I can't tell you how cool it is of you to put these lessons out for free. You're preserving the art-form, and creating new generations of monster makers. I say that makes you the best. Thank you.
Love your way of teaching, start with not assuming your viewers are experts or beginners, specify what materials are needed and which aren't, and provide a Bob-Ross-like commentary with humor
Started off doing mask conversions and just started getting into molding and pouring my own and this is by far the best and most informative video ever love your work
Ed! I'm so happy I found you again. My family and I miss watching your show "Making Monsters". These other reality shows don't compare. I enjoyed the behind the scenes that you, your wife and Jordu provided. Your humor and expertise were incomparable. I love your visionary creativity! I'll keep watching as long as you're still alive and kickin.
as a horror artist, of pretty much every medium, sculpting, digital art, painting, mixed media, do i have respect for you, sir! posting these easy to follow, very educational, free, completely accessible and honestly very aesthetically appealing content, is a very honourable thing to do, sharing your experience for free. and the cute little jokes and dad-like humour is a major plus.
All I can think while watching this is "why the heck aren't you a judge on Face Off?" Man. I've learned so much just watching this little half hour video.
I have watch you and the members of your company for years and loved everything you design. Can't wait till you come back to Houston. Don't ever stop. You and your guys are super great. Thanks Mike
WOW excellent instruction. "If I was Picasso I'd be done." And when he cut out the 1st eye hole I was like "WOW THATS A BIG EYEHOLE!" Shows you my knowledge of sculpting - none. Great job.
i watch an awful lot of arts and crafts videos and i have to applaud you on the first few mins firstly, for listing the items needed or advised secondly, because you have done this as if you are a new started and don't have expensive equipment i am now going to watch the rest of the vid
Thank you for posting. Some of us eat, sleep and dream sculpting and shadows. This is a small injection of clay when a person is too busy to sit down and create.
I wish you would show the sculpting of the facial features and anatomy sculpting. How ever I like it and learned a lot. Thank you for showing us your work.
Finally! A video that explains more about how to work with clay. Each medium has a property and I have wanted to learn clay sculpting for quite some time with HORRIBLE results. Thanks Ed. Miss your show. We switched cable companies and only one DVR so my wife has laid claim to all the programming rights.(She pays for it so she's allowed).
I absolutely love this!!! I've been wanting to get into sculpting and this is so helpful!!! Thank you for posting this - this will really help me take it to the next level!!!
Good to see you respond to the viewers on you tube, I love your work, I did commercial Art in highschool at a technical school for 2 years and it was great learning experience, with computer, spray paint and print on t shirts and picture frames. This was back in 1994-1995 year in Commercial Art. Those were the days.
Word to the wise: If you don't have a boomstick and just plan to punch the ever loving piss out of the clay, you should keep in mind that there is hard wood under there with pointy corners and it will hurt when you hit it. Gentle pimp slaps until you build up some solid layers. On the other hand, I only got a purple knuckle, but if your bone pops out it could make a decent sculpting tool.
I love masks so I was happy when I saw this in my recommendation definitely seems like something I'd be interested in very relaxing and educational thanks 👍
LOVE IT!!! this is just like bn in a proper classroom with you and you make it so interesting, no boring moment, Thanks Ed, you are just the absolute best!!!
Since Summer of 81' we have admired his wonderful Masks !! (Worked for Morris Costumes) Jim, my super-visor, was often bragging on this very talented man !! (and thank you again for making a discontinued "Mutation" mask for me, back in early 1982) Well-done video tutorial !
Wow I'm so thankful that you popped up in my recommended videos. I've been trying to teach myself to sculpt my own prosthetics for about a month now but I've never actually worked with any kind of clay or sculpting tools before. Most of the stuff I've made so far has been so uneven and rough that I've ended up ripping everything off and starting over.
Your beard is amazing, this is the first video of yours that im watching, and the sculpting is fantastic, but the beard and its form is beautifull Sincerely A beardless beard lover

Hahaha came here to say the same thing. 😅
I'm in university for a sculpture degree and this is the kind of stuff I want to do for my career. Love your videos, man
Thanks!
I don't know what it is about clay but's always satisfying to watch someone make something out of clay. :D
It's because it's very malleable and versatile probably.
It's because you can take any anonymous mass and make it into anything you can imagine in real tactile 3D.
Is it just me, or is this guy the sweetest guy ever?
I don't have an artistic bone in my body. Artists see things I can't. It's fantastic to watch this.
Thank you Paul!
At this point I'd be looking for an artistic muscle or organ.
What a fantastic sense of humor this guy has, very patient teacher too.
That Picasso joke was actually funny.
no doubt some of the best content on youtube right here

Why would anyone downvote a competent instructional video? Either you're interested in this stuff or you aren't.
