Boat Fishing in the Highlands of Scotland | Sea Fishing UK

- With a couple days off work, it seemed like a good idea to tow my boat to the highlands of Scotland in search of species I hadn't caught before. I changed my plans last minute, rightly or wrongly, and the weather didn't really play nice, but I still managed a couple of days of fishing landing a target species in some stunning scenery. Learned lots more about boat fishing, too

well do mate its always good to have some firsts 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
Good Morning Nathan , another good video mate shame there was no big pollock but you did get your target fish , plus you have no control of the weather mate but i was still an enjoyable video so take care & tight lines
Easiest way to bring on a bite, either have a bite of your sandwich or go for a wee, will bite when you are not looking :D superb stuff as always, great trip and really nice to see a boat session, superb content, enjoyed that
Welcome to our home, although we are a little further north 🙂
That tip with the shrimp lure works a treat.
Good idea using a teaser above the lure 😝
My old stomping grounds. right across from your lodgings is a cracking mark for pollock.
Can't all be red letter days mate, but you did it, drove all the way up and fished where you wanted to. Well done Nathan, keep it up.
Yeah, guess that's fishing. Tight lines and all the best👍🎣
Nice one Nathan, still a good few fish there, Can't all be 10lbers lol good viewing all the same. tight lines lad 🎣
Another great watch... I've still not caught on a lure ...
Only been trying for 2 years😂
Yeah planed trips never go to plan Nathan buddy! 3 times for us down to Chesil beach the last time was storm Ciran ffs lol! stay safe lol buddy
Nice to see you out on the boat again Nathan, pleased for your new species on board. appreciate your efforts 🎣👍🏼
Lovely - a world away from a wet Sunday night in Brum. Cheers Nathan.
another good one Nathan, thanks. The Breda, dived that wreck many times, its a good one, and fairly intact, and lots of fish usually (when the visibility lets you see them ;) ) Some big pollock definitely.
Great video, Thank you!. Can you let me know where you stayed as that little place looks gorgeous.
Eyup Nathan. Tommy Joe of RUclips fame was snapping his new beach braid between his fingers the other week. He's a good strong fella mind but the braid was dodgy as. I'm glad to see you're getting on with the boat and haven't gone mad yet. It's force 7 here now but I might go tomorrow for the Herrings. Thanks for the boat trip and the Spurdog (I've never had one) and I'll sithi after! Dave.
That looked a nice gaff you stayed at Nathan.
You should do an end of year Slippy bloopers video. 👍
It wasn't too bad for a glorified caravan 😆
That' not a bad idea John, I need to be more organised with the 13TB of footage I have though. I'll see what I can do.👍🎣
Still a mint days fishing, looked like an amazing location. (your ceiling needs a cleaning in that boat)
Hope you head back up in the summer as it looks a cracking spot...👍
Another great video Nathan.
Well done on the new species on the boat, your boat looks like a bad boy 🤙. Looked like a good reck aswell there's bout to be mummy n daddy fish down there 😂. Tight lines pal 👍
It's a big wreck the breda. Dived it many years ago always had plenty of fish about.
Brilliant channel❤
Well well Nathan, I remember the Breda when the holds still contained cargo, boots and other war gear, it must be the most dived on wreck in the UK. Brought back memories to me, I remember the strong currents and living off scallops, nice to see you're getting adventurous. Suggestion, why don't you make a prize of a days fishing with you? you'd have to travel to their area but would make a good vid.
Enjoyed the video at least you got to do something different and a few fish too
Glad you enjoyed
Great effort. A very enjoyable video again.
Them gulls seen you coming a mile off matey!
Nice video again Nathan..good effort mate . I fished that wreck not that long ago and had some nice Pollock and a conger about 20 odd.. plus hooked something on the bottom that i couldn't stop.. actually had smoke coming off my reel.. then i had to pull for a break or i was gonny get spooled. 70lb line...so defo come back up maybe in the summer.. plus buy some big weights, upto 3lb..and maybe get yourself a harness too.... Then after u get a biggy u will have the bug...ps last trip out i pulled an 117lber up backwards.. hardest fight of my life..lol ..tight lines mate...🎣🎣🎣🎣
Still some good fishing despite the challenges, and always a learning curve. There are some good marks around Eileen Mor island which is to the south of where you were wrecking, when the wind and tide allows.
When I saw the massive piles of washed up kelp on Whitley Bay beach a couple of weeks ago after the storms, it almost made me want to dig out my shore fishing gear. Almost...
The fishing might not have been the best but a new species and that location makes up for it
Can't beat fishing the west coast , stunning place . Look forward to the next . Tight lines
Always like the bloopers at the end.
Thanks Liam, all the best 👍🎣
Even though the weather let you down Nathan you still had your trip and made an interesting film, you holiday let looked great, anyway well done for persevering to get us some content😊
Great vid Nathan. I like the look of those shrimp lures
Thank you. They are lethal, think they're made by Fladden
Another good Episode , Are those Spur more Dark because of their depth? I really like how its like your bringing us fishing with you good or bad we are routing for the next catch to be a good one . It looks like a harsh environment for us southern Softies mate but i like your honesty around learning all the boaty bits. Also what a place to hunker down Great views. 100 percent agree about pollack taking the small lures, from deep rock marks at least. Nice to see your in the SLOSH club too.
Nice one pal, I live in Oban and it’s a great place for fishing with the amount of species and the size of fish we get here👍🎣great vid
I'm looking forward to coming back up and finding some of those biggies. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣
Another well presented video buddy, well done and look forward to the next one 👍
Nice to see you out on the boat. You seem to be getting more confident. 😊
Keep up the goog work, mate 👍
You put in a lot of time and effort, well done 👍
dived on the breda a few times, great dive, salvage rights were owned by a dutch guy called dave thyse,he owned the dive centre too, left it untouched,
I spoke to a woman called Nicola in the dive centre who told me the same thing. Wonder if that was Dave's missus
Great vid as always Nathan, there's not always big ones there but still great to get out 👍
What a great site you have. What is the mobile phone App you use over the wreck? Happy Xmas to you and your family.
Best, Stuart McG
Thanks Stuart. The app is called Navionics, been using it for years on my kayak and now comes in very handy fro the boat. Using the app on my phone is way cheaper than a new chart plotter with navionics pre-loaded. All the best and tight lines👍🎣
Exellent video
Thank you
Can't fault your effort Nathan. Long way to go for bits. How come you don't go out Northumberland coast where you shore fish a lot. ?
I tend to go where the weather is best. Saying that Northumberland doesn't have many public slipways, that i can find anyway, they're normally club owned or private. There is the launch at Beadnell but you're limited by the tractor times and have to pay 30 quid for the privilege.
@@SlippyLimpets £30.00 chisiling bastards 🤣🤣👍
@@russellnicholson426 haha. Exactly
Loved the video Nathan lad, keeping it real as always. The most authentic channel out there. Used to use that teaser rig trolled behind my kayak when I lived in Spain. Caught me some lovely bass and palameton. Ahh, the good old days😊
Fish seem to love a good tease, they work well from the shore too. Tight lines and all the best. 👍🎣🍻
hiys slippy. im looking at travel rods but idk what to get- i want sort of an all round rod that i can use for dropshotting or spinning for perch and trout, but then also spin for pollock. is a shimano telescopic rod or one of those 5pc travel ones better? what casting weights should i look at? what mono line would suit all 3 species? cheers n great video
that's a pretty tough criteria to fill, mainly because Perch and trout fishing use very light lures (between 2 and 20g) and line (around 5lb) but pollack normally require something a little heavier (casting between 15 and 45g) and a bit longer. I'd have a look at the Tailwalk Outback range of travel rods, there's an 8'6 that might do for all your after. Hope this helps
Another great video buddy. 👏🏻
Let's pretend that I've won the giveaway could i please swap the rod or reel for a trip out on your boat with you the next time you're in the Edinburgh/East Lothian area. 😁
You never know, that might be one of the giveaways as well as the other bits. 😉 Tight lines👍🎣
I didn't realise you had a boat. Looks good! What is it?
Had it a wee while now, you've got some videos to catch up on 😉 It's a SIlver Marine Piscator 580
Missing the lrf 😮
I'll get some done if this wind ever does one. Seems to be a constant whenever i get some free time to go fishing
Please show me your little boat. A little tour. I want a small camper cruiser fisher type for here in Jupiter. A town in Florida. USA. Thanks.
Always good to watch , one question , how did a ship like that sink so close to shore ?
sound of mull was a shortcut for shipping down west coast of Scotland. SS Breda was steam cargo ship. it sank and they tried to tow it to shore - but didn't make it ;) I have dived this wreck many times
@@richardfrank180 thanks for the info , much appreciated
Dutch built steam cargo ship, 1919
Good question, I recorded the history (I love reading about wrecks i fish) but the vid was too long so cut it out. Story goes that a german bomber attacked it, the bombs missed but the shockwaves in the water ruptured a water intake and it started taking on water. The captain sailed it into this bay and the crew escaped. The ship was rested on a shelf but slid back into deeper water to where she lies today.
Thank you for your answer
Give me a shout next time with a little notice, I'll take you to some spots
Will do Dan. I still need to get back to you on WhatsApp
If whatsapp is easier for you I'll send my number via messenger
Great vid despite what you think. No apology needed. Sound was dodgy is my only gripe.
I really love Scotland.
Sorry about the audio LV, I've figured out the issue and hopefully you'll have nowt to gripe about 😊 All the best and tight lines👍🎣
Still you were out on the boat stunning background scenery, I on the other hand spent 6 hours freezing me tits off on the haslar wall and blanked not even a dogfish ! 😂😂
Ah, Kevin, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully our next sessions will be better for us👍🎣
spot the fish in the clouds at the end.
💜👍💜👍
🙌🙌👍🎣 ATB Duncs
Skate are critically endangered and should not be targeted by fishermen!
Good to see you in God's country again, sadly not as fruitful as you'd have liked, maybe next time. 👌
There's far worse places to be not catching fish!
