    I got it and am very satisfied with it. Very small amount of black smearing, not noticeable. Bloom is Not really noticeable in games. I also haven't really dealt with the free sync flicker, hasn't been an issue. Gets very bright and looks great.

    This is easily the best sub-$300 monitor available right now, and might be one of the best under $500. The segment is full of low-quality VA panels that smear or IPS panels with a contrast ratio lower than the average gamer's BMI.

      @@TheNewOption You'll notice them if you're coming from IPS, but I got used to it like I got used to my S3422DWG (which is also a VA and I'd say has way worse viewing angles than the AOC)

    • @TheNewOption
      @TheNewOption 2 месяца назад

      @@bluesharpie9744 I see, yeah mine is an IPS right now, it's a 15 inch laptop screen though so it's annoyingly small as it is. What about the black smearing is that an issue with the AOC? I'm really torn between IPS and a VA, the backlight bleed on IPS worries me and the viewing angles and black smearing worries me on VA...there seems to be tradeoffs no matter what you do...

    • @bluesharpie9744
      @bluesharpie9744 2 месяца назад

      @@TheNewOption This VA panel has virtually no noticeable black smearing in my experience (check RTINGS too, it has better response than some IPS panels in certain areas) and it's only noticeable with scrolling white text on dark backgrounds. I wouldn't say it's much worse than this random 240hz IPS panel I have on my laptop. It's certainly a lot better than my S3422DWG which was already regarded as a decent response time panel

    Good info. I bought it last year from Amazon when first released. I returned it due to the flicker she mentions when freesync is enabled. It was annoying and a deal breaker. I thought I had a bad copy but it appears its an issue. I can confirm it is a freesync issue as the flickering no longer happens when either freesync is turned off or you set the refresh rate to 144 Hz or lower. (My gpu is RX 6950 XT) I went with LG 27GR93U instead. Great monitor. The LG has better HDR also even though its only HDR 400. HDR on the AOC looked dull. There are 3 or 4 HDR modes on the AOC but none of them looked right.

    It would definitely be my pick if I could get it anywhere in Europe. But sadly it's almost impossible to find and it's like 60% more expensive, with speculation that European model suffer a certain flaw. So bad luck for Europe. The only other viable alternative I see is the Gigabyte M27Q (which has much worse HDR).

      @@johnprivat4379 I use strong local dimming and the blacks get pitch black, but you do see some scenes where blooming can crop up, but that's the name of the game with FALD in general. I mostly love this monitor. It's about an 85-90 percent incredible HDR experience, the 10-15 percent bad is only when a few moments of distracting blooming happens (but it's not super often).

    • @arildk90
      @arildk90 8 месяцев назад +8

      Not only is it overpriced. AFAIK there is an issue regarding the European stock version being straight up worse than the US one.
      Take this comment with a grain of salt--
      Quote from Rtings review:
      "To answer my own question, I believe it’s because of different firmware. US versions have different firmware with better color accuracy and lower SDR brightness. It can be identified be GAME SETTINGS. The US version has VRR called “ADAPTIVE SYNC”, while EU (and probably also China versions) have it called “AMD Freesync”. This way you can identify the version of monitor you have. Such a shame that this monitor costs way less in US while also being better. So if you are outside US, consider this when buying the monitor."

    how do you expect the monitor to stand firm if you don't have enough legs? You won't put your monitor on your lap, RTNGS. Ridiculous arguments.

    Had OAC. Bad warranty, bad customer service, bad quality control. Many computer stores in Canada stopped selling AOC products due to all the issues, returns and warranty claims/problems.

      Where did you find this information? Newegg says it's out of stock due to popular demand. I'm having some issues with this monitor and will return it if it's been discontinued. Thanks in advance!

      @@justinparker9329 I am not 100% sure it has been however Amazon only has used in stock and they are all more money than the new one. Some are even $100 more! I may have got the last new one available on Amazon in the USA.
