Over the years, designers have been borrowing or stealing from African cultural heritage, depending on how you see it. But times are changing! For her Cruise 2020 collection for Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri has come up with a truly African concept. Working hand in hand with Ivorian designer Pathé'O and with women from Morocco's Atlas mountains, she has launched new wax print fabrics which are manufactured in Abidjan. The collection blends curiosity with empathy. FRANCE 24 takes a look.

This is how you appreciate. You give the source the resources, jobs, and acknowledgment/notoriety they deserve.
    It’s refreshing.

Even though its exact history is uncertain, fragments of batik’s projected origin dates back to the first century where it was discovered in ancient Egyptian tombs. Evidence of early Batik has also been found all over the Middle East, in India, Central Asia and Africa.
Batik is an Indonesian word, and refers to a generic wax-resist dyeing technique used on textile. The word originates from Javanese word amba, meaning ”to write,” and the Javanese word for dot or point, titik. The technique is known to be more than one thousand years old, possibly originating in ancient Egypt or Sumeria. Batik is found in several countries in West Africa such as Nigeria, Cameroon, and Mali, and in Asia, such as India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, Thailand, and Malaysia, but the art of batik probably reached its greatest development in Indonesia, and some of the finest batik cloth is still made there.
The oldest batiks were discovered in Egypt and they date back to the V century BC. Another ancient batiks which were found belong Japan but it is considered that they were created by Chinese artists who immigrated to this country from their motherland.
One way or another, but the history of batik is firmly linked to China, because that’s from where batik started to spread around the world. Silk fabrics dyed using this technique were exported from China to the Mediterranean sea, that’s why this trade road has been called the Great Silk Route.

it's an hommage, designers are artists making stuff we can wear everyday, they get inspired. Getting inspired by another culture and twist it to fit what your customers needs is what make the beauty of fashion and that's why it's so rich culturally. You guys just want to stay between communities, increasing racism and avoid any kind of understand and bridges. outrage culture my *ss
