I used to watch your videos as soon as you unloaded, but at some point, I had to start getting serious about school. It drained me, working with no goal. Then came summer break, and I couldn't do anything. I quite literally rotted in bed for hours. Things I loved doing, like watching anime or videos, felt impossible. I felt like if I did those things in my current state, I would forever ruin them. I would scroll through youtube, click something, turn my phone off a minute in, and take a nap. Today, I opened youtube and saw this video. By the end of it, I felt exactly what you had described. Like I have to do something, anything, a burning passion in my chest for nothing in particular. I usually don't comment on videos at all because I never have the courage to be perceived, but I had to thank you and let you know I will be looking forward to each and every one of you videos. Hey! I started watching you because I started watching Bocchi and I wanted to hear what people thought about it. Through that I discovered your lyric explanations, and then other anime! You got me watching lycoris recoil which I am still obsessed over, and I found I just really enjoy your video style and commentary. You feel things! You feel a lot of things when you watch art and I love that you express that as much as you do! When I finish a good series I became somewhat attached to, reviews and analyses videos like this is my go-to coping mechanism when it's over. Found this video on my recommended page and immediately clicked on it, and I must say I absolutely love the enthusiasm and passion on your delivery of the topic ^^ virtually everything you've said is relatable (especially the yuribait, but I still stayed for the story LOL) and it's a nice feeling to see someone else so passionate about it. This show resonated with me much more than I expected, especially since I usually am an isekai and action goblin. The characters in Jellyfish were so uncannily relatable and real that it struck a chord with me. This show makes me want to put all I have into pursuing my passions.

Jellyfish was a great anime for me and I don't care enough that it has flaws that my brain didn't even recognize any flaws until you pointed them out in this video. I need someone like Kano, man, my life is pretty much just going mostly with the flow and its so hard to make decisions that could decide the next stages of my life. I'm pretty much like a jellyfish stuck in a current these years.
I get you, I'm in the middle of many big life choices now and I always feel so lost, not knowing what the right choice is. I think that's why I live this show so much.

Well said! Jellyfish was a truly inspirational and sensational anime with that unique anime original feeling, which I haven't felt in this form since A place further than the universe.
What I loved so much were definitely the characters. All of the characters felt meaningful with enough depth to them to make it worthwhile thinking about each and every one of them. Yes, even Koharu (the boobs women) felt meaningful as she personified that it is acceptable to not love your body and want to change it, which is important to Kiui who loathes her real/"original" identity. I think this is also the reason these two bond so quickly as they are very similar in that sense. As a whole, Kiui's story felt very transgender-esque to me with learning to accept a different, and especially, socially unaccepted form of yourself. (Ngl I would have never expected to see something like this in anime as Japan is super conservative)
It truly is a shame that we didn't get to see more of Mahiru and Kano resolving their character arcs. As it stands now the ending is, as you said, very simple, idealistic and hopeful and just a few more episodes would have been so nice. (I'm still praying for a manga adaptation or an OVA or smth PLEASE GIVE ME MOREEEEE)
Also YoruKano is canon, fight me if you want, but I am not accepting that these two aren't actually in love with each other. I refuse to be yuri-baited.
This is my first time stumbling across one of your videos, but I would still like to thank you for creating this. This served as the perfect excuse to think and write about an anime I loved so much and has thus definitely made a significant and positive impact on my day. If you so desire please, by all means, keep creating content. Having something you created on your own can surely be a form of self-actualization and thus one of the most important things in life.
