald cap that's rather thin and use the clown white that you started this tutorial with as a base paint. Once dry, how flexible do you think the paint would hold up? i.e. would it crack or have good "give" with latex? Also, plan to do a bit of make-up over top, clown white grease type make up products...would it adhere to the paint do you think? Thanks for any help.
What if I have a latex mask that I just want to paint all black? The mask is grey but I need it blacker.
Burn it
@@xititanix6990 Hey man to make your name one thing together just put a . as the last name and it won't show up so it can be just the.reaper.in.red
Very nice video, thank you! Does anybody know if you can cover this paint with regular (water based) face paint afterwards? I would love to blend my latex prosthetics with the painted faces I make
Awesome video man! How long would you let the "wash" of black paint dry before wiping it off? Thanks in advance!
This will help me a lot. Something I've noticed is that monster makers red is more like a dark pink. I wish they sold a darker red color..
love the video, and i had a question. Where would I be able to find and buy that rotating mask holder to spin and the mask?
great video I was wondering if there was a compresser that you would recommend that could spray latex paint that won't break the bank
thanks again
+EricSalt88 I got mine at a pawn shop, so i suggest checking there first. You really only just a compressor that will do 60 psi, that is what i use.
Hi !! great Work! 🤟🤟👏👏I would like to ask you for information, but what kind of solvent should you use after using latex-based colors with an airbrush? And how often (minutes) does the airbrush need to be cleaned while using color? does it need constant cleaning with the cleaner? Is any type of airbrush cleaner okay?
What would you use to make the entire thing glossy?
Just out of curiosity what kind of compresssor are you using? I saw some very good priced ones at Hrbor freight and was wondering if that is where it came from?
+chrisc8141 I actually got mine at a pawn shop. I believe it is a Craftsman.
Hey man quick question I have monster makers white mask paint but I also see they have a base paint is that for the base coat because my paint runs and doesn't do right man
Their mask paint is made to be airbrushed. You can alternatively use a sponge and sponge paint it. I've never used a base coat.
Does the white paint have a Matte finish or is it glossy?
U should do a video on how to make the mask.
Unfortunately, I don't have a compressor. Can the latex based paints be hand painted with a brush instead? Thanks in advance.
Is the Monster Makers Latex Mask paint basically the same as mixing acrylic paint and liquid latex?
Where would I be able to buy the makeup that you're using?
We’re did you find the sealer to buy??
If I wanted to repaint an already painted mask that I bought from a halloween store or something like that, would I have to do something special to the mask before hand or could I just apply new paint over the mask? Great video!
+Duncan Star-Boszko It would depend on the mask. A lot of masks have a clear coat on them and if that is so then it would be hard to paint over. But if it doesn't not have a top coat then you could just use this same method. Remember latex bonds to latex.
I'm using a Halloween store over the head latex/rubber mask to make a stationary statue using a clothing store mannequin armature and want it to look like granite. Do you see any problem painting it with ordinary spray paint? I've used latex primer, in the past, on rigid insulation in order to spray it with solvent-based spray paint without melting the rigid insulation, and am wondering if this same technique is necessary to paint the mask? Thanks so much for a very informative video.....I'll be hitting Harbor Freight soon, thanks to your great demonstration!
+akamoppy Possibly since you said it is stationary. If it were moving at all then i would say no because it would crack.
What is that you are using to clean you airbrush gun?
Trying make a latex mask all black what the best way to do it
does spray paint work?
I have a latex mask. I want to repaint it with flourescent paints and I want it to look matte, I suppose I should use matte finish? how can I remove the current paint on it now. thanks
+Christopher Engelman I'm not sure how to remove the paint. I would probably just paint over it with a base of white latex and go from there. Also, yes, use a matte finish or if you have perma-wet you the more water you add to it the more it loses it's sheen.
I'm planning on buying a latex mask and painting it. Will regular spray paint work?
No, do not use spray paint. It will make your mask extremely hard and the paint will chip off very easy.
will the paint crack or peel off after many years?
I need help. Whenever I add latex to the paint for use in an airbrush, no matter how thin I make it or how little latex I add, it clogs up my airbrush every single time. Is there another solution to adding latex to the airbrush paint mix?
+troy mccombs I talk about mixing latex with acrylic paint in the video. You can thin it down a little with amonia, or else just buy the monster makers paint. It is already thinned down and ready to spray.
how much latex did you use for your mask
Where can i get one of these masks
Great tutorial!
Two questions. 1. Would this technique work on say a rubber horse head? 2. if I was looking for a pinkish color to paint with. Do you think just mixing the red and white in a bottle would work?
+POP KULTURE (POPKULTURE) This should work just fine and yes you can mix paint to get whatever colors you desire.
I’m also trying to make a bojack mask. Thanks! I’m only 3 yrs late.
do u need special paint for latex
24:50 what is he going use there? I dont ubderstand what he says
Can you paint it with just a brush?
can you do fine detail with the harbor freight airbrush?
Yeah it works great for anything
Do you do commissioned work or
What kind or size nozzle do you use to spray the Latex?
+BingDaddyTy It's just the standard tip that came with the gun. It's a cheap Harbor Freight airbrush.
Thanks
What kind of video editing software do you use?
Adobe CC
No need to apologize for your noisy air compressor. I once took an airbrush class and my instructor's compressor was louder than yours! I have a quieter compressor, myself. But it heats up too quickly, so there is limited time to use it ... or else it will overheat and ruin the motor.
Can you use acrylic paint on a latex mask?
Anthony Acuna to use acrylic paints on a latex mask you have to mix the paint with latex. You only want to add enough acrylic paint to color the latex. It should be more latex than acrylic, maybe 70/30 or so. If you only use acrylic and try to paint on latex, the paint will crack.
Undercover Monsters thank you so much
Anthony Acuna You're welcome.
+Undercover Monsters is it possible to use latex house paint and thin it down to use it in an airbrush?
Joseph Valentin no, I don't believe so. The cheapest thing you can do is to buy a small bottle of latex from a Halloween or party supply store. Then mix latex and cheap acrylic paint together. Only add enough acrylic to color the latex, it should be about 70%-30% latex/acrylic.
can you paint with acrylic?
I would recommend using a sponge instead of paint brush so that you don't see your stroke lines.
What kind of paint do you use
he says it several times.
can you mix glue, water and black latex paint, or just use a black latex based paint?
+PT5BASSMAN98 What would the glue and water be for? Also you don't want to use latex house paints.
+Undercover Monsters that's what my friend told me, but i have no idea what type of paint or mixture to use
PT5BASSMAN98 I have never heard of that method, you might want to look into it. Since it is Halloween time you can find paint easily. Just go to a Halloween store or Walmart and buy a bottle of liquid latex. Then you can just buy cheap acrylic paint from Walmart. You only want to add enough acrylic to color the latex. I would say about 70/30 latex to acrylic. Mix these in small containers so you can store them. You must mix acrylic with latex or else it will wash off.
+Undercover Monsters would it be cheaper than buying monster makers paint?
Where did you buy unpainted masks?
We made it..
wow
Is the paint permanent?
I have a Mickey Mouse mask I would like too freshen up what can I use?
belkis enamorado is it a latex mask? If so, you might be able to use this method, granted it doesn't have a clear coat. If the mask has a clear coat, you might not be able to get paint to stick to it. But if you try it, you can just take latex and add a small amount of acrylic paint to it. Only add enough paint to color the latex, about 1/5 paint max. It will dry a darker color than what you see. Hopefully this helps out.
Where did you get the latex for the mask?
+Herman Studios (Germany) I got mine from the Midwest Haunter Convention, but i usually get it from Monster Makers.
Nice. we're headed out to MHC in 2 weeks! Maybe we'll run into you there.
Is that mask made of liquid latex or foam latex?
+Frankntooth Liquid
+Undercover Monsters Nice, working on some mask ideas right now, gotta finish painting this one right now. Its looking awesome. I need some transparents though as the opaques are clogging my Iwata really badly no matter my water to paint ratio. Been doing prosthetics as well, gonna make some fiberglass masks soon as well. Keep up the good work dude. I really need to start watching your videos more.
I wanna repaint one of my masks, what's the easiest way to remove the original paint?
+fukkboi 3000 Try using isopropyl alcohol. But if it is latex based, then good luck. You may have to just put down a white base coat and go from there.
+Undercover Monsters oh ok, thanks!
**sorry for my noisy air compressor**
hey dude, can i use the same tecnique you use to paint and allready painted latex mask... kinda llike this www.nightmarefactory.com/ProductImages/T/B/TB27501.jpg ?
Most likely yes. I repainted the eyes on an old clown mask and it was just fine. I only say most likely because if it is coated with perma-wet the paint might not want to stick.
Mga buang nga tawo bisaya ako
So boring so unprofessional
