- Showing you guys how my 2014 Ram 3500 cummins with an aisin towing 24,000. Gross 33,000. Also showing coolant temps. Oil temps. Boost. Side note I had a wild weekend. And this video was done on a Monday......
I know Paul has the 2019 Ram 3500 now, but I still enjoying watching this 2014 truck pull. Dialed in and a pulling machine.
I love the sound that exhaust makes when it reflects off the semi trailers
that vantage hill is the real deal for sure. the first camper I had I pulled with a half ton gasser I would use a quarter tank just on that hill lol ! after having my 6.7 powerstroke for a couple years now I could never go back to a gas motor !
Like they say once you go black you never go back . Same on trucks . Once you go diesel you never go back 😝😝
+DuhGreaT true that
DuhGreaT Depends really, once you lose the need to have a HD diesel truck, it doesn't make sense to keep it around and keep paying all the bills associated with it.
Vantage used to be cute little town. I like the old highway towards ellensburg.
Dodge Ram went to 3.42s as their main option in 2013 in a SRW. DRW is 3.73 and 4.10s. I learned this because my 2012 2500 has 3.73. Had to call the dealer with the VIN and the Tech quoted what I just shared.
Man Cummins is no joke, a hellva engine.
Ole Cummins putting in work! Cant wait to see an update on your old 12v Cummins!
Great Video and your truck is towing strong, hell yea.
Wow a cummins driver towing without the tow mirrors up!
He doesn't need them out.
No one does
geeze I was going to say the same thing. Mirrors are wrong position!
Im gonna used them cuz they are there for a reason lol but I don’t need them
Do you have an egt probe? I'm curious as to what your exhaust gas temperatures were during this climb
I know exactly where you are! i drive that every day. You're climbing what we call The Ryegrass
2:20 "quagmire giggdy giggdy goo" on dead
My 2018 runs oil temp 201 on Hwy empty or full. Then goes down to 160 off Hwy. Around town 190’s. But I’m all stock.
How do you get away with a DOT inspection workout your emissions not hooked up.
Dennis Delaney that's easy, the Creeper Cops are too lazy to try and roll under his rig!
Most states don’t check for it. DOT cops are usually just looking at safety and overall condition.
Well thats 1 hell ova truck ya got there...I gotta a ment 2nd gen Dodge 3500...Ita a manual...But my next trucks gonna be a Dodge 4th gen...i wanna a Aisin trans...Im sold...there allsum...I got my truck from the man who got in new...got in on Halloween day...Ive loved the cummins life ever day to tow my toys with...lol.
Man, you are going to love, love LOVE the 4th gen if you like your 2nd gen that much. That Aisin 6 speed with the exhaust brake and 350HP/650lb.ft torque 6.7L VGT vs 245HP/500lb.ft with the VP44 24v 5.9L being the most powerful of the 2nd gen's variations of the 5.9 before the early 3rd gen's common rail came along. Let me tell you, that VGT rolls into boost so smooth and quick (especially with a throttle sensitivity booster) it feels like it's naturally aspirated, only with a ton of torque. And the Aisin 6 speed is a great trans, the only thing you won't be in love with is the fact that in stock form it likes to hold overdrive waaaay too deep into the throttle, then when it finally kicks out it drops down one too many gears then hunts for the right gear to be in for a few seconds.. that's where the sensitivity booster comes in, and it is night and day difference, and by far superior to anything put in previous generations. You'll also love the interior. The seats have got to be just about the most comfortable I've ever sat in and to be frank, there's way too much leg room front and back and I'm 6'3". The controls/wheel and dash layout is really nice and natural feeling. And even if you do somehow end up stuck riding in the back seat, it's more comfortable than the 2nd and 3rd gen's heated front leather seats were in my opinion. I know it's a huge investment, but don't hesitate to pull the trigger, you will not regret it. Also, just so you're aware, the truck in the video isn't stock. It's fully emissions deleted, running a cooler thermostat, and I'm 90% sure it's at least tuned if it doesn't also have a lift pump and some injector work done.. nevertheless, great trucks!
My 08 3500 24 2500 rpm is the sweet spot when pulling heavy
It helps when you run deleted.
Dave Fox good way to to ruin a good motor: hot shotin with a deleted, tuned diesel
I think the bar you’re talking about is a pan hard bar if I’m not mistaken.
My backyard 🤙
pulls good with 3.42s wonder how good it would pull with 4.11s
With a 6 speed trans it doesn’t make a difference. You pick your rpm at whatever speed you are at. And it’s 4.10’s not 4.11’s
Hi can you make a video showing how to use auto stick with cruise control towing up a hill with down shift points on rpm and up shifts at what to up shift or down shift and if in drive can I shift while I’m moving in 4 gear or 5 gear
How in the hell are your coolant and oil temps not climbing when boost is that high at that rpm? I have the same engine and truck and pull up there regularly and mine at the top of these passes is 210* or more. I can only imagine what your egts are!
Impressive! My egt's on my 04 w/Juice would have kept me at 55 mph....
I have a 2018 mega 3500 with aisin SRW 3.42 and was towing approx 12k yesterday, it was a 12v pick up with a plow on it so it was a big parachute on a bumper pull. I had oil temps in the range of 200-210. I just bought the truck used so I’m not 100% sure what oil is in it but my coolant temps were also a little higher than yours and I was only running about 60mph and somewhat flat ground. Truck is also bone stock. Ambient was around 70-75.
I’m not saying my truck was getting warm but it seemed a lot warmer than your truck especially since you were hauling double the weight and up hill. Your truck seems to run a little cooler than mine.
Even when I coast I never really ever see 181 like you had at one point. Could deleting a truck have that much a difference? Thanks Paul.
Deltas my friend deltas. What was your coolant temp? If you're within around 20ish degrees of your coolant I'd say you're fine 200 really isn't bad. If you're deltas are bigger than about 20 degrees I'd look into changing your oil cooler
And you said you're stock. Pds truck is deleted. You're truck will definitely run hotter if it's got the emissions stuff.
@PD Diesel Power hey man, I got a 2018 ram 3500 dually... I'm thinking about hotshot but I have no idea where to even get started. I need a gooseneck, any recomendations or any way I can email you? Thank you so much! Love the content.
I have a stock 2015 Ram 2500 SLT Crew Cab 6.7 automatic and never get temps that low. Towing 6% uphill with a 13,000 lbs 5th wheel trailer with ambient air temperature 85 degree, I got coolant 226 degree, trans 176 degree, oil 240 degree. Just as comparison, when the truck is just city driving non towing, I get coolant average 192, trans 172, and oil 200. If you have a stock ram, can you please reply with your temps. I was told by my dealer that the coolant temp can get up to 240 before the truck starts giving alerts and bells that its overheating. What temperature is too too high for a stock truck (coolant, trans, oil)? Please share your experiences. Thank you
I'd start getting worried at 230 coolant, 180 is the point trans fluid starts to break down and allow slipping creating more heat effectively burning fluid and bands/clutches, and I'd be getting worried about oil losing it's viscous properties at 260*. Definitely check your oil/power steering cooler, trans cooler, intercooler and radiator for any crap packed into them and with a garden hose sprayer head or just compressed air blow it through the engine side to the exterior if it does have crap built up. Also, the truck in the video is fully emissions deleted, so no DPF system or any of that restrictive crap, and he has a 180* thermostat instead of 195*, which will help everything from coolant temp, to oil temp, EGT, air density in the charge pipe, even trans temp to a certain extent-extremes being about the difference of you pulling 13k and him pulling 24k and the temperature differences therein. But honestly, I think he probably has a bit more done to it than just emissions delete and a colder t-stat judged on the grades and weight he's towing, and the gear he's doing so in.
WAY THE HELL OVER GCWR ON THAT SRW. JUST BECAUSE THAT TRUCK WILL PULL IT DOES'NT MEAN YOU ARE LEGAL. YOU ARE WAY OUT THERE DUDE. PROFESSIONAL, HAH!!!!!
Terry Henry shut the fuck up you incompetent fuck. People have to do what they can to put food on the table
I love it, That truck is badazz! He is in control Terry Henry.
isn't the 14 3500 swr with 3.42 axl ratio Max gcvw only 25k?
or is this a different truck?
I always wondered, when you installed your Titan tank, does the fuel gauge work property? And miles to empty?
Amazing performance.
What gearing do you have?
I have the same truck (2016). It;s great when you show us what our trucks can really accomplish. awesome video! More videos just like this would be great. how did it handle the weight? Is there anyway i can contact you in private for additional questions?
+Regal2800 email me. theamgcummins@gmail
great thanks. email sent.
When you did all your emisión work. Did you replace the thermostats with a cooler thermostat?
???
+Robert Murillo yes with a 180
I have a question? I’m wanting to ask if you know of a diesel shop you would recommend..For a full delete.I have a 2007 F250 6.0. Thanks
Needs more Def!
Chris Browne He deleted the emissions system so it shows empty.
Chris Browne lol
Track bars will prevent axle rap.
impressive
+Aaron Swaim tk
What gears do you got on your truck if don't mind me to ask you?
Thanks
Luis Sabedra 3.42
how do you get away with so much weight on a single wheel one ton
I think he was meaning from a legal standpoint. There are a lot of things I could do with my truck without breaking it. But most of them are probably illegal lol. I would say that from a legal standpoint, 33,000gcvwr is illegal, with or without airbags lol.
Yeah that's a little bit over. I think the max GCVW is around 28k for a single wheel. Those trucks can definitely handle it though
THE ROAD PIRATE, WAY WAY OVER GCWR. I'D LIKE TO TURN HIS ASS IN.
+MrSamsamsammy that truck and it's configuration is rated at 16880 for a trailer and 25,000 gcwr. those numbers are from the 2014 dealer brochure.
he has not been pulled over yet buy a Highway Patrol with scales knowledgeable of these trucks capabilities and limits. this truck is rated at 16880 trailer and 25000 lb gcwr. in the event of an accident his insurance would not cover him due to being overloaded.
Is this truck a 3.42, 3.73 or 4.10?
There is a tow chart Ram puts out every year.. you can find your year and configuration and tow capability.
Max tow is 2wd, reg cab, dually, and everyone thinks their truck single rear four door has the same max.
I live nearby
How your temps so low?My 2016 gets up to 220 towing 5000.Not deleted though.
My 2013 gets to about the same towing 15000.. The fan clutch engages on and off. Yours still like that?
Nice videos lots of good info. What rear end gear ratio is in your truck?
+Tom Krueger 3.42
PD Diesel Power thanks.
How does your truck weigh 9k. I have a Dually thats only 8k
Interested in temps on non Aisin trucks if you have any
does the dash in the 2013+ read exhaust gas temperature? or just boost?
rpmmustang89 just boost.
What kind of tune and exhaust are you running?
Hey man what are you running for a tune. I tow about 9k tt and gear what should I set my tune at ?
+Kevin Kelly probably around 30hp tune
Does your mpg change with tow/mode plus j brake? Do you get more or less mpg?
+Fearless Motoring i never checked. Because I never comprise life of my trucks components with gas mileage. If I'm hauling anything then that tow haul button is on. Because it changes shift points and line pressure, over all changes the tune on the trans slighty. Therefore you get less slippage and a quicker lockup of the tq converter. Exhaust brake is always on. So I just never checked the other way around.
PD Diesel Power I️ respect that comment you are right the life of your equipment is much more important then saving a few bucks...
What tune are you running? Head studs? Stock trans?
+R1Predator efilive. Yes on the headstuds. 625s
Walking that Dog and kick'in that Cat! And getting decent mpg's!
Why is your steering wheel not centered when you going straight . Is that normal . I see it slightly goes to the left . Just slightly. I noticed all ram trucks do that . Is it normal on a heavy duty truck
The track is so wide, you are fighting the crown on the road. In the express lane, I'm fighting it the other direction.
James Little ok thanks I have a ram diesel 2016 and my steering wheel turns slightly I mean slightly to the left . Thanks for the input . It makes more sense now . I took it to dealer and they said it's normal
I took mine in for the same reason! The steering kills me. I just bought a steering box stabilizer i hope it helps. My DEF ticks all the time too. "NORMAL"
Stephen I took my to the dealer as well they said it's normal lol I was like ohh ok
Didn’t know ram/dodge put on straight steering wheels 😂
Whats the reason you use 8ft beds on your trucks
Lots of reasons to use 8ft bed - biggest one being having a bed worth a damn for carrying equipment and they are way more stabile driving down the highway.
bro where is that view?
+Brian Jensen I call it Lewiston hill. It's right outside of Lewiston Id
Did you cross through Vantage?
I have a 16 and I've seen oil temps as high as 252. Does yours stay cool because the truck is deleted?
Matthew Oakeson I've honestly never seen mine get that high. I've seen mine get to 210 when towing through the heat in Arizona
Matthew Oakeson it's gotta be because it's deleted.
I Have a 16 and have pulled just 6000 Lbs through Wyoming with no real grade and the oil temp was 219. Non deleted. Through Texas it was 213
he was towing in 57 degree weather. In 105 degree my oil temps can get up to 225-230 towing heavy. ambient weather temp makes a big difference.
Matt O i have a 6.7 cummins 2500 also a 16 and dang that is too high!
Is the truck deleted?
Ruben Frenti yea
your numbers are out of focus.
Damnnnn..
how your temps so low?
Aisin 🙌🙌🙌
DatClipperFan
And deleted with a much lower temp thermostat
Frank K Delete the truck and don't run some stupid tune on it.
Cummins is how
Outside temp is 55-57 deg F. That helps if one can keep speed up, i.e. over 45 mph.
I slow the truck DOWN to 45 mph BEFORE I go down a steep hill.
What transmission does the truck have. AISIN?????
Yes
Billy Bob that's the aisin I love that trans in my 2014 ram 4500 6.7 with 4.10 Dana rear axle the truck did 30k pounds like a breeze
Saves some fuel by coasting before the downhill slant, too.
damn over 10 mpg at over 30k gross. ive got a 92 mazda b2600i that gets 12 in town with my fat ass in it
is this by bigs junction?
Nick Muller no, Biggs junction is on I84 in Oregon. this is I90 town call George, WA
Damn dude! I didn't know that they made 36 PSI. Although, your truck isn't Stock by any mean. Idk what my family's 08 Dodge Ram 6.7L Turbo Diesel Cummins with the G-56 Transmission makes. But, Our Turbo sounds just like yours.. all she has is that she's Straight Piped!..
+Do_it_with_Zane_117's_vlog's :)
Was that Snowqualmie?
wildhorse192001 its just to the east of Ellensburg. In the video, he's headed west along i90 and will hit Snoqualmie pass if he stayed on i90
I wish I could get the rear coils on the 3500!
Yeah, but Ram had to cut them off so Chevy and Ford don't run away with payload in the one-ton class. Ram 2500 payload is already lower than both due to the coils, although myself and I'm sure many others are glad to have them on 2500.
I wonder why they insist on keeping leaf springs when they already have a self leveling bag system that'd work just as well if not better on a coil sprung rear suspension. The ride quality and handling characteristics would improve a lot too, towing or empty!
My 4.10 aisin dually likes to downshift and red line. I always let off the throttle and it shifts up too much then I give fuel and downshifts twice. Is it the tune that keeps your rpms normal? I think climbing at 22 to 24k rpms are good but I don't like to stay that high for too long.
+Brandon agreed. Typically I try to stay 1600-1750 on the flats.
I don't think the 6.7 likes 24k RPM lol.
Lokyr00 lol yeah I guess that's 2.4k oops.... Leaving it
PD Diesel Power I run at 2k Rpms at 70 mph
The 6.7 cummins redlines just past 3k and makes max power between 2600 and 2800. Nothing wrong with running up to the read line. If it wasn't, id be suing the manufacturer for allowing the engine to rev higher than what the engine can handle
Got none on a Duramax
Hey, I know where that is
Sounds like really bad axle wrap and your rear shocks can't handle it.
+BajaMedic agreed. But who makes a better shock then bilstein
airbags don't make it legal
Kevin Cress it's not illegal in the first place lol
Ok, and?
