Hello RTINGS!! Greetings from Brazil! Thanks for your awesome reviews! I really appreciate your job!! Guys, I have a question: here in Brazil we do not have so many different monitors, some nice monitors do not come to Brazil. I am looking for a QHD gaming monitor, and the prices of Dell S3422DWG and Alienware AW2724DM are very similar, but the black smearing and ghosting of VA panel worry me as well as the local dimming and black looking gray in the Alienware IPS panel. So, what would you recommend to me knowing that I am a casual gamer and I use the computer for gaming 80% of time, but I also use the monitor for home studying and media consumption? Excellent review. Has anyone faced problems with some shades of red on this monitor? Even configuring according to the supplied ICC, some shades of red, not all, turn orange In sRGB mode. In custom color mode, the red does not turn orange but it looks strange. For example, the RUclips logo tends towards orange instead of the classic red (In sRGB mode). In DCI-P3 mode, red tones tend to become "neon" or diluted. Is there any solution for this?

@@thesuspect6168 Hey bro, luckily you can send them back free of chanrge if you're not happy with them but yeah it's a hassel. I'm a bit stuck honesty. I both game & do freelance video & photo work. Even if I had unlimited money to blow on monitors the 360hz OLED on the desktop just looks awful which is strange seeing as its 1440p. The only monitors that looks appealing are the new dual mode 4k 240hz 480hz 1080 monitors but they are around £1300 and the one I saw reviewed was matte coating. I would like to try something like that but with glossy. 24 inch monitors give you aches and bad posture so I want a 27 inch ideally. I think for now I will be grabbing a portible 17 inch monitor for video/photo work as I will be traveling back and from sweden this year. The 2 I'm looking into the espresso 17 pro and an asus pro art model. I will probably grab a cheaper 240hz lcd gaming monitor for the time being until an glossy dual mode comes out. New monitors are dropping almost daily at the moment so there could well be an option already I've not seen. It's a long term thing for me so I want to get it right but it's tough with RUclipsrs not really incentivised to be fully honest about what they think.
I recently bought the Dell g2724d, and am very happy with it, ps5 compatible, no overshooting and the response time feels amazing. My only concern with it the poor HDR, certified for vesa displayhdr 400. While the aw, has vesa display hdr600 and better local dimming which is my biggest complaint with the g2724d. with hdr ON theirs some high “blooming” when I look at high brightness areas , like charging uphill towards the sun, enemies in darker areas almost disappear. Will purchasing a monitor with better local dimming reduce this problem?

Honestly I don't understand why IPS monitors like these get such high ratings. The contrast ratio is an absolute joke and the IPS glow makes the monitors borderline unusable in the dark. I tried watching an horror movie on a G2724D and it was an horrible experience. Played Days Gone and same thing here, during the day, the colors were vibrant so it looked great but as soon as it got dark... I could barely see anything except the freakin' glow coming from every corner.
Not sure where you're located, but in Canada it's 30% cheaper than the LG 27GP850-B for nearly the same performance. I bought mine in June, it's a really good value for a 1440p gaming monitor.

@@jaylomere then they shouldn't market their monitors as gaming monitors. it's not just this model, but no monitor in their range has backlight strobing...inlcuding their pricy alienware products.
You really shouldn't expect backlight strobing on a 165Hz display, as it can be very noticeable and lead to headaches and/or eye pain at refresh rates lower than 240Hz.
@@ggabezera there are 4 main features every gaming-monitor should have: - high refresh rate, 120Hz and more - low input lag - backlight strobing - dark stabilizer those features are absolute basics features like virtual crosshairs are a plus those 5% of people who suffer headaches because of backlight strobing can deactivate it in the menu, problem solved... I never had a headache caused by my 120hz monitor with activated backlight strobing. there is a reason why most gaming-monitors have backlight strobing. well, none of dell/alienware's "gaming"-monitors have it...

So does since it doesn’t have hdmi 2.1 does that mean I will only get 60 hz if I connect it to my Xbox?
Isn't that covered at 2:44 ?
It has VRR over hdmi so no need for 48gbps as this isn’t a 4K 120hz monitor, but nice that it supports downscaled 4K 60hz for consoles.
I get 144hz using the display port cable it came with.
How to enable Freesync ?
I cant find it in the monitor settings
Also, should I use HDR by default in supported games ?
Is the stand adjustable?

There is not Audio-out port in this model. There is a port in parent model - AW2723DF (210-BFII)
I hate this monitors text clarity, always on hdr local dimming, and lack of real hdmi 2.1. Have to crank the sharpness to 90 before the text is not visibly fuzzy
same im sending mine back for this reason. Gaming is awesome but desktop is horible
@@esc.33It's good that I saw these comments, I was about to buy it. Did you choose something instead?
It's a long term thing for me so I want to get it right but it's tough with RUclipsrs not really incentivised to be fully honest about what they think.
contrast and glow a complte no go
How is a 500 bucks Monitor considered budget?
Budget specs. You should not pay more than 350 bucks for this and Dell offers enough deals from time to time.
Great Content & Review👍
Thank you for watching! 😄
My AW2723DF didnt come with usb-c cable... Why Dell?
I recently bought the Dell g2724d, and am very happy with it, ps5 compatible, no overshooting and the response time feels amazing.
My only concern with it the poor HDR, certified for vesa displayhdr 400. While the aw, has vesa display hdr600 and better local dimming which is my biggest complaint with the g2724d.
with hdr ON theirs some high “blooming” when I look at high brightness areas , like charging uphill towards the sun, enemies in darker areas almost disappear.
Will purchasing a monitor with better local dimming reduce this problem?
I bought the Aw2724dm and the HDR is incredible, probably the best you can get on a IPS panel that is not mini LED.
The HDMI port is 2.1 and not 2.0 on this model.
Hey! This distinction is related to what manufacturers advertise and the bandwidth the port actually supports. We have a video that goes into detail on the subject, feel free to check it out! ruclips.net/video/tzW1KtZaaE8/видео.html
I take backlight bleed over ips glow anyday!
it has a 2.1 hdmi
Impressão minha ou eu ouvi um tchau no final ?
É um ciao, usam essa expressão lá fora, parecidissíma.
Here in Brazil HDMI 2.1
Basically is Dell g2724d monitor(best cheap gaming monitor în 2024) with 180 Hz refresh rate(instead of 165hz) and 2 adittional usb 2.0 ports. And, of course, RGB Light on back, alienware logo and writing 😂😂😂😂😂.
DO NOT BUY THIS MONITOR
I have been reading someone reviews and I dont know why but looks like they are using BOE panels and not LG and BOE version white looks REALLY YELLOW
I just bought this monitor, and it comes with the BOE panel and looks so yellow. Just save your money
Can you recommend something else?
You dont need usb 2.1 for ps5 if this isnt a 4k monitor. USB 2.0 is perfect for 1440p (2k) max output is 144HZ which is capped at 120Hz for the PS5 😂
hdmi 2.0? I thought it had a 2.1 port ?

Honestly I don't understand why IPS monitors like these get such high ratings. The contrast ratio is an absolute joke and the IPS glow makes the monitors borderline unusable in the dark. I tried watching an horror movie on a G2724D and it was an horrible experience. Played Days Gone and same thing here, during the day, the colors were vibrant so it looked great but as soon as it got dark... I could barely see anything except the freakin' glow coming from every corner.
The problem is, there is no perfect screen. All technologies have their down- and upsides.
@@basbas63just gotta wait another 10 - 20 years for microled.
save your eyes. play with lights on
That's weird, I have this monitor and never have experienced amy of these issues, you might have gotten a lemon
Not supposed to be watching a screen in the dark anyways.
No, just buy the DELL G2724D, pretty much the same for cheaper.
why pick this over the lg 27gp models? lgs cost less and perform the same..
Not sure where you're located, but in Canada it's 30% cheaper than the LG 27GP850-B for nearly the same performance. I bought mine in June, it's a really good value for a 1440p gaming monitor.
@@Heckstrike italy here, the lg costs around 300 and the alienware costs 450 lol
no, the lg performs better and has, for gaming essential, the backlight strobing feature.
for console players no hdmi 2.1 so no vrr on ps5. thats why i chose the dell.
LG is crap.
baldies basics thank for review you are beet root (Russia)
It's always a mysterie to me how a so called "gaming-monitor" can get top reviews without backlight strobing. It's funny to recognize enemies fast with this blurry mess...
a lot of reviews are dodgy
Backlight strobbing isn’t necessary for the vast majority, it’s to expensive to impl meant good backlight strobbing into a monitor of this price.
@@ggabezera there are 4 main features every gaming-monitor should have:
- high refresh rate, 120Hz and more
- low input lag
- backlight strobing
- dark stabilizer
those features are absolute basics
features like virtual crosshairs are a plus
those 5% of people who suffer headaches because of backlight strobing can deactivate it in the menu, problem solved...
I never had a headache caused by my 120hz monitor with activated backlight strobing.
there is a reason why most gaming-monitors have backlight strobing. well, none of dell/alienware's "gaming"-monitors have it...
