I could drive calmly with your temp gauges but my 2018 Tradesman v6, transmission 195f, coolant 228-235f, and oil 228-230f. I keep placing my eye on it but even though the needle gauge shows as normal. I've changed the radiator due to the factory had a leak, thermostat is rated 195F, water pump, and fresh coolant fluid. Did bleed the system and burp the system. I still get those temperatures.
In my 2018 2500 Ram CTD, I am averaging 15.5 mpg due to the nightmare that is Los Angeles city driving. Long trips I hit 24 mpg when not towing. Great video!!
Thanks for the vid, I wanted to share my truck temps. I tow 14,000 lbs 5th wheels with a stock 2015 Ram 2500 6.7 single axle and during 6% grades, I see coolant climb up to 225 and oil at 240 and my dealer says these are normal numbers and I shouldn't be concerned. My truck gets the same exact numbers as yours going down the highway with no load on a level surface. The next time you are towing a trailer up a grade in a stock truck, can you you please film the temps. I think keeping coolant under 210 while towing up a grade is pretty much impossible in a stock truck. Also, you said you are ok with oil being at 240 but don't like to see coolant over 210. From my own experience and from what ive read, oil temp is usually at most 15 degrees hotter than coolant. How can you you see 240 with coolant so low. Im still somewhat new to towing so I'm trying to learn whats safe and whats not to prevent costly repairs. Thanks
I tow a 12k trailer out in California and have some decent pulls around here. My oil has gotten up to 230ish and my truck usually hits coolest temp of 217 and the fan kicks on and shoots it right down.
Mine is getting up to 210 then dropping back down to 195 to 198 then back up then down but I am going over hills up and down not loaded at all empty and I am worrried I think the reservoir line have a leak somewhere it’s going to the shop when I get to my destination keeps spitting out coolant out of the reservoir but it’s not over heating going from 215 down to 190 on oil temp just have to keep putting coolant in it let’s hope I make it another 290 miles 👍🏼👍🏼
My 2018 Ram oil temp always reads 122 degrees at startup, running up hills with a load it hits 215 at 80 degrees. Why does it read 122 at startup? And even at 30 degrees in the morning at startup. Where is the oil temp sensor located? That’s where I was going to start.
I got to this video because i freaked out when i saw 210 in my cooland temp It was 96 degrees outside , was in a traffic jam , just about empty on a 2015 ram 3500 I had ac at medium blow abd max ac, turned it down , removed thw max ac feature abd it went down to 197 Just my teo cents
My 2013 ram gets up to 215-217 but the fan kicks on shoots it right down. That’s usually only going up a decent grade towing my 12k fifth wheel. Just curious why you say 215 scares you?
Great video Paul thank you, Blessings to you and your family. I was in my truck the other day stuck in traffic, truck empty, ambient temperature 73° and when traffic started to move I noticed my Oil temp climbed to 210° a mile and half later it had dropped to 158°, I've never seen it that high on an empty truck before, it only has 6400 miles on it?
My (2015 6.7) truck keeps overheating under mild towing conditions and even just driving slow up a grade unloaded. I think it's my fan clutch. Is it normal to be able to hear the fan kick on high when things heat up? I've seen my coolant / trans / oil temps all get above 230 and I still don't hear a fan kicking on high.
Hey man. Quick question. I have a 2018 3500 6.7 that I bought in Idaho during winter. I’ve been driving it for about two months now and have about 4000 miles on it. In all the time that I’ve had it I’ve never seen my coolant temperature go above 180 and usually hovers in the 160 range even when the truck is warm. (Ambient temp 55 degrees) Is this normal? Is there a problem with my thermostat? Should I consider changing my coolant?

How’s the truck doing it for two years

Thats the temps mine runs in the 90’s in south Texas.

Your temps and fan operation is exactly what my 2012 Ram is doing.

I just had mine do the same thing. I have a 2018. Did you ever figure out what caused it?
Is that engine oil temp or trans oil temp?

Thank you for sharing this information.
Since you buy trucks frequently can you do a video on how to get the best price/ what you paid for the trucks.
+Pat S. Will do a bit later
nice vid, i have a 6.0 powerstroke and my coolent temp is at 192 and oil temp is at 203, at 70mph.
+Tagz thank you

Good video are these numbers the same for 2012 ram v8 5.7
My oil pressure stays between 46 - 48 psi. Your thoughts. 2018 Ram 2500 fully stock
use different oil brands
I think I saw a reflection of you in a video? Its because of you I am driving a 330K Ram 3500. So far so good.
My 2013 has 303k, so far so good here as well🤞🏻
Keep up the vids!!!
+AUTOMOTIVE HIGH !! Thank you for the support
My 2010 2500 normal highway is getting up to 215 no towing
Thanks for sharing, Bless You
have you ever tested your rear axle oil temp when towing heavy?
What kind of filters do you use buddy?
Is it deleted?
What rear end ratio does it have looks lower geared than my 2017 RAM 2500 Cummins
d b 3:42 with Asian Transmission. My grandmas 2007.5 Cummins 6.7L she’s got the G-56 Transmission with 3:72 Gears Straight from the factory.
Shit I am parked and all my temps are higher rn
Do you use any fuel additives?
+David K yes. Winter time Schaffer carbon 2000. Every other refuel.
Thank you !!
dennis dillon? they have the lowest price on trucks!!
you use exhaust brake all the time?
+Connor DeVoe yes
I run mine all the time as well
