Why did they ever grab EGR from the soot side of the exhaust was the epitome of the dumbest decisions ever it just wrecks the intake of the cylinder head and the Cummins design is the furthest you can get from ease of cleaning almost next to impossible with out pushing chunks into valve seats and combustion chamber. There is no reason for not grabbing EGR gases after the dam dpf! 😡🤬🤯
One other thing to check on the engine, do the jiggle test on the electrical connection for the air intake heater grid. If that thing is loose you could lose a bolt nut that gets sucked into cylinder 6 and can ruin your engine!
Add a Glacier diesel vent relocation kit to your fuel tank. It will add over four gallons capacity, as well as make filling your tank much quicker and easier.

By 2015 Ram 5500 has got a weak actuator can you replace the actuator and have good luck without having to replace the entire Turbo? I'm hearing several school of thoughts on that and would like to know yours
Depends on the failure and the condition of the turbo. If the selector gear has full travel and you failure is actuator related, then just a actuator replacement is what the doctor ordered. Cleaning of that turbo also helps to keep that selector gear moving well.
Girlfriend had a 2017. Grocery getter. 68RFE trams went out at 67k. Warranty was 65k. $10k to replace Trans at dealer. Traded it in on a duramax. So far so good. Will never buy another dodge with a 68RFE again period.
I've got a 2014 1500 that my wife totaled .. planning on getting another 4 gen soon but definitely going diesel this time ! . How many miles is considered "to many" miles ?. . . Thanks in advance !
I don’t know that there is a “too many” miles. 2500 miles is too many miles if it was driven by a negligent person and wasn’t taken care of. That’s what the core of these videos are to show you what to look for on the systems of these trucks and some of the failures that can arise if the truck isnt taken care of. Good luck with your purchase.
I have a 2014 ram Laramie Mega and it’s been a nightmare……. Had three others before it went three hundred thousand miles and no problems. This is has had transmission problems. Four wheel drive problems water pump problems twice and the computer went out!!!!!! Luckily all was covered by warranty. Ohh did I tell about the def pump went out at 80 thousand miles I had to pay for it!!!!

I have a 17 that we use hard everyday for work. Bought it for 54 k with 40k miles started throwing turbo actuators codes and transmission codes around 50k to 70k miles. We would just delete the codes and keep rolling. Went limp several times. Had to replace the turbo at 98k, did a fas fuel system sb intake and that’s when we did the delete. we replaced the transmission with a stage 3 fully rebuilt at 101k miles and the truck is day and night , 21k$ later I highly recommend. lmao oh yeah the key fob still sucks 😂😂
I’m on my 3rd 4th gen this one is a 2016 ram 3500 and I use it for hotshot towing and this thing is a beast with the max tow package. But the really special thing about this truck is that it’s deleted and tuned in the trucks computer, but no dash codes, no loud sounds, exhaust is still fully intact and under the hood looks pure stock. I’d love to know how to replicate this for my next truck!
?? RECENTLY added deep trans pan, rev max bypass giving me 22 qts of trans fluid..I have managed to knock my temp down by 50 degrees...getting about 70-85 degrees in 55-60 temps, checked the dipstick nothing seems ab normal...am my hurting my transmission??
Good luck. I have a running list of repairs on my 2018 Ram 3500 6.7L - Delaminated 8.4 screen, drag link weld, abs pump failure, hydroboost leak, other than that it’s been great lol.
@@andrewslagle1974 sounds great; except if your drag link is welded you are ineligible for the a new one. On top of that Fiat’s new drag link has gone through 3 revisions due to failures. I remind myself that it’s a great engine wrapped in a terrible truck.
At 75,000 miles my 2018 is already on its third EBCM HCU (electronic braking control module / hydraulic control unit). Costs $1000 each time to replace it. FCA is such a trash manufacturer
Not lifetime though but with that mileage, you want be conscious of overall engine health and question the transmission build to make sure everything was done correctly.
I used to own a 2017 2500 Laramie with the 6.7. I bought it with 36k miles. And sold it with 54k after it through a def code for no reason, the door lock actuator went out (it took 3 months to get the part), rear park sensor went out, then the exhaust manifold gasket blew and wasn't covered under warranty. I really liked the truck but it was back in the shop every other month.
I bought a 18 tradesman 6.7 back in June of 19 as a leftover and it's been a great truck over 50,000 miles. I've had 2 issues: the factory tires made the truck vibrant and ride terrible and the thermostat stuck open around 30000 miles and was fixed under warranty. I noticed your 18 has the lever on the floor for the 4x4 while my 18 has a dial on the dash. My truck was built October of 18 what mouth was yours built? (Date of manufacture is on the sticker inside drivers door )
The dash mounted electronic 4x4 was an option. When i purcased my 18 new ,i wanted manual 4x4 lever on the floor. I think it will be more trouble free over time.
I got the 18 3500 crew cab 8ft bed dually g56 6 speed floor shift 4x4. Tires have been an issue for me as well. Not 15k on the odo yet. Dealer maintenanced. I usually use my 05 2500 or 00 f250 for towing. If needed bigger the 3500 will take especially 130 hp tractor on gooseneck trailer. Pushing 16k plus 10k for trailer
Great video I have same in big horn model I tow 5th wheel no issues only problem I had was the radio needed a dealer update which is stupid you need Chrysler software but so fat so good but I’m in California
@jackmosqueda9724 yeah the Bluetooth thing always needs some update. And ambient temperature sensor gets beat up as well by bugs. Sets off engine code.😂 in the mirror so font let them mirrors like Beavis and butthead. 😂 I've never used my moose 🫎 mirrors 🪞 still sitting in my front with 13k and some change since last was at dealership only less than 10 miles away.
I would have liked to see more discussion of the emissions equipment on the 6.7 Cummins. Otherwise great video. I’m normally a Ford guy but I do like Dodges for the Cummins motor. Speaking of Fords how about a buyers guide video on the 6.7 Powerstroke? Thanks!
That egr is something that should be removed and stay removed😂. I want guys and girls 2 know that. Ive a couple million Dodge Ram miles behind me. And there taint no egr that's go for anything other than a mechanic's paperweight
I have a 2018 bought it new with 9 miles , at 34,000 the front seal went and now at 44,000 it broke a valve spring and bent a valve on # 6. Cost to fix 10,000 . I do have an extended warranty and I’m still waiting to see what they are going to pay.
I own a 2012 ram 2500 had original 6,7 Cummins in it. I blew up my engine and traded it off for some boot and received a 2014 6.7 to install. After investigation I found the the '14 will mechanically fit into my truck but it will not plug in. the plugs on the '14 engine I now have don't fit the wire harness plugs in my '12 truck. Unable to go back on the trade, long story, but im looking into finding another engine to purchase to get back into my truck. Overall, my main question that I'm needing experienced professional help with is, what year, model ram can I pull a compatible engine out of that will fit and plug into my 2012 2500. I have heard "10-"13 2500 engines will work. I have heard only '11-'12 2500 engines will work. I have heard '11-'12 3500 engines will work but nothing 4500 or bigger. I need some professional help here. I've already made a mistake once, I have to get this truck back on the road and I don't want to dig any deeper without correct direction. Thank you for what you all do, and any help, advice, or referrals in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
Mechanically, 07.5-12 PICKUP will work, however wiring harness will have to be sourced from the correct year truck. This will be the most seamless way for you to accomplish your goal.
I ordered my 2018 NEW 2500 Cummings Diesel. Dodge has a Rust perforation Warranty. Which is worthless, Dodge only has to say ROCK damage caused the rust. Not covered
My ABS and traction light comes on and off, dealer says it’s the ABS electronic hydraulic control unit is bad, they are on back order and can’t get it until at least January of 2023. It’s aggravating cause it alarms all the time and the cruise can’t be set when alarm is on and it will kick out the cruise of set and alarm comes up. Hope it helps ya.
@keithwilliams4474 probly just a wheel speed sensor or wheel bearing. Thats what happened to me. It was the wheel speed sensor so I changed the whole hub unit because it was under warranty
Currently looking at a Ram, ‘16 3500 SRW. 97K miles. I noticed a skip in the steering wheel when entering on ramp to hwy. ( pavement was wet ) the wheel pulsates a little. ? Idk what it is. probe with a bar? Not sure about tranny 6 psd for sure. Can I find this in vin? I’ll do some more crawling around before the next drive. Sure appreciate your input and observations in Video. I just subscribed.
Ram 2500's solid live front axle does not corner like IFS if that is what you are familiar with. You'll find that you are either getting over steer feedback from the wheel or understeer feedback. You'll not find s sweet spot or fulcrum from steering feedback. You'll constantly feel like you are oscillating between under and over steer. It is a the trait of this front end. The tranny takes time to learn. It does not behave like a Allison but it is still a good transmission.
Thanks for the video. I recently purchased a 2015 2500 with 100000 miles, 68RFE, and noitice what feels like gear lash in the drive train when on and off the throttle. Other owners say they have the same, even on newer trucks. My 2001 with the same miles and Dana axles is rock solid, could it be the American axles? U-joints and everything else under the truck is tight.
I have heard of several people fighting this as well and they change gears and problem remains. I do not know root cause of this but from what we have seen in the field, its not gear setup.
I understand what you’re saying but I need you to explain to me about flash shift. But the trouble code ,most time you go to the deal. They have cleared the code. So what do you do.
I currently have a Keystone Montana 10,200 lbs, I was towing it with a 2006 Chevy 2500 HD 4x4, it was wrecked. I'm have a lot of trouble understanding the all the in's and out's of the GVWR ( towing capacity). I'm looking at buying a used 2016 3500 Dully 4x4 Diesel or gasoline, I want the Dully for the stability. I have had chats with different people on different sites and it just leads to more confusion, I have never owned a diesel truck before, and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Gvwr isn't the towing capacity. Gvwr includes the weight of the truck. I.e., if the truck weights 7,000 lbs and has a gvwr of 20,000 lbs you have a capacity of 13,000 lbs.
I have a 2018 Limited Tungsten Megacab 4x4 . It looks nothing like this truck. Different hood, different grille. I didn’t know the tradesmens were that different.
Should i trade my 650hp 04 Ram 3500 crew cab long bed single rear wheel NV5600 6 speed 4x4 for a 2011 Ram 2500 longhorn 6.7 4x4 brown leather interior, sunroof, ranch hand bumper fully loaded etc Just would have to pay fees difference, have debated it because its a nice truck and its on a lot but have done quite a bit to my truck over the years so its definitely questionable
Not on thus year truck but what is going on with the emmisions issues on the 2022? I'm hearing of horror stories and don't buy pleas. Do you have any videos on the engineering mistake made on the entire exhaust system of the 2022's so the videos are saying?
The lights could be a speed sensor going bad, just run the codes and diagnose from there. The buttons will be listed as to functionality in your owners manual.
Death wobble is due to cheap Chinese ball joints not HD enough for weight of vehicle replace with REAL ball joints from Synergy and it goes away. Ford also has same issues but wont replace on warranty they'll tell you maint item I have 2018 3500 replace my ties rod link and drag link with synergy Now steers like a Mercedes.

Impossible to be fully deleted and still have a stock exhaust. The dpf and scr has either been removed or they were hollowed out
Old school ford in the background @ 16:10
I hope I found a big horn or Laramie longhorn dully
Not hurting a thing.
Good luck. I have a running list of repairs on my 2018 Ram 3500 6.7L - Delaminated 8.4 screen, drag link weld, abs pump failure, hydroboost leak, other than that it’s been great lol.
They replace the drag link rather than weld them now. my 2018 3500 dually reg cab has been the best truck i have ever owned !
@@andrewslagle1974 sounds great; except if your drag link is welded you are ineligible for the a new one. On top of that Fiat’s new drag link has gone through 3 revisions due to failures. I remind myself that it’s a great engine wrapped in a terrible truck.
Hydroboost leaks are a common failure according to my mechanic. Mine has'nt yet at 72500 mi.
At 75,000 miles my 2018 is already on its third EBCM HCU (electronic braking control module / hydraulic control unit). Costs $1000 each time to replace it. FCA is such a trash manufacturer
Great video. Amazed at the knowledge you have in this industry. Would love to have you dial my truck in
im buying a 2018 3500 6.7 with 314k miles. $20k. new turbo and trans in the last 30k. injectors are lifetime? any other big concerns i should have?
Not lifetime though but with that mileage, you want be conscious of overall engine health and question the transmission build to make sure everything was done correctly.
There’s always lots of leg room when your 5’ nothing Wade 😂
A small issue with 6.7s water pumps can fail only issue I’ve had on my 6.7
That's true, but they are very easy to replace, only thing I had to do was loose the belt.
When did they put Clearance Lights on the 3/4 ton 2500? I thought they were only on 1 ton 3500 and above for DOT regulations
I'm not aware of the regulations but ¾ ton trucks have had clearance lights for quite a while.
@@thoroughbreddiesel the last 3 I've owned didn't have them.
@rockythenomadsiberianfores4314 it's an option at build for 2500.
What is the most reliable years for those years?
I think they are all comparable, I avoid the 18’s though just because of the ECM communication hoops you have to jump through.
Got a 2011 with no fuel water separator. Have you heated that?
Heated fuel will only depend on where you live to know if you can or cannot get by without it.
@Troy342 why would I fix something myself when it's under warranty?
you're 100% in the right i dont know what that f@g was thinking. yours was a lemon i think. @@jordantaylor789
18 was the best year of the 4th Gen Cummins
I would have liked to see more discussion of the emissions equipment on the 6.7 Cummins. Otherwise great video. I’m normally a Ford guy but I do like Dodges for the Cummins motor. Speaking of Fords how about a buyers guide video on the 6.7 Powerstroke? Thanks!
the emissions are fantastic, they fall off easily .
Easy powerstroke buyers guide: DONT
Used diesel truck are just as good as the new one
That egr is something that should be removed and stay removed😂. I want guys and girls 2 know that. Ive a couple million Dodge Ram miles behind me. And there taint no egr that's go for anything other than a mechanic's paperweight
I have a 2018 bought it new with 9 miles , at 34,000 the front seal went and now at 44,000 it broke a valve spring and bent a valve on # 6. Cost to fix 10,000 . I do have an extended warranty and I’m still waiting to see what they are going to pay.
Sorry to hear that.
Awesome video 💪🏻
Thank you 💪

Not covered
Sorry to hear that.
I need to know what all the buttons do under my ac unit. Also my abs and no traction light is on and I can’t figure out why..
Replace the ccv and waterpump every 100k and do a basic delete and tune and general maintenance these trucks last a long time
Currently looking at a Ram, ‘16 3500 SRW.
@@thoroughbreddiesel yes maybe it's in the transfer case
Mine did this as well. I changed to 410 gears and a one peice aluminum driveshaft, problem solved. It came with 342 gears....horrible.
Asian tranmission only comes in HO Cummins 3500 models
I understand what you’re saying but I need you to explain to me about flash shift. But the trouble code ,most time you go to the deal. They have cleared the code. So what do you do.
I could be wrong but didn’t 4th gen start in 2010?
¾ tons were 2010 yes.
I looking a 4 gen ram diesel truck dully truck
Looking to buy a 2011 slt megacab. Any issues?
Everything we discussed here applies, if it is a auto truck make sure before you purchase that there are no transmission related issues.
I have had chats with different people on different sites and it just leads to more confusion, I have never owned a diesel truck before, and advice would be greatly
appreciated.
Ram 3500 dully 2014 diesel
Is a 2010 ram 3500 Laramie truck better then a 2017 4 generation truck
I don’t think that one is better than the other, no. But that is my personal opinion.
Would this be similar for 08-10 3rd gens too?
Close. 3rd gens a little more body troubles but still a good truck.
Should i trade my 650hp 04 Ram 3500 crew cab long bed single rear wheel NV5600 6 speed 4x4 for a 2011 Ram 2500 longhorn 6.7 4x4 brown leather interior, sunroof, ranch hand bumper fully loaded etc
Just would have to pay fees difference, have debated it because its a nice truck and its on a lot but have done quite a bit to my truck over the years so its definitely questionable
Not on thus year truck but what is going on with the emmisions issues on the 2022? I'm hearing of horror stories and don't buy pleas. Do you have any videos on the engineering mistake made on the entire exhaust system of the 2022's so the videos are saying?
We actually are hearing the opposite. As the years go on, the emissions systems are getting better.

Wow when did Allison become available?
True Allison in Chevrolets from 2001-2019.
There’s ZERO … 🙆🏻♂️ … ZERO bling on a tradesman
Wait a minute. Did he just say "c'est magnifique?" Je suis bouche bée.
Merci 🍻
Best thing is to delete the emissions.
The first thing you do, is airbag it
Ooo test truck 🤔
Wade ..you need a HIGH and tight, hair cut!!!!! LOVE your channel keep up the GREAT work.
Truck only has 22,000 miles on it
The lights could be a speed sensor going bad, just run the codes and diagnose from there. The buttons will be listed as to functionality in your owners manual.
Wade, you need a haircut big dawg lol
High and tight now.
We have 2018 3500 SRW that have over 600k running round trips FL to IN weekly. Great motor.
What 10k miles on a 2018 that’s insane
I bought a 2018 high output model with 6k miles on it in the summer of 2021, felt pretty lucky.
Just got a 2017 6.7 2500 4 x4 with only 16,700 miles! Check engine light just came on though

Dodge ? 🤣🤣🤣 Nope, the last Dodge made RAM was the third generation that ended production in 2010.
Vehicle title and registration still says DODGE, it's a DODGE
Death wobble is due to cheap Chinese ball joints not HD enough for weight of vehicle replace with REAL ball joints from Synergy and it goes away. Ford also has same issues but wont replace on warranty they'll tell you maint item
I have 2018 3500 replace my ties rod link and drag link with synergy
Now steers like a Mercedes.
This is a terrible product, the up keep alone on the EGR system will cost you too much. Stay away from it.
What did you pay for it..
