  • Sid & Judy (2019): Sid & Judy tells the story of Judy Garland’s phoenix-like rise from the ashes to the absolute heights of fame driven by her great and turbulent love affair with Sid Luft, her third husband, who managed her through triumphant highs and crushing lows, during the course of their 13-year marriage. It is the story of how The Star became The Legend.
Based in-part on Sid Luft’s recently published memoir and a wealth of never-before-seen (or heard) personal archive, the film puts the viewer inside Sid and Judy’s intimate world.
It is a privileged view inside the lives of one of our greatest icons of the stage and screen, full of all of her passion and wit, her madness and her magnificence - and lots and lots of her songs.
It is a new look at Judy for a new generation, and a celebration of Judy for those who still remember, cherish, and love her.

There have been gay men from Stonewall interviewed who said “Judy was in the room”. Certainly, there were more factors, but her death was definitely a trigger. For those that claim differently, remember the bar was regularly raided. Why that night in particular did people finally decide they’d had enough? It’s always seemed a bit homophobic to deny the Judy Garland connection, as if that trivializes this the fight against oppression. I think the Judy connection celebrates it. She knew the connection, and jokingly said when she died, the flag would be flown at half-mast on Fire Island….and it was. Yay Judy!
This person is telling her own personal story, but disrespectfully disregarding other people’s stories (calling them f**gs) that were also there. Yes, there were gay men there, too. I wish more of them had survived this long to help set the record “straight”, rather than this one-sided revisionist history.

They should have spent this time on someone who is actually appreciative of Judy Garland. It seems like they just grabbed some random person off the street.

This person is so disrespectful to Judy Garland and so vile using homophobic epithets. Couldn’t you find a legit source? Or interview from someone who was actually there and knows gay history?
