The house of Dior is famed for its feminine chic, yet the label's designers have always been men. Following in the prestigious footsteps of Mr Dior himself, Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano and Raf Simons, Maria Grazia Chiuri is the first woman to direct the French couture house in its 70-year history. She took time out from the flurry of activity in the workshop to sit down with FRANCE 24 for a chat about feminism, the French approach to cultural heritage and seven decades of fashion history.

Gianfranco Ferré and John Galliano were the best creative directors. They really reinterpreted the ideas of Mr. DIOR and created some of the most artistic and iconic pieces that the history of haute couture probably had ever know

Seems, she had ‘big shoes to fill’, she decided to wear her own. 😁 For all the hype, the conversation that goes around, imo, it seems the lack of, the failure of appreciation is not a reflection of her abilities, of the style she brings to the brand/company. Some times, the critics are wrong. 😊

I have always favoured Dior over other brands but since Maria took the helm I've been a huge fan. Dior is suddenly wearable. The clothes in real life are just beautiful. When I wear my dior shoes I feel like Cinderlla. She's knows what she's doing.

She had Dior feminity but she forgot Dior fantasy. We miss you galliano.

Maria's 17 years with Valentino will render her Dior pieces totally wearable and highly pragmatic. May lack a little bit of glamour though if you compare to Gucci 2017 but that's obviously not Bernard Arnault is after if he would choose her as the helmsman. This is a change in direction after Galliano left and the reason why Raf Simons was choosen as successor. The end of theatrical drama to pave way for sleek simplicity. But Raf did not know women's fashion enough for its richness and possibilities.
Maria is different. Valentino when alive cut some of the world's best dresses to celebrate a woman's feminity. Her shoulders, her silhouette, her curvature. Maria had first-hand work contact with Valentino before he retired. She knows the essence of truly feminine style. Dior and Valentino were fierce competitors in their heyday. From the new Dior collection, I could see that a lot of the Dior details, silhouettes and sleekness from old collections have been successfully revived and translated into contemporary fashion language. Understated but very sleek and stylish. A lot of women love that. I'm quite confident she will bring much better revenue to the Dior House.

John Galliano was the best thing to happen to Dior especially the Haute Couture 😩. It’s so lifeless now, even the models have no attitude or spark when they walk. She’s not a bad designer, she has great ideas just not how I envisioned Dior to be, she just doesn’t fit with Dior in my opinion.

Her social justice mentality and cheap slogans on t shirts can't save her. Literally everyone thinks she's a flop. Even Raf's biggest haters are wishing he was back at Dior.

The collections imo seem feminine. As such it would seem, sales year end a reflection of consumer satisfaction, at that it would seem the comment reviews mixed/a mixture of acknowledgement to appreciate the creativity/clothes, and critiques/criticisms it seems mostly by comparison, to other individual designers. As the woman carries to weight of the fashion empire world on her shoulders, she tries to create and appeal to the interested customers, in the midst of all that pressure. Thus, imo, she is/has doing/done a fantastic job. Applause 👏 for her contributions and as that to contrast the seemingly harsh critics.

This message is more attended to Maria Grazia Chiuri and her all collegues.
Do you know how Dior customer service works?
I can tell you if you don't know it: it works terribly. Employees who work with customers treat them unworthily. Send them to courses where they can learn how to treat people. But if they are animals, then nothing will help. Pass this information on to higher-ranking people to figure out how to check these people to make sure they really fit the job, I mean working with clients.
Have a nice day and try to make changes related to customers.
