This is great, I like the way you rip up the shirts, it looks much more organic. I work at a haunted house, and I wanted to make my costume from scratch this year
+Undercover Monsters Hey, great vid, man! Like seeing you actually respond to people too, so got a question for ya (hopefully in enough time for you to answer!). I'm making my daughter into a zombie and need to start clothes tonight/tomorrow to have done by Saturday), and I only bought the fake blood to use, but I'm wanting to do the "sweat, mold, etc" crud too now, so would it work just as well using regular food coloring (which I already have) versus going out and buying the Rit fabric coloring? TIA! :)
Angie Carter Barlow I honestly can't say for sure because i have never used food coloring. I would think it would be good enough, except that the colors would probably be very weak and you would need a lot of food coloring.
I don't know about regular paint...maybe if you water it down some though? If that's actually what you mean to do, sorry if that sounds like a stupid suggestion, lol! I was going to try using food colouring for my daughter's zombie costume I made her last Halloween from clothes I bought at the thrift store, but ended up buying the RIT fabric dye (at Walmart) because I didn't want to take my chances on it not looking good, and WOW! I ended up with no regrets spending the extra money to do that, versus using stuff I already had on hand, cause it looked SOOOO freakin realistic. I wish I could post pictures of it!
Awesome tutorial! Im going to be in a zombie show this weekend and needed some suggestions on how to bloody up my clothes. I LOVE what you did to those shirts! Thank you!
I wish you could do a crash course on Making zombies, and filming them. I feel they really don't cover the processes well enough to mimic them. The walking dead, is sort of hush hush with all their materials to a degree.
G0SuBunnY The lead girl I had was pretty good but the guy was so bad we had to toss the footage. It was laughable when it was supposed to be serious ha-ha.
In general I have about $600.00 a year for projects like this (11 months started plus my elders age for total adult in 2004) Very comforting to me & funny Thanks
@Frano Kolovic it's found in most party/dress up stores! but its super easy to make! just mix corn syrup with lots of red food dye and a little bit of blue or green too. this is too thick to use in a spray bottle but you should be able to mix it with water.
+liten böna I'm sorry but that is wrong information. The blood i used is for professional applications. It is used in Haunted Houses all over the world. It is a permanent blood paint that is waterproof on most surfaces. It will stay looking wet & fresh even after it dries. Also it is not cheap. The blood you are speaking of is very sticky, but will work for adding extra blood to your costume. But if you want a permanent costume you need permanent blood.
thank you! my friends and i are doing a zombie walk and i've been looking for a way to scuff my costume so it looks better than your typical cheap costume
Just depends how fast you are with a knife, but by looking at your profile pic BE SAFE!!!!!! Don't go using a knife like this without supervision. But normally a single shirt would only take 5-10 minutes.
I took a white shirt today and cut it all over and then took it outside and scrubbed it on some green algae growing on some dock steps and I put different kinds of dirt on it and rubbed that in. Then I put the shirt in an old burn pile and scrubbed the charcoal from the fire and the soot onto it. So far the algae got me the best results. Tomorrow I will probably add fake blood and I am nervous that after all that work I will do a cruddy job with the blood. This tutorial helped especially since the shirts you made have the blood pattern I am going for. Other shirts I have seen have too many drip lines going across them and I personally don't like that because it looks too painted.
That algae deal sounds a bit sketchy lol.. be safe. But what i like to do for blood is put it on my hands and smear it on the clothes as if you were being grabbed. Sometimes i also direct the blood in one certain area as if that is where you had been killed.
Note: Zombies don't sweat they're dead (nonworking sweat glands) but the yellow used in this demo can be used for puss areas where they were injured while alive followed by green mold spray as puss does get moldy during decay of body.
+Teri Bylund Zombies were all alive at some point, which you acknowledged, and most likely they were running for their lives from other zombies, hence the sweat. I got this tip from seeing how the clothing on The Walking Dead was made.
cool tutorial i gonna do zombie too on coming con in belgium have the cuts i weathered with black never thought to use some brown and yellow to add it that permanent blood looks real cool on your clothes i gonna order that for my shirt
Glad I found this video. Im planning on being a... The term is Walker. For Halloween and was looking for videos on how to give your clothes that dead look but they involved boiling water and stuff and there's just no time for that around here. Thanks.
I just made my kids costumes like this and i was wondering how long will the dye last does it start to dry up in the bottle after sitting for a long time I have dye left over but was gonna do a few other shirts after i go get more cloths?
I've been always trying to cosplay as a zombie And when i've made my outfits I just never knew how to actually make one I just have to buy more stuff now :D thanks
Hi! First I must say your tutorial on how to make a zombie costume is brilliant! But I have a question about these perma colours and perks blood.Where can I buy those and how do I search for those in the shops since I am from Serbia and I don't know where to look first. Thank you!Keep up this amazing work you do!❤
Love your twiztid shirt... wondering if at any point you wash.. prob silly question, but it's for my daughter and she is picky with textures and things like that!
+Reader s Claw Are you referring to our blood paint? We make our own that is very similar to Perma-Blood but cannot give the recipe away. Check out Pale Night Productions and their Perma-Blood.
Ur bad neighbors would probably see those bloody clothes and they'll be nice to you from now on lol xD Edit: but seriously, damn you're really great!! YOU DESERVE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!!
Hey! I love the look of these and used it for a distressed costume look for a show. The costumes looked great but just FYI- Rit dye doesn't set well without heat, and even then we wound up with lots of color transfer off of the clothes. I'm going to try fabric paints next time instead- those can be set with just an iron.
We have actually changed up the process a bit because we discovered that the dye is meant to be set by microwaving your clothing after you dye it. That has made a significant difference.
I tried this. The effects were awesome but the dye left a powdery substance when it dried. Now there is red powder all over everything. We are doing a zombie walk tomorrow and I’m worried our necks will be dyed pink afterwards.
Would love to see a video on how you make your blood! A few have done some and the best I found that I liked so far was from Allen Hopps' Stiltbeast Studios page, however it's using a glue and I'd rather find a different blood for clothing etc. I noticed your bottle was a Liquitex bottle but would really be interested in seeing you make your blood.
:) Sorry but that is a secret. I discovered what i believe is the ingredients to Perma-Blood and i don't want to give it away. For one i don't want to be rude to them and for two, we sell the blood ourselves.
Fake blood is fine for the night, but it's no permanent. If i told you how to make our blood i would have to add you to the recipe ;) However you can buy Perma-Blood online from Pale Night Productions, it's AWESOME!!!
Awesome video. Can you give me any tips of making cloths look like it has engine oil black markings? I wanna make a pair of jeans have that effect without using actual motor oil. Any suggestions?
awesome thanks im planing on doing a snow white soombie costume for may and i did not had any ideas onbhow to make my dress look soombieish sooo thank you so much! :)
How long did you soak the dress in the yellow sweat mix and what is the ratio for dye and water for that process? Attempting to do my daughters Jean dress and light pink shirt …. Super nervous only got one shot lol
Hi would you recommend dying Dr. shrubs with the method that you use and then permit blood last? I wanted to do the sweat and dirty look on a pair of scrubs and then finish it off with Pirma blood at the end once it’s dried
This is great, I like the way you rip up the shirts, it looks much more organic. I work at a haunted house, and I wanted to make my costume from scratch this year
What if someone happened to walk by and saw all those bloody clothes? XD
lmao
Hang them to dry somewhere the general public can't see them like your garage or basement over a tarp so they don't drip
exactly I was hoping that was his back yard lol
Tim Gora lol
Tim Gora ò
thanks for the help. Halloween was tomorrow and i had no ideas until i saw this video. thank you know my Halloween is not ruined!!

Awesome! Good luck with your zombie son!
Hey the Zombie went amazing but I would have loved to get more time in on these clothes! This is a long process!!!
Hands down the best tutorial. Thank you!
Why thank you! We try! Subscribe for more.
Ya this is the best tutorial
WOW! You are all so awesome for helping us get over 25,000 views on our video! Thank you all very much!!!
DailyVlogWolf Depending on your weather it might be nice to add a long sleeve shirt and not actually make cuts through your undershirt.

hello ! is it okay to use normal red paint we use for painting instead of fabric paint ??
I don't know about regular paint...maybe if you water it down some though? If that's actually what you mean to do, sorry if that sounds like a stupid suggestion, lol!

Now I can look like a dead person in my everyday life! Thank you!
would it work (as a realism effect) to throw it on the ground kick it rub dirt on it etc to make it look dirtier?
Of course it would, but I guess you would make yourself and stuff dirty while wearing it
Yes, i've done that on costumes before. I've also took blood and mixed dirt with it to give it a really grimy look.
Undercover Monsters good to know :)
Can you send me a zombie shirt I'm going to be a zombie for hollowen my address is 1200 Pocono ranch lands im7
you should delete that comment
somebody's gonna kill you
Awesome tutorial! Im going to be in a zombie show this weekend and needed some suggestions on how to bloody up my clothes. I LOVE what you did to those shirts! Thank you!
You can use Kool-Aid, Tea, and Food Coloring for dye as well...
Tea is good for a sweaty, dirty color.
I'm making myself a zombie costume this halloween, this video was a big help!
Watching this in 2021 and it’s still an easy, great tutorial. Thanks!
I'm going to kids party and I have to be a zombie so I going to be Michael Jackson as a zombie....

I wish you could do a crash course on Making zombies, and filming them. I feel they really don't cover the processes well enough to mimic them. The walking dead, is sort of hush hush with all their materials to a degree.
That could be fun. I did make a pretty cool zombie for a black & white horror film that turned out terrible. haha
aww but thats the fun of film making! The mistakes!
G0SuBunnY The lead girl I had was pretty good but the guy was so bad we had to toss the footage. It was laughable when it was supposed to be serious ha-ha.
I love zombie costumes, even when they're not groundbreaking lol but you can have a lot of fun at making it

Going to a Zombie Bar Crawl next weekend and your video is the best!!! It's to the point with great instruction and examples. Thanks!
@Frano Kolovic it's found in most party/dress up stores! but its super easy to make! just mix corn syrup with lots of red food dye and a little bit of blue or green too. this is too thick to use in a spray bottle but you should be able to mix it with water.

When you use like tights or jeans do you suggest still using all the colors?
+Madison Sanchez That would just be a personal preference. It just depends on how aged you want the clothing to look.
Brilliant! I am performing the thriller dance this year and will use this. Thank you!
The knife tip helped with mu snork cosplay thanks :^)
How long does 1 shirt take to make because I will need the make several shirts

It's a great effect I'm sure a person would suffer a lot before they turned into Zombies therefore sweat
Can I use paint mixed with water? And maybe smear it around with gloves on? I don't have a spray bottle
thanks I was totally lost till I saw this video time to get my zombie on 😂

Watching in 2023 thank you for the tips I needed!
Do you wash the clothes when you're finished with them and before wearing?
How long does this take to dry?
I really like the bloody coveralls. Could be great to use for Michael Myers
Thank you for explaining this. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but your video is great and very well done thanks
Just use the spray and the knife. Make a mud puddle play in it. Add some leaves there you go
Since your using RIT dye do you wash the clothes before wearing them, and roughly how long did it take for everything to dry and be" wear ready"?
Same question i gott
Thankyou this is genius I’m so excited to make my costume 😀
I've been always trying to cosplay as a zombie And when i've made my outfits I just never knew how to actually make one I just have to buy more stuff now :D thanks
