This is my son and this conversation with Dan only scratches the surface of how bad it was. Today I am a proud parent of a young man who is in the process of turning his life around and is discovering how good life can be in sobriety. He is supported by a loving partner and together they are bringing up a gorgeous little girl. Thank goodness he is where he is now and not in prison or dead, which st one time is where we all thought he would end up. Well done Dan for doing this and I hope your podcasts have an influence on those looking to change.

Sobriety isn't a mainstream topic I'd say and people talking about real honest issues which impact others hits home to a lot of people which Dan mentions. Drug and drink issues are massive in this country and people's behaviour whilst on them can be shocking. It's hard to understand how you feel and unfortunately when you're involved with groups of people partaking in these types of activities you can struggle to process your own feelings and making decisions as an individual. It takes courage to make your own decisions and not be influenced by others

I think that was the best episode yet..absolutely loved that.
Some great phrases that trigger memories , such as " great to be happy and then leave the room without getting PTSD from it", My god, that hits the nail on the head,we have been living with ptsd from the day before for years, and I guess it's never leaving us.
That is what should drive us to our sobriety .Also talking about our children and who we want to be In their memory.Having to accept we have been absolutely awful.
How you can come from money and still end up under a blanket in Amsterdam with no money to get home, shows us no one is exempt ,no matter where we have come from we all end up the same. How u can actually manage to end up with a bed sheet as a door😂..I think we all have these moments, which deepens the bond we addicts share.Beautiful story, Well done Cal ,well don Dan , well done me I have 2 weeks sober.thanx guys xxx❤❤❤love to the families xxxp.s every day I crave alcohol, it feels so good to feel the relaxation hit me, and the memory's fade , but they come vbsck with a vengeance in the morning, along with near fatal dehydration, depleted serotonin, dopamine, depression not to mention obliterated personal relationships..that is like a living hell..the drink tells us it is the cure ,but it is only the short term answer.the cure is sobriety .Alcohol and drugs rape us.End of story .😢xxx

I have only just found this podcast!! But i relate with so much ypu have to say and talk about!!!
From someone who was a waste of space, coke addict, alcoholic, i had been addict to almost all drugs at different points in my life!!
I then realised I had to change!! Me, not others!!
Today after going to CA, i have a beautiful wife, the respect of my friends and family, and I have grown 6 businesses in 4 years, all with staff and families who rely on me! Baring in mind, the mrs at one point couldnt trust me to pay the rent!! 😂
.....and i did everything as a man who walked in those rooms with nothing!!
Passing on the message is the best thing any of us can do mate! Much love and respect!! ❤️

Another top episode I learnt a lot from! 👊🙏🎥

Dan, we never met but New Haw was my neck of the woods at the same time as you. Think we even got out barnet cut at 'Premier cuts' by Kings Road.
Anyway, I'm really pleased you've managed to come through the adversity and offer valuable, real life stories regarding addiction.
I also had 2 years from 2015-2017 of pressing the self destruct button, taking cocaine from breakfast every day, throughout the day and evening 6 days a week.
I was a successful business owner and totally wrecked special relationships, both family, friends and clients.
It got so bad I left the country and moved to Australia.
Since then, I am married, have a child and have been sober for 5 years.
These stores are so relatable, and if honest, watching this spiked my anxiety BUT I needed to watch it.
The irony in my story is that I'm qualified in physiology, psychology and nutrition AND still crashed out on the white stuff and vodka.
Well done and keep adding value to people.
