New to wood working as therapy following heavy losses. Thank you for this!
Thanks so much 😁👍 I'm soon going to do my first Panel glue ups and was little nervous, but this is simple and easy to follow Thanks
The most clean and organized work station. Congratulations. I've seen only dirty places so far.
Will be trying it for the first time soon to get started on my first project
3:40 what I was taught in college you wait till it's hard and sand it off, this allows the glue to form and seal properly and you can get the wood peices smooth like babies skin
damn.....i should have watched this an hour ago before i glued the boards together....
Pro tip: watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Titus Elias Definitely, I've been using Flixzone for months myself :D
Nice! Cool to learn wait a couple hours before working with the wood glued. For some reason I was thinking 24 hour waiting period.
Do most pva glues take about 12 hours to dry & 24 hours to fully cure??????🤔
Thank you very much. This presentation was very helpful. God bless.
Thank you. I have a damaged solid historic door, that the bored knob was blown out. I'll attempt to cut and join a new 2x to the busted area after cutting out the damaged section. I'll take an extra step and add biscuits for additional joint stability under a moderate load due to door hardware.
Wow I just payed big bucks for a glue up on a table top made of Maple wood. I should have came here first. I'll now use your instructions to do the legs. Thank you
Amazing to know that the wood would actually break first, before the glue joins.
Solid video 👍 thank you
Thank you for the video Rob. Your approach makes sense.
Good afternoon. I just found your video and you have refreshed my memory on gluing wood together. You have helped me tremendously. Thank you very much. Now I do ask, What type of glue do you use for this project. Are there any differences in the wood glues such as elmers vs gorilla wood glues? Thank you and have a good day.
I like titebond III. It’s waterproof and gives you a little more time to work with it before it sets.
I was I the same boat needing to remember this lol
It's easy in theory to glue up panels that are perfectly flat and square. What I struggle with is the process to make the boards flat and square. I have a small end jointer, 13" electric planer, and electric hand planer. My boards usually end up flat, but gently curved, or the edges will be wavy along the length. Can you please show the process of how you prepared the four boards for this video. Thanks!
first thing is how much moisture so depends on what wood, let it acclimate for about a week before you work with it and then it depends on what you're making. Another tip is when you seal, do it on all sides the same so it adjust to moisture evenly so don't skimp on the bottom.
Before you cut to length, square up the long edges of your boards. Run one edge on the jointer to get it perfectly flat, then use that edge against the jointer fence to flatten out one face of the board. Then run it through the thickness planer to get the other face flat and square, then rip on the table saw to width - you'll have a perfectly square board, aside from the ends. Once you figure out the length you want, cut with a miter saw.
Buen video gracias...
I want one of those Vices! I only have some small Clamps and Im trying to figure out how to glue them together
Go on Amazon and buy the bessey h style pipe clamps. I bought 4 of them and then 2 sticks of 10ft rigid threaded pipe and cut the pipes in half. Now I have 4, 5ft long clamps for about $100. You can use any style threaded pipe but I chose the electrical rigid because it doesn't have the oils on it that black iron does.
Really love the clamps

Thanks for the tips. Keep up the good work.
you said that the wood would break before the glue joins do.. Is it really so? Can you please demonstrate it in an experiment video? Which glue do you use for strong joins? Please recommend a glue of your choice which is of best quality!
New to wood woking. What kind of glue do you use? I was joining fence trim the other day to make longer pieces and used E6000 because of its weather proofing ability. Yay or nay?
Fantastic, thanks. I'm impulsively going for my first project of making a wood top for my desk out of spare wood planks from some of my shelves. Going well so far!
What a coincidence! So am I
@keithephesusgoodman8695 oh wow, I hope its going well for you mate!
How do you keep the glue from sticking to other materials like the clamps?
How do you keep larger panels (1x10x8') from warping when gluing. Hard to find wood of this size that does have some small amount of bowing.
See you clamped the bottom clamps first. I clamp one bottom then one top and then one bottom and one top. That's the better way especially when it comes to big table tops.
Thanks for the nice video. What glue do you recommend?
Pva glue
TiteBond Original is what he used
Thanks. great work.
see this is interesting to me as I am thinking of making a cnc project out of purple heart wood, I can get boards for 50-60ish but to get a slab the size I need anywhere I can find it is 1k plus
Thank you.
How about doing this,I mean sticking these woods in another ways
like nail?I am a beginner
I have done a simple shelves.By next time
I want to stick together two wood horizontally (4x1+4x1)
I will be making an oval picture frame and was wondering if I need to be concerned when cutting the shape after the panel has dried?
Thank you!
Excellent video. You had me engaged until the keep making sawdust finish line
I’m a 100% rookie you have a preferred glue recommendation? I’m going to attempt to make a small lap board to set across my lap. I’m actually in a power wheelchair due to a motor vehicle accident almost 10 years that left me with my life but gave me paralysis as a constant reminder. I have a red oak 1x10x6 in the garage and don’t have a jointer or a planer. I want my lap board to be roughly 15x30.
Can you please let me know where did you buy the wood clamps in your video?
I would love to know too !!!

What glue should I use what’s the best?
What brand/type of wood glue did you use
Very new to this. What are the clamps called?
Thankyou
Very professional and informative. Most wood workers rumble about unessesary stuff for 15 minutes to give you some info . 😂
Can anyone tell me what this blue clamps are called? Never saw them in my life but they seem very practical.
F clamps
What kind of clamps are those? They look way nicer than others.
Hi, I have two long beautiful wooden shelves I would like to glue together to create a coffee table top. I will be gluing the two long sides together, What do you recommend the distance between clamps. FYI I'm a newbie. Thank you :)
I like those clamps! Where can I get em!? Thanks!
you got no response lol rejected

Can you glue 2x6 treated lumber to make a 2x12 for step supports?
what is this clamp called? cant find it online
I'm attempting to make wood signs, some of which are unframed, it it better to glue up smaller width boards than to use a 1x12 to prevent cupping?
And my question was, Is that glue really solid? And you said at the end of the video ... Thank-you for that, now I feel very confident and ready to do the job>
I would recommend using a biscuit jointer, then glueing biscuits in when edge gluing, helps keep the top of the surfaces aligned for less sanding later and a stronger joint, one more step but worth it. Otherwise flat edge gluing your boards a very likely to travel. Even a millimeter of movement translates to another hour of sanding time if your using small hand equipment
Thank you for the video! Now, I'm trying to glue an 8ft x 4ft x 1in to a 8ft x 6inch x 1in for a train table. I'm fearing the glue will stick to the flat surface that I lay it on..I know there's a common sense way of doing it but frankly, I'm just exhausted to even think of the best way. What would you recommend? The Home Depot guy sold us on those spiked 1in x 4in metal brackets and said it was plenty, you just nail them in, HA! When we lifted the boards it completely collapsed and bent the brackets out of shape. We got the solid, non flexible wood sheet, I think it's pine or something like that but it's a solid piece. The wood was just way too heavy for the flimsy brackets. So much for the HD "experienced" folks. . Can you please help this old lady figure this out, please? Thank you again...
What are your clamps called?
Awesome tutorial.
Recently I ate tasty donut.😢
Saw dust works well after glue squeeze out, "Guy glitter"..is the technical term, dump some saw dust over the glued joint and a quick gentle scrape with putty knife.. I got this tip from another tuber who is really good, I just can't remember his name.. "guy glitter" too funny. I want to give him credit, Ill find his name and repost. UPDATE: ( Next level carpentry) is the channel. this channel is great and so is his. Check him out.
What type of clamps are those and where can i get them?
Hi I was wondering what clamps they are? They look amazing
Looks like Rockler bar clamps.
Is it okay to glued the wood that is to be used as shelves in the kitchen?
Will it be sturdy enough?
Thank you in advance Sir. 😊
They would have to be supported with brackets too. If you are joining the shelves end to end as well, be over generous with the glue, and use dowels to make sure. (Use a dowel jig)
What kind of clamps are these?Nice video thanks

Help! Beginner!!!
So I bought some 3/4” in width maple, I am building a miter saw station. I have drawers to the left of my miter saw, cabinet doors in the middle (under miter saw) and drawers to the right. I am leaving a 1/16” gap between the boards (drawer fronts) I am using the same boards to go across the whole thing to achieve a clean, smooth look. So my question is, can I use 1/16” wood pieces to go in between the joints to keep the alignment of the grain of the wood?
If I joint the cabinet door pieces, the wood grain will not align with my drawers to the left or right side. Hope that explains it well enough.
Can i do this without the clamp?
This helped to confirm a suspicion I've had. I'm new to wood working and I swear up and down that I've taken all the right steps. I take my two pieces that I want to glue together. Both edges have been jointered and both the face and the other side have also been jointered and planed, and even when I put the two edged together before gluing, the larger piece I'm trying to make out of the two of them STILL cups.
I've done all the steps (jointing, planing, table sawing), glued and clamped my pieces and yet I still just can't seem to get away from my wooden slabs cupping.
I have learned that if you also have 4 pieces of scrap clamp 2 on each ends this will keep the boards from warping and cupping, if you swapped the boards, everything will be fine. It doesn't take alot of pressure, but keep them firmly on until the wood glue dries.
See Steve Ramsay's channel, or other channels on woodworking.
God Bless.
What are those vice clamps called?
I've seen another woodworker doing the same thing, but at some point he removed some wood towards the center of the edge for some reason. I think it was related to clamping
Thanks Rob very informative
Doesn't the squeeze out glue the clamps to the boards?
On a large panel, what is the recommended spacing between clamps?
Nice clamps. But are all those really necessary? And where would I get those and how big are they? Thanks
The clamps are neccesary. If you dont use clamps there will be an annoying small gap in between of the pieces of wood. I think the guy in the video used clamps that were around 3 feet long.
Rockler Sure-Foot® Aluminum Bar Clamps
What is the name of that clamping device
Sash clamps, you can usually buy them already made,or some shops sell the clamp ends pieces & you can mount them on a bar to suit the length of your job. 😉😊
...aaand never place them on the sun... ha ha ha ha, one of my beginners mistake thinking it would dry faster...
Thank you Neil! I was thinking I would do that! Thanks again.
how wide are these boards?
What do you recommend me to do with the joint when I want to build an art panel and need to use two Masonite boards. Should I use glue or should I use tape and putty?
Is it just me ... or are the boards shown at 1:30 different than the boards shown at 2:00?
Larry, they are the same boards but composed properly to avoid warping later on. Thanks for the comment!
Can u please tell me who makes the Sash clamps that u use Thanks.
Rockler Sure-Foot® Aluminum Bar Clamps
I don't agree with alternating the growth rings on flat sawed panels. If they cup you'll maybe have a roller coaster surface, just my opinion. Like tails or pins first when it comes to dovetails. Thank you
does anyone know what clamps he's has?
Rockler Sure-Foot® Aluminum Bar Clamps
Without the biscuit joints or domino joints in between I think the board will cup .
What's the name of the glue pls.
Titebond Original
where do I get those clamps?!
They're Rockler Sure-Foot Clamps: www.rockler.com/surefoot-aluminum-bar-clamps
When the glue get rubbery do you remove the top clamps? Do you do anything to keep the glue from sticking to the clamps?
The glue is designed to get into wood fibers and so make the wood hold tight to each other, but most glues really wouldnt hold onto your clamps that much. You just take it off and clear off the residue if you even need to.
Glue brand and Name ?
