I too am A cradle Catholic. I started reading books about Judaism. I found two that helped me abundantly. They are the Jewish book of why part one and part two. I needed to learn more about Judaism if I believe that Jesus was a Jew first and foremost.I hope that helps you. It did for me.

As a sidenote, during lent and before Passover or during Passover, my priest has a rabbi come and tell us the Jewish tales so that we can share our faith and our food. It is a beautiful service. It is one I highly recommend both Jews and Christians Experience at least once. We are not that different. We are human and we respect our religion. Hopefully, we can respect them all regardless of religion or any other differences.

I dated a Jewish man for 2 years and absolutely fell in love with Jewish culture. I went to Shabbos with his family every week, and I was lucky enough to visit Israel with him and it just changed my life entirely. Unfortunately, our relationship didn't work out for a number of reasons, but I still have so much love and respect for Jewish culture & people. This video brought back so many lovely memories from those Friday nights with his family, so thank you for that!

It doesn't sound silly at all. I just watched/listened to this while folding and putting away my laundry. When I made my own comment, I was going to describe the feeling as her being a close friend showing me around her house or taking me to the store with her. I used descriptors like "serene" and "uplifting" because that's how I feel when I watch her. It's like her voice offers a type of intimacy that really reaches her audience and makes us feel exactly like her words describe. In the most sincere way possible.

Question please: you need to keep light off during your Shabbat? Or is this so it comes on automatically and turn off?😊❤ would love the video on blessing the glass.😊

    • @elisabethm9655
      @elisabethm9655 Год назад +6

@@vnickcolvin4971 it’s not that the light must be kept off, only that the flow of electricity is neither actively stopped nor started by a Jew on Shabbat. It relates to the prohibition from the Torah to neither kindle, nor extinguish a fire on/ the sabbath. After the invention of the lightbulb, it was determined that the burning filament of the bulb is a form of fire and the generating of light is an act of ‘kindling’. Simply shading an already lit bulb however, is different than turning it off and is permitted. The opaque shade from the design of Shabbos lamps meets the requirements, as does the invention of the shabbulb. People also use electromechanical and electronic timers that are preset before Shabbat to turn lights and other electric items off and on. I hope this helps.

For some reason, he used red for dairy and blue for meat, and I once messed up his whole kitchen by setting an empty cup I had drunk from down on a placemat of the wrong color. Pagan gentile/ raised Christian here. I learned so much just watching this one video! I didn’t know that there were multiple sects of Orthodox Judaism, although it should’ve been common sense. Love the creative ways you guys get around not being able to operate switches on Shabbat, and the kosher cookbooks are really cool! I also didn’t know that the ritual pool was used for cookware too; I only heard that the ceremony for adopting children uses one. I had no idea that the two-handled cups existed, or that you guys could eat leavened bread at all! I’ve subscribed to learn more.

I've always loved the resilience of Jewish people in the face of so much discrimination from those who were simply jealous of the success of Jewish people. The list of Jewish people among Nobel Laureates speaks for itself. On a side note, Jewish people have lived in India for thousands of years with no need for guns and bombs for self protection. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your Orthodox Jewish life. Keep shining. Blessings. 🙏🥰🌟

This was so enlightening. I work as a chef and I really wanted to see what exactly was different about it versus a Williams Sonoma and I learned so much! The cookbooks were my favorite part because I've never thought about that aspect before. I was vegan for a few years so I know all about converting recipes and actual vegan cookbooks were just easier to deal with. Those Victorinox knives are my favorite little cheapo paring knives. Super sharp and under $10 usually. I'm so happy I watched this!

My guess for the things you'll only find at a Jewish kitchenware store are stickers to label the meat & dairy cabinets, silicone scrubby sponges, really large pots for kashering things with boiling water, and color coded everything (tongs, spatulas, etc) to distinguish between meat & dairy.
The large pots and the scrubby sponges are of course available in non-Jewish stores, but I'm guessing that there's a much better selection of them at a Jewish kitchenware store.

Everything was so nice and I love those cookbooks. I come from a large Christian family from my mothers and fathers side of the family. We’re Mexican-American. It’s wonderful to be around my big family. We all cook together, and spend special holidays together. The ladies in my family set the tables with fine linen, and yes, even the plastic table cover! And pretty center pieces. When we all come to the table, we hold hands and someone will say a prayer before we eat. There’s always pretty plates, silverware and beautiful drinking glasses. Throughout the years I’ve been married, I accumulated a lot of pretty dishes and glasses and my belated mother-in-law gave me a lot of fine China that use to be her mothers. I couldn’t believe she gave all that to me! I’m so glad my mother taught me how to cook when I was young and taught me how to set the table. My brothers helped, too. And I was happy to cook for my new husband after we got married, he cooks good, too but I don’t mind doing all the cooking, he helps clean up afterwards. We’ll be married 30 years in late September. I really enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing. 😁❤️

@@Shoshi2048 Thank you for your kind words. My surname is Horwitz, and my family were expelled from Russia, as in "Fiddler on the Roof!" I believe some went to South Africa. Then my grandfather and great uncle did what any nice Jewish boys who had been victims of pogrom would do...They moved to England, bought a banjo and formed a comedy double act. They had to change their professional names to Max and Harry Nesbitt and enjoyed great success for over 30 years. Funny thing, though. They never got rid of Horwitz. It stayed as their real names out of respect for their Jewishness.
My father became an actor and he couldn't use Horwitz professionally, either. The same respect was there, though. I remember him telling me that he will always keep the name Horwitz because of his deep connection to our Jewishness.
When I entered show business, I made the conscious choice to use the name Horwitz. My grandfather couldn't use it, my father couldn't use it. I am now able to use it. I use it for my grandfather, I use it for my father, and I use it for the Judaism in my heart.
In a strange twist, I didn't stay in show business. I received a call to be a religious Sister. My vocation involves studying and writing about the faith. I have discovered many things about the Catholic Church that would surprise you. It did me. I hope my work draws our communities closer.
I too wish you and Sara every blessing ✨

I love miracles! Dr. Sara, thank you for being my friend and for inviting me into your life 💚
I really enjoyed the recyclable plastic plates you recommended. I would also like to get a new Victorinox knife. The hot water dispenser information was A++ and thank you for sharing safer options.

I love miracles! Thank you for sharing. I learn so much from you with every video I watch. I am truly sorry that your children ( mentioned in another video) must have guards at their school. It makes me sick. I do not understand people having such hatred or fear that they would take the lives of others or try to hurt someone. The message you give at the end is so touching and means a lot. You are a blessing to the world through your kind education and caring. With love 🩷🌸

Victorinox is the brand that makes those famous swiss army knives 🇨🇭! I have a few of their pocket knives and I also have the kitchen knives (I'm from Germany and I used to live in Switzerland for a year). Very sharp and good stuff! When I saw the potato peelers I was asking myself whether you would need two (one for potatoes with meat and one for potatoes with cheese) before I realized that a potato will always be just a potato 😅

You are the first person I have seen mention disposable tableware without judgement or a tone of "but you should REALLY save up for Actual Dishes". As a disabled gentile hoping to convert, that means a lot to me. Thank you for this tour, everything was so beautiful and functional, and now I want to try those challah baking molds. ❤ I believe in miracles :3
